  1. Howard Stern on FCC to Regulate 'Profane' Speech · · Score: 1, Insightful

Really, this is all about Howard Stern, who's trying his damnedest to get Bush out of office. Of course, the FCC is run by all of Bush's people, so Bush, who has never read our country's Constitution, is trying to get Stern shut down because he is a legitimate threat. Fuck Bush and Fuck the FCC. They're all fucking assholes.

Among the people I know, only a few that are my age (late 20's, early 30's)even watch TV any more. Most are like myself: we have a TV for watching DVD's and games. If there's a TV show worth watching, it'll come out on DVD. I literally haven't watched TV outside of one that's blaring in a bar or restaurant for several years. I don't miss it. My TV is usually on with a movie or game, but no crap TV or the commercials that go along with them. As far as I'm concerned, Tivo can live or die... I don't really care.

Like other posters said, AOL is being run into the ground, and the Netscape acquisition is one stellar example of bad management.

Exit polls are a BAD thing. They should be illegal. People who have not yet voted are influenced by people who voted previously. Decisions are made like "This guy's not gonna win, so I'm not gonna vote for him" which is NOT how voting is supposed to work! People should vote for the person that they think is the best for the job, regardless of how other people vote. "Exit polls" is what keeps the 2 party system entrenched in this country.

If he wasn't aware of Pegasus and Eudora, he should have learned a bit about mail clients before trying to do a review of them. Like I said, these are both excellent, and have been around since the *early* days of email.

Also, why didn't he review any good closed source clients? This seems to be a silly OSS vs. MS thing. If it was a real review, he would have at LEAST needed to include Eudora and Pegasus, both of which have been around for ages (much longer than any of the ones he reviewed, in fact).

I agree with my co-poster. Learn some basic economics. With the crappy jobs moving offshore to cheap labor, we get to buy said products in this country even cheaper, and standards of living rise, or at least stay the same, if no new jobs are being created fast enough and the average income drops. I can walk into Wal-Mart (not that I would) or Best Buy (not that I would), and buy a computer that will do anything I can imagine for $300. That's because they're being put together by people in Asia making $1/day. That's just one example. Look around in your house and take a look at your "stuff". All of that convenience stuff is so cheap because manufacturing moved offshore. All it is is a shift. Even if I were getting paid 1/2 as much as I am now, and couldn't afford that $300 computer, I'd be no worse off than I was 20 years ago when computers cost $2,000 each.

No offense, dude, but you can't offshore auto mechanic jobs, and people will ALWAYS needs their cars fixed. IT jobs are being outsourced at an insane rate, and jobs are disappearing completely faster than you can say "IT". You're gonna be a training treadmill that's only going faster and faster. You think new cars every year is bad? Hell, at least the way an engine works stays pretty much the same year after year. In IT, get ready to learn a whole new skill set, I'd say, every 6 months. 24. What does that have to do with anything? on SCO Names 1st Lawsuit Target: AutoZone [Updated] · · Score: 1

You see, businesses today often use many, many computers, especially large businesses, like Fortune 500 companies. The web server, which Netcraft looks at, is often one or two computers out of possible tens of thousands of computer in organizations. So, asking Netcraft what kind of computer runs their web site is largely irrelevant in this case, since more than likely, Autozone owns more than one computer (the webserver).

Of course, I guess that it is possible that Autozone owns just that one computer, and the rest of their multi-million dollar business is run with paper and pencils. However, I've been into an Autozone before and I saw at least 3 different computer terminals. That means that Autozone owns *at least* 3 other computers other than the webserver, all of which could be running code that SCO has a problem with.
