    In that case, it's almost certainly because of Bing's video search feature and the desire to not gain an early reputation as the porn search engine.

    Why do I have to pay for four separate "shopping channels" that are nothing but end to end commercials?

    To be fair, those shopping channels are probably the ones paying to be included. Logically (if not realistically), they could even be keeping the price of cable subscriptions down.

    Not to mention it's a country that's easy to embargo since they have nothing we need.

    No, but they're a sizeable market for food producers (Cuba imports a LOT of its food), who are one of the driving forces behind the movement to end the embargo.

    Rest assured, if they strike oil there we'll find every reason under the sun to be the best of allies.

    Guess what Venezuela is helping them prepare to drill for. Guess what other US companies want the embargo to end.

    Really curious - can any slashdotters enlighten me as to why the Cuba / USA situation continues?

    The US population as a whole opposes the embargo now, but there's a very important exception: Cuban immigrants. Rabidly anticommunist Cubans in Florida are very strong politically, and anyone who follows US national elections (doesn't everyone?) knows how important Florida is.

    I'm not sure how you read otherwise, but it sounds to me like that question is explicitly stating that curiosity isn't a good enough reason.

    those other browsers are free so who cares if Windows users are forced to use IE?? It's not like Firefox is a company and they are losing out on revenue.

    Yeah, Civ IV is horrible. Every now and then, I binge on the game for 24 hour-stretches broken only by sleep for several days in a row. Thing is, by the end, I feel like I've had my fill. But that's just me.

    If a game has me hooked, addicted, and I play it for hours at a time for weeks on end- fine.

    You could say the same thing about drugs. Actually, you could say the same thing about drugs and I'd agree. If you're a user, or even an addict, and happy, that's fantastic. But that's hardly proof that addiction isn't insidious.
