I know this is pretty much offtopic, but while we're on the topic of storage capacity... everybody seems to be focusing on the storage capabilities of GMail, but what about services like Ofoto? They've got more than 11 million accounts, yet only 1 million of those have ever placed an order for prints. Email is a known beast. I don't imagine that file-size per email will increase significantly in the next 5 years... but the same can't be said for the size of digital photos. How will Ofoto handle storing thumbnails and full-size copies of everybody's digital photos from their 12megapixel cameras in a year or two?

It seems like a lot of people here think that passing along the expense to the user is unfair. These are the same people that are proponents of Linux. Do the math... Windows costing more means that there will likely be fewer users of Windows because they can't afford it in their or their company's budget. Anyone that pushes Linux over Windows should be HAPPY that the cost is being passed onto the users.
You got a map to the long lost sense of humor too?

"This is not newsworthy. People traded insults and got into a fight. So it happened over the internet - so what?"
Eh, give it a couple days. They'd find out that some of the kids had video games on their computers, and there'll be a congressman blaming the whole thing on Pokemon.
I've always found plenty of humor that would fly over the heads of children in Pixar's movies. The setting may be in a children's world, but the humor has always appealed to a very broad audience. I imagine that's why they do so well... their art is suited to both children AND adults.
7 Tuners... allowing the recording of 7 shows at the same time.
Except that means since I live in a part of the country where virtually every channel is scrambled without a box, I'd need 7 cable-boxes. While it's great that this box would allow me to catch all of the episodes of Law & Order airing at the same time... something tells me there's not enough content, nor hours in the day to watch recorded content, to justify the extra $50 in cable-box rental fees.
I go downtown and lure small children into my car with candy, money, and toys. Then I drive them to my house and ask them to click on I Agree, Yes, or Ok.
So they've got their featured artist featured on the right side of the homepage. You'd think maybe you could click on the graphic and access those tracks? Nah! That'd be too logical. Usability. Start there, then add the fluffy stuff later.
Why isn't there a licensed DVD player for Linux? Is it that the DVD group that grants authorization for use just won't grant that license, or what's the barrier?
For anyone interested in grabbing AllofMP3's top-ten, I've compiled their current list.

"Microsoft's products all use formless colored figures as mascots. How come we don't get to use boring mascots like they do? "
For some reason when somebody thinks about using a word-processor, an icon with a pen on it comes to mind before a seagull grasping a fish. I know... I know... It doesn't make sense to me either.
Seriously... All of these open source projects seem to take a wrong turn when it comes time to market their creation. A crazy seagull with irrecreatable vectors as the hair-doo? People need to market this shit! Stop creating goofy mascots to go with your product. This isn't a Sega game. It's something you want to sell to a CEO, and he doesn't want a goofy shitting bird on his desktop every time he goes to open up a document.
All it does is increase the likelihood that the shows you watch will get renewed so you don't have to go stand outside a building and cheer for some crappy show on UPN or the WB to get un-dumped.
"This is such an awe-inspiring effort. Logging 200 hours of footage over 3 years...I can imagine the amount of dedication, effort, logistics & scheduling that went into making this possible. Hats off to you!"
Actually, the whole thing is just footage of a series of ANSI pictures and MUD sessions being downloaded over a 2400 baud modem while some 13 year old's mom periodically picks up the phone in the other room interrupting the feed.
"Simson Garfinkel... speculates that Google might even consider buying Akamai"
Translation... Simson Garfinkel owns mountains of Akamai that's worth a fraction of what he paid for it during its IPO, and is hoping that his "speculation" drives its value up.
"I tried a variation of that, called the "nitric acid trap" at my last job. And I do mean, my -last- job. Sigh. When will I learn. Some people have no sense of humor."
I didn't realize inmates had internet access these days. Say hi to your girlfriend Bubba for me.

I know most people are saying PETA might care ... but don't forget Willard!.
Nice and cheap ... only a buck.
... If you've got money for a vacation, you've got money for a used PDA.
On a more serious note

That last one is a bit of self promotion....but it happens to apply to this story.

Just like every other web portal. They'll give it away for awhile, then when people get hooked, they'll jack up the price.
