firstly, i wanna go off on a rant, saying that i hate HATE packet kiddies... it's just sad and pathetic how call yourselves "1337 (anyone who types like that should be shot)".. there's more i'd like to add... but i'll hold off on it:-)
secondly, i came upon an interesting article that talks about a reverse firewall. Though unfortunately, it's not effective as we wish it to be, because it just stops DoS's from the source. And who knows how many sys admins will bother to install a device like this
I have a bunch of friends and relatives back in Russia and my father actively travels to Russia and the Ukraine for business... even 3-4 years ago when Bill Gates asked Russia to stop selling pirated copies of Windows 9x/NT.. Russia couldn't really do anything about it, except order a military tank to drive over a bunch of pirated CDs they collected, to destroy it... an interesting, yet ineffective solution
friends and relatives in Russia still tell me that when they go to flea markets, people still sell pirated software at a ridiculously low price... this goes for audio CDs as well and even hardware...
so in conclusion, if Russia claimed to have "stopped" people from selling pirated software, is Ukraine going to approach the same matter? just do a thing or 2 about the whole situation then tell the US... "ok we're done, now lift the sanctions please"
why not just upgrade to Woody? even though it's classified unstable.. i've been running it and having no problems at all with it... there was a certain way to upgrade from 2.2 to 3 (i unfortunately forgot), but if you sign on to irc.openprojects.net, join #debian and message Apt.. it should give you a few simple steps on how to upgrade to Woody...
my last company i worked for... we developed a proprietary program for internal use only to catalogue what we had in a "nice, friendly" environment (it was a procurement company).. of course the code would never fully be completed, but it was a very long and tedious procedure due to QA... in my opinion, i usually think QA has probably one of the biggest roles with development.. without them we'd be releasing buggy programs left and right
the search engine world is overpopulated right now, and with the economic downturn, more and more companies will move to where they can survive.
according to this article posted back in August.. there should be even more search engines popping up in the future.. most of the ones on that list are still in beta mode.. personally, i like Teoma a lot:-)
come on.. who doesn't like configuring/compiling... it's the best way to install a program... you customize towards your preference... if anything at least use ports instead of RPM:-\
i pose a conundrum to you... a riddle if you will... what's the difference between you and a mallard with a cold? one's a sick duck... i can't remember how it ends, but your mother's a whore:-D
it really doesn't matter, honestly, what you major in college...
the fact is, once you get that paper... you could say you majored in History, Art, Literature, etc... but if you have certs and so forth... expect to get hired...
i have a few friends who work for big companies (IBM, Lotus, Computer Associates) and they all never majored in CS/CIS/MIS... but they still landed the job, just because they went to college and they had certs...
another option you might want to consider, is consulting... i consult... and i don't have a college degree... and get this... all the clients who i have worked/am working for... have never asked me for my college degree nor resume (even though i do have a resume)...
the other good thing about consulting is, that once you build up your client base... you'll be working off referrals too... so that's another good thing... only bad thing about consulting is that you'll get no benefits... and no insurance
but if you're married and your wife has medical insurance for the family.. and so forth.. that shouldn't be a problem:-)
another program that gives a user access to the gnutella network comes with 3 spyware programs to spy on users...
first being Onflow Media Player... it is a Flash-like browser plug-in which displays animations and transmits user behavior information (not further specified) to the Onflow central servers.
second being SaveNow... SaveNow displays context-related shopping pop-up windows in IE... the context information seems to reside on the client side so that no information has to be transmitted to the central server
third being New.net, which is an alternative Domain Name Service which allows you to connect to TLDs like.free ,.shop,.game and.xxx, etc, etc.... also, as they have to query an alternative DNS to let you access these sites, they will be able to track every visit to new.net-"powered" sites.
not to mention all of these programs have silent auto-updates...
now if we can only get the parents, state officials, etc... to accept the fact that video games are not necessarily the cause of creating a "violent/evil minded" child... usually the cause of a child gone bad is because of bad parenting... and the parents have to use a scapegoat such as video game companies, TV shows, music groups, etc... to get the blame off their shoulders...
PayPal also is a fee based subscription service... i'm not too familiar with Surepay... but PayPal is one of the most reliable billing vendors out there
in the recent events of Microsoft suing Lindows over "infringement"... could it be possible that Microsoft is going to sue dotgnu for using.NET?
Now a days with all these ridiculous lawsuits going around because of name infringements... i'd feel better off naming my program, or a company, sdiuhfiuhwe inc.
By 2004, we'll definitely be out of this recession and business will be running back to normal... i assume... but would that still really start to drive computer prices up again?
i remember before your typical desktop PC was about $2000+ for a big name computer... a computer with those specs will not necessarily cost $1500-$2000.. you could probably build it yourself for (what i'd assume) about $1000... processor prices, RAM prices, video prices and HD prices are all dropping... some by a huge percentage... and i'm assuming in the future LED monitors are gonna start dropping too... you can already get a 15 inch for what? $300?
only thing on their i see that might actually be worth its price is the DVD rewritable...
plus if you take Windows out you'll be saving yourself another good $100+;-)
Till now, the IB had concentrated more on email IDs with reference to obvious giveaways such as Kashmir, Lashkar, Pakistan, Musharraf etc. For example, an email ID such as Lashkar@hotmail.com should be under the surveillance of the IB.
umm.. jeez... you could pretty much use ROT-13 on those words and get past the mail filter!! then again... they use a different language... and eventually the government will catch on... heh... can't we all just GPG?
Although it's still in beta mode, I found Teoma to be a great search engine, and at times, be even better than Google in whatever I was searching for.
;-)) give Teoma a shot.
For any of you considering paying for this service (none hopefully
how bout OpenNIC and/or New.net work on creating a .sucks TLD :-)

but why not save all the hassle with your good ole 4 header VHS?
:-)
of course the quality, and maybe the sound might not be so great... but at least you have a copy... hassle free too
come on... a 5 year old would know the answer to this :-\
absolutely correct, my apologies :-)

Price: $1,500 to $2,000

why don't they just auction off their remaining surplus... or something in that sense...

Happy Holidays to all
Santa does not exist!!
:-\
This is probably the best way to explain to your kids that he doesn't exist... i guess you could use this for the Easter rabbit as well
this would have been perfect 5 months ago when i got a visit from 2 "detectives"
;-)
but i wonder what would happen if i took a picture of them or started videotaping them... my guess is they'd beat the shit out of me
all.your.base.are.bel....
oh who am i kidding
that'd be perfect for LAN parties :-D
how long before someone h4x0rz it?
