My own interpertation of their views is : spend like crazy until something breaks, use that as an excuse to cut programs they don't like, play lip-service to the moral conservatives, while not actually doing anything of substance in return for their support.
The president tells us that all right-thinking neocons will be raptured up, so we don't have to worry about ruining the environment. Let all those heathen liberals deal with the problem.
You've got to remember that when a journalist / CEO / marketroid / your mom tells you that someone is a "computer whiz" that just means that they know more about computers than the speaker. It's a matter of any knowledge being greater that no knowledge.

Sorry, I used internet when I meant Internet. It's perfectly all right to have your systems on their own, isolated network. There's good reasons some situations require that users have two seperate, isolated machines on the users' desks. Sometimes there's no substitute for actual, physical security.
