There are non-medical uses for nitrogen. In natural gas pipeline installation nitrogen is used to pressure the lines to test for leaks before they are filled with gas. In some large pipelines water is used but in smaller lines especially in urban areas where an excess of water can be a problem, nitrogen is used. Maybe a construction company left them sitting there.
I can't believe how many times I'm replying in this thread!:) Have you considered cable raceways like these , they will run along the baseboards and might pass the girlfriend's aesthetics requirements:)
A few buddies and I used something similar in a poorly-equipped college apartment to run telephone and CATV wires.
I was initially concerned about the range of wireless in my two-story house, thought I would have a lot of problems due to all the portable phones, baby monitors, big metal appliances, etc.
I put the access point in my daughter's bedroom on the second floor, end result I can use my wireless card from the basement to the second floor, and a significant distance in the front and back yard.
I'd suggest buying a wireless card and access point from one of those electronics superstores that charge ten to fifteen points more, but have "no-hassle return policies". If the shit doesn't work in your house just take it back.
First they'd have to dump the 1970s tar and vi they're still shipping.
Preach it, brother! The list of post-install tasks required to make a Solaris box usable has gotten shorter with Solaris 9 (ssh out of the box, finally!), but they still have a long way to go.
I ask you (kevin), If you have an interview coming up and they ask for your resume in Word, do you really trust OpenOffice or do you boot into windows ?
Well I'm not Kevin but I'll give you the answer anyway. I'd do what I do every single day at work, type HTML into vim and save it with a ".doc" extension - Word users never know the difference.
I have Crossover + MS Word on my work computer, but unless I'm reading a Word doc, vim is the way to go!
Your "good" card from Sun doubles the price of the machine. You'd get much more bang for your buck buying an OEM PC preloaded with Linux than with the Blade.
Don't get me wrong, I love Sun equipment - my employer is a Sun reseller among other things - however, let's be realistic, the performance of the integrated graphics chip on the Blade is horrible. I found dropping my resolution to 1024x768 and switching to "no background" in CDE improved things from "horrible" to "frustrating".
I actually am happy with my Blade, for what it is - a Netra with an X console, but I am shocked that you are using it - apparently happily - as a serious desktop. Maybe the solution is not to use CDE;)
You must not have a blade. The graphics subsystem that ships by default is severely substandard and makes the blade 100 almost impossible as a workstation, believe me I know - I've got one.
It's possible that you could install Linux on the blade 100 and use a Wintel PCI video card , or maybe even Solaris and XFree86 but I haven't explored these possibilities.
My two-year old loves Tux Paint, and I am a huge fan of Defendguin. Unlike many other people who turn out "retro clone" type games, you seem to have a real skill for capturing the spirit and excitement of the old time arcade and console games. Circus Linux is a great example, it really is a worthy successor to good old "Circus Atari"!
I have a question for you, actually. About how many man-hours does a typical game take? I'm a programmer but I don't do games or graphic stuff (usually try to stay away from UI if I can:]), how much time does it take to get it "just right"?
My employer has deployed these Fujitsu tablets for customers in the automotive industry (car inspections). They're pretty cool, they run Win2k not WinCE, if I remember correctly they have 500 Mhz processors and 128 MB RAM. These units are almost two years old now, so probably the state of the art has progressed.
The bad news? They cost us about $6500 CDN plus peripherals (docking stations, extra batterys, hand scanners, and fold-out keyboards).
Karateka kicked ass! I spent many hours in high school on Apple II gaming... Ultima I - IV , Swashbuckler, Sea Dragon, and the original Wizardy trilogy. Man those were the days!
So to be kind of on topic or something, I guess I can say that I'm really glad I bought NWN, it's made me a lot happier than any other RPG I've played lately.
I was standing in line at Future Shop a year or two back, and the people ahead of me were buying an eMachines computer. I was surprised to see that Star Office 5.2 was bundled with the machine. I really don't keep up with what the bargain basement OEMs are bundling, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out this is still the case.
I have been down this road, and I have found that finding and X modeline for NTSC is very difficult. The default 800 x 600 modeline seems to work fairly well, at least with atitvout and my ATI-based IBM a20p, but there is still some blurring etc.
I have tried several different video cards, and my advice would be to go with an ATI card they seem to work best (in my limited experience) with TV for Linux. Avoid 3Dfx devices...
isn't that more an example of why slashdot doesn't work ;)

Agreed in general, but by doing so you are raising the cost of a wireless LAN extension significantly.

there are dockapps for Window Maker to switch resolutions and they list the color depth and res before you switch.
I have always wondered why there are not similar tools for GNOME and KDE.

I haven't found anything even remotely comparable for Linux
Have you tried Quanta? It rocks. On topic, I also use and endorse HomeSite for Win32, it's pretty slick.

Should I send you the list of people I need killed now, or wait until later?
dude the Karma system is an absolute scale, everyone will eventually hit the cap, even total nobs.
Actually, it would be a lot better if your karma was regularly decremented, say by one or two points a week...
Yeah, I spent a significant amount of time trying to squeeze another WM onto my sparc machine, with dissatisfying (but enlightening) results.
Eventually I got around to actually trying to use CDE, and I find it is a really nice, if aggressively unthemable, environment.
Thanks! You were right on the money.
