I think what the OP was trying to express is that charging for your little app and keeping the code proprietary has become the social norm for Android developers. FOSS *culture* hasn't really taken root there, and I agree that it's unfortunate. I don't think it's anything to worry about, though. It's just a matter of time.
Unfortunately, that's not the case with more insular online communities, where a culture of ownership takes hold and newcomers go along with and emulate and perpetuate it. Notice how FAQs on GameFAQs usually have huge copyright notices and warnings forbidding you from hosting a copy of it and claims of employing software to hunt down plagiarists. Or look at Zelda Classic, where people will lock down their custom quests with passwords to keep others from editing them. So I can appreciate a fear of a culture of ownership taking hold among Android developers but, like I said, it's only a matter of time before open source software becomes a dominant player, IMO.
You know, 1 in 250,000 is of course a very, very, very (very, very) low chance, but... it's still a not insignificant possibility. That's slightly (very, very, very, very, very slightly) scary.
there's just a bit of your mind dedicated to looking out for tigers, and if you're confident there are no tigers in your office you need to give it something else to do.
To this day I am unable to work, concentrate, watch television or even sleep in the same room as an analog clock that ticks. Even if the ticking is so faint you can barely hear it.
Ditto, except I would say *especially* trying to sleep. Friends have been mildly irritated with me while staying over at their place for taking down clocks from the room I'm sleeping in and moving them to the living room in the middle of the night.
Will Wright says he likes working with Brian Eno's ambient music in the background. Depending on my state of mind, I find it easier or harder to concentrate and when I'm having trouble, music makes it much worse. But Eno's ambient albums are usually an exception.
At least part of that stems from the aforementioned moderation system, the fact that most regular users don't browse at -1 (which means we wouldn't actually see AC spam even if it was occurring)
The Slashdot moderation system, while flawed ("Offtopic" is superflous as a means to moderate crap posts and only serves to punish topic diversions), works impressively well even if you browse at -1. I browse at -1 and have a bonus of +1 given to AC posts -- so that every post starts out at 1 (or 2, as normal) -- and Slashdot is still almost entirely free of trolls and such to me.
'Ginormous' is in that gray area between "real" word and slang. But I was really surprised to discover just now that 'humongous' is considered a slang word, according to Miriam-Webster.
It was called Bangalore to remind you where to call if you need any support for it.
Perhaps, but it was just as likely to have been named Bangalore to remind you of the people who designed it. (Disclaimer: I don't know if statement is true)
I'd love something like that just to have documentation on one screen while I code on the other. Or to have email/IRC/whatever open on one screen while I browse on the other.
Modern computer operating systems have these things called "windows". You can resize them and have two (or more!) showing at the same time! With this amazing technology, a larger screen can be used like two screens *or* one big screen!
And why should we believe modern neuroscience, i mean others have been wrong in that realm before right? So clearly their being wrong invalidates anything modern neuroscience can say.... Is that how your argument goes?
Why is this comment not being moderated as the troll that it is?

1. The sequel always sucks.
Duke Nukem 3D was itself a sequel.
No, but you could attach a grenade to a wall that would blow up when an enemy walks by.
This is basic small-'r' republicanism that has been foolishly and disingenuously demonized by big-'R' Republicans
What does this debate have to do with a system of representative democracy with an elected head of state?

I'm afraid you are being pedantic. Both are acceptable.
If both are correct, it's not really pedantic, is it?
I've used the local storage features and they're great. Even made a simple hash store based on it
Do you need a prescription first?
I'm not quite sure if she will take kindly to being called a duck
I take offense to that!
"what the heck, where did that come from?" funny.
Now known on the Internet as "LOL SO RANDOM".

:) Can I use that as my new signature?

You don't happen to have a Buddy Program invite you could spare, do you?
I doubt most geeks could tell you the name of the rouge iD developer who made his own FPS (which failed miserably), or what the name of his game was.
I "remember" John Romero and Daikatana, and I wasn't even aware of the PC games scene when it was current news.
All I can say is, Slashdot seriously needs some women posters, because this shit is shameful.
No one gets higher than astronauts.

To my wife after the movie: If I were a vampire, I'd kick Edward's ass for making us all look like effeminate pansies.
Beating up effeminate pansies: The REAL nerd pastime?
And why do sparkly vampires get to watch teenage girls sleep, but I get in trouble for looking too closely at professional cheerleaders on TV?
Probably because you're married.

Question: If you only boot into Windows to play games, is there any reason to use Windows 7 instead of XP?
Net Applications confirms it.

1) It implies that some of us here didn't know how to use a computer, at one time.
2) It says "experiences with the outfit", not the product. Maybe some of us recommended it to our parents.
