You know, I'm a big fan of the Madden games, and it's not as simple as all that. Each year, there are usually new features added into the games that make them different. Plus, for hardcore sports fans, that roster change is a big deal, and that's not something that up until recently (though I am sure nobody plans on doing it) they could change on the old game. But with gaming consoles becoming adding hard drives, network adapters, etc., one would hope to see an updatable roster in the games.
In the end, I have no clue what I am talking about.
Oh, and FIRST POST, in a couple of months for me anyway
Yeah, I can't believe all the commercials and ads and people going door to door to tell me about The Two Towers.... oh wait, I haven't seen any of that.
Mwuhaha.... I played a really old version of the game a while back. Unfortunately, I haven't quite gotten the knack for these games, I keep putting myself in a position to come in second place. Of course, my explanation is that I don't like to be in the forefront and would rather manipulate the leader...
I was a SysOp for many years, and as soon as the nicks and handles started to become WizzyTheOrgasmicGod and CyberFucker, I knew the end was nigh. I'm sure that others can recount similar stories about IRC and Usenet
Haha...that happened in my house too. The phone rings at 1 in the morning, I've just gone to bed, and some sysop calls to tell me he'll extend my time online because he liked my writing. I was so scared they were going to take my computer priveleges away.
So many people think it would be so easy just to set up this type of network for the neighborhood. They forget to look at such things as increased resource consumption, neighbors calling at 2AM with tech support questions, possible zoning violations, equipment maintenance, accounting issues, taxing, etc.
The list goes on, and the moment you started talking about customers and profit, it became a business, so you have all these issues to deal with. I'm not saying it isn't doable, I wish people would jump into it, but the way you describe it as a wam-bam-broadband solution is just not practical.
Not unreasonable? This movie is fictional, based on a fictional universe, their creative license should let them do whatever the hell they want in the story/images/whatever. They are not upset about Times Square being misrepresented like they say, it's all about there money, and while I might be a capitalist, I do see that artists (loosely used) should be allowed their creative license even if they sell it out to companies. Would these people have been upset if they had depicted Times Square without any advertisements? Probably not.
Well, shareholders and pensioners are all part of the company. I consider all the money I have in stock in my employer as company money because anything that affects the company affects me...
The post was meant to say that embezzlement and the like in private corps only hurts people with money in the company. Embezzlement and the like in the government hurts all taxpayers.
Yeah, but at lease when shady deals go down in large corps, it is the company's money that is hurt by this. When the government has these shady deals, it is the people's money.
Well, I think the fact that a large number of NHL players are not from the US has something to do with this. Unlike the NBA where it is an American sport made up of mostly American players.
Oh, and don't forget the massive number of systems managers they have to handle a game like this. Oh, and the developers too. Yeah, they benefit too. And assuming that just a quarter of those are married, their kids. Oh, and the people that came up with the marketing that made this game popular, they probably have families too. And, that guy at (insert computer game store here) who sold it to you. It probably at some point kept him alive as well.
With as many people as I hear that feel like you on Slashdot, I'm surprised that I don't see more like you out on the street trying to reach people, gaining a constituency, working to change the system, etc...
The net's fine and good for reaching some people, but the best way to reach people is to press the flesh, hand out literature, start a political movement, etc...
Admittedely, I'm not doing this either, but well, I guess I'm as much to blame for being lazy as you.
If we want to change things to match what we would like things to be like, we should really attempt to do it throuh broader means than Slashdot or the web. Yeah, a website has the potential to reach millions, but there is also a lot of web out there to look at.
Hey moderators, when deciding if something is redundant or not, make sure to check the time stamp on the statement. Just because someone mentioned it above me does not mean that they did it earlier, there's this thing called nested threads, you know.
You didn't mention blitzball at all in the review. The fact that while past games have had card games as side games, this one has sporting events as the side games. Thought it was interesting and look forward to trying to actually win a game sometime.
But then again, I typically enjoy sports games on console which a lot of people don't.
Oh, I know, maybe someone at G4 will see my ideas and hire me! That would be great, working for a TV company, even though I have no experience whatsoever doing things that TV companies do. And yeah, there is lots more you could break it down into. I think it could work.
Just for kicks, what kind of daily schedule could you push for a channel devoted to gaming? I think we could come up with some interesting shows if the industry of software producers as well as console producers were willing to work with them. So, I have spent two minutes thinking and thus propose a daily schedule for these channels. (Note all times are in Eastern Standard Time)
6am - 10am - Cartoons for the kiddies. And not just pokemon. Let's bring back those old Pac-man cartoons. And Transformers, I'd love to see the original Transformers series again.
10am - 12pm - Anime, movie, etc.
12pm - 1pm Rebroadcast of last night's Gaming News Show
1pm - 2pm Rebroadcast of last night's Console Gaming show
2pm - 3pm Rebroadcast of last night's PC Gaming Show
3pm - 4pm Retro Gaming Show
4pm - 4:30pm Benjamin J. Heckendorn's world.
4:30pm - 5pm Gaming Music Show
5pm - 6pm Gaming News Show
6pm - 7pm Meet the Developers
7pm - 8pm Console Gaming Show
8pm - 9pm PC Gaming Show
9pm - 11pm Tournament!!!
11pm - 12am Arcade Gaming Show
12am - 2am Movie, anime, etc...
2am - 3am Meet the Developers rebroadcast
3am - 6am Infomercials (Yeah I know, but they pay the bills, right?)
I'd be interested in a show like Meet the Developers or something, it'd be interesting. But like I said, they would need a lot of support from game and console manufacturers, without the bickering that goes on between the console people.
AT&T built the network in a time when there wasn't anyone else really pushing telephone service. Yes, they were a monopoly, but only because no one else was doing on such a large scale.
Now anyone trying to get into this market must take enormous risks
Isn't this what doing business is about? Anytime anyone spends money on something there is a risk. I mean, spend $8 to go to a movie and the movie sucks, well that money was a risk as well as your time that you could've spent doing something else. Most businesses are where they are because people took those risks.
Believe me the Bells want competition. They've been through the whole company split thing before. You know, about 15 years ago. Now the real problem with services offered by most CLECs is that they have to run it on some infrastructure of lines and switches. Of course, the Bells already have this large interconnected set of phone lines criss-crossing our country, so what's easiest for a CLEC to do, rent the Bell or long distance infrastructure already in place.
If CLECs really want to compete with the Bells, they need to become independent of the Bells.

It's a broken image link.
This text added to exceed the damn 20 second to reply rule. How can someone respond quick-witted if they have to wait 20 seconds.
Umm...the page shows best male performer... If you go to the best movie page, LOTR did win.

I fear for slashdot

Ever notice that the Empire people are always humans?
So the bounty hunters were Italians?
Not to mention a sound emitting device for alarm.

I get scared about my hands cause these are my livelyhood and how I bring home the $$. I lose a finger or two and I'm SOL.
Tell this to my parapalegic software developer friend.

You know, it's statements like this that get you a visit from law enforcement agencies.
I'm just trying to figure out how anyone could find this informative. Damn moderators on crack again.
