  1. If you fileshare, the terrorists have won! on The 10 "Inconvienient Truths" of File Sharing · · Score: 1

    Some random observations.

It's a very interesting how they managed to sneak in terrorists.

But I don't understand how counterfeit CDs and filesharing have to do with each other.

I don'g get number 4. Can anyone explain to me what the inconvenience is?

  2. Microsoft and web searchable product names on A Look Beneath the 'Surface' · · Score: 1

One thing I've notice with most microsoft products is that they give them generic names. This makes it very hard to search on the web for their products. Is it a strategy?

Because men are scared-to-death, repulsed, deeply saddened (or some combination of the three) to contimplate the thought of their wives walking around sans breast. I'm not a psychologist, but I would think that the reason that breasts are so objectified sexually is that they are linked to a basic, nurturing comfort deep within our psyche very early in our lives. A woman unable to offer fullfill that role has somehow lost a significant porition of her humanity. Of course, when rationally considered that's utter BS. But not all husbands can fully let go of that fear.

    Bollocks!

I think it's because in the current atmosphere it's politically incorrect to show concern for men.

  5. So this has become another green card lottery? on Annual H-1B Visa Cap Met In One Day · · Score: 0

How is this visa now different from the green card lottery? This has made my job searching really difficult in the US. No company wants to hire me because they cannot guarantee me the job even if I qualify.

On a related note: Did you know (according to my lawyer) that the cap does not apply to Indians and Chinese? This is another reason companies would rather hire from those two countries. My guess is that the US govt is trying to steal China and India's intellectual capital.

I few days ago I had the mispleasure of running into something called sealed[media].

It insisted on Adobe Reader 7.0. Not Adobe Professional 7.0 which I had installed, not Adobe Reader 8, which Adobe had on their website, not Adobe 6 Reader on my laptop.

I hope sealed[media] gets eaten by a grue.

Pretty soon, people in Zimbabwe will be coding :)

You seem to have picked zimbabwe for no reason, but I do hope you realize that until fairly recently Zimbabwe was not third world (I lived there most of my live). When I was there there were linux clubs, mac clubs.

It has a lot of coders, but most have gone to South Africa and the UK as they are paid better wages. Heck, I am in the US (but not coding, thank goodness!).
