Now i noticed that the 9800 Pro is so big, considering the size of the heat sink to disperse the heat generated, users would have to give up the adjacent PCI slot.
I always thought in some computers the AGP slot and the 1st PCI slot had a shared IRQ, so this wouldn't be an issue...unless im mistaken, of course:P
If said newsreporter was taking pictures where there happened to be a WAP, who's to say that he couldn't use connect his camera to a laptop and transfer the pictures from a 802.11b card on the laptop? I would think it wouldn't stress the camera batteries as much.
I must admit though, it seems like a nifty idea, nonethe less;)
Then go recompile your kernel, KDE and it's libs, or your XServer:P (I have an AMD K6-2 550MHz, so thinking about compilation on such a CPU is painful)
i've seen this before on a show called gilligans island...
Go figure, the Professor could make Bamboo Bikes, Timeshares, Coconut powered-radios, a nuclear reactor and yet they couldn't simply patch a fucking hole in the goddamn boat, The Minnow...wtf?!
Isn't why they are called tools and not solutions ?!?!
Fair enough, I agree with you there. I simply meant to say that sometimes these tools are referred to as a complete solution, which is most likely a misnomer.
remember that these tools aren't going to be the "end all/be all" of network security.
You also have to have a good preventive security plan, which these tools will help out in. However, there should also be a plan of action should these security measures get bypassed (i.e. an insider job, program exploits, trojans, etc...)
Hah! It takes at least 18 years to get one running up to speed, and it's only "free" if you don't include the tens of thousands of dollars spent on tuition.
You got a point there, now if you introduce alcohol, pot, or (insert narcotic of choice here) to the system, you now have to deal with bad and corrupted sectors on the storage device, resulting in decreased performance and storage:P
On the other hand, it's really no different than some Western Digital HDs that I've had before LOL
It's tightly integrated, I carry it around with me all the time, I never lose it and it's never crashed yet. It doesn't cost a thing and it comes as standard.
It's called a "brain".
You must not have Alzheimer's Disease or have had a severe head injury;)
Even better, imagine if you could break into several of these things and then launch a series of DDoS attacks to nearby wireless devices and play hell with their communicationg >:)
Intel is developing wireless, pocket-sized personal server that may replace laptops and PDAs altogether.
The personal server mounts on any PC that can recognize wireless devices: "Any computer becomes your computer," said Want.
Ok, I'm a little confused, are they saying that this will replace laptops and PDAs altogether or are they saying that this is merely a more flexible means of storage that can be accessed from other PCs or PDAs?
Ok that was bad, but how secure are these things? I mean I dont want anyone to be able to use a sniffer to find my MP3's and porn.....errr I mean my school work and documents:P
Now, if only some kind researchers could get us all out of wearing pants at the office, we'd be set!
I find that funny for CmdrTaco to say that, given his sig says "Pants are still optional, but recommended for you."
And if you read that and knew what it meant, you DEFINITELY don't have a girlfriend. ;)
:P
What if, hypothetically speaking, I have no idea what all that means and i still have no girlfriend?
Hypothetically speaking of course!
Am I the only person that thinks this computer totally resembles a Commodore 64? :P
It comes with a floppy and an external cd (I didn't check if the external cd was w or r/w thought).
Yeah, lots of luck trying to use the very CD-ROM (or CD-RW) drive that the OS is running off of!
I dig the loud PC. I start the thing up and it sounds like one of those backpack leaf blowers.
;)
Lemme guess, you start your computer with a gas engine, complete with ripcord, like a lawnmower right?
Ah i see, the way video cards are being pumped up for performance, i can imagine such a setup being a must have for motherboards

Hey, I like that

Look at this screen shot for the parent post with improved graphics ;)

can anyone tell me the Prose and Cons of Darwinian Poetry? :P
There is no such thing as fair use. Just ask the RIAA.
;)
You got that right, they definitely put the "F-U" in Fair Use!

Damnit, then Chairface will finally beat the tick by writing his name on the moon!!

But that's just my contention...
Wow, thats gotta really suck to deal with, and to think I was only being facetious. My bad, man *shrugs*

They're saying both. Of course, one of them can't be right. This is not a replacement for laptops and PDAs.
How can I use a personal server on the train or the bus, or sitting in a park, or lying in bed, or at a meeting, or in a cafe, or...
Yeah, I figured as much actually.
It just struck me as curious how one would actually interface with these servers directly without said PDAs, Laptops, or PCs...oh well.
It's tightly integrated, I carry it around with me all the time, I never lose it and it's never crashed yet. It doesn't cost a thing and it comes as standard.

Let the fun begin
