I mean, a-freaking-men to this comment. I love how we are just repeating the same god damn mistakes we made when we were on the playground as kids.
1 kid is a bully, and gets his way. Another kid is sneaky, and pulls a surprise on the Bully that leaves him smarting. Bully proceedes to go after anyone who looks like they might have had anything to do with that cheap dirty trick.
Damn W. I thought smart people learned from the past- I guess you are neither smart, nor willing to learn. Look at Vietnam! Look at the Soviet war! Look at the god damn evidence that tells it wasn't the people you are bombing to pieces!
And for those about to flame me, Mr W Jr has been planning an assault on the Taliban for months now. And the article (that I will look for) also states that even if Osama was handed over, they would still bomb them back to the stone age (oh wait, they are already there, aren't they)
How do we promote peace in relation to Isreal? They have a free reign to go out and terrorize Palestinians who don't agree with them. The Palestinians have restrictive laws that give them very few laws- much in the same way that the US used to treat the blacks of this nation. And yet, Palestinians out number Isrealis easily 3 to 1.
Peace? The US? Bullshit. More like "show me the money and we'll give you anything you want."
Ugh. How can you say that? StarOffice is a nice program to have if you have time and patience to download, install and then start the application. Most users are 56k users, and most users don't want to wait 1 minute for an entire office suite to boot up.
No, when you have Windows already installed, and you have MS Office already installed, StarOffice does not become a good alternative.
Now, if Gobe Productive for windows and linux can deliver, then you have a migration path.....
If the cost of living adjusted to what people are actually making, then yes, I would take a pay cut for job security. Knowing that you have a job that can pay your bills for the long term is a hell of a lot better than having many short term jobs that pay very well. You never know when the cuts are coming.
As an example, I left my company one day before they laid off hundreds of employees. They gave no sign of being in any kind of trouble. Until that day. I left thinking all was well. Guess I was the lucky one.
I have noticed that you prefer to work on the kernel and UI portions by yourself, leaving apps and drivers to other developers. When do you plan on allowing other developers to begin working on the core of the OS with you? This would speed up development of the OS.
Smart and lawyers is like Stable and microsoft. They just don't go together very well.

You could try and work your ass off for the next month with the new whiners coming into college, or else you could just give em all the finger and go get a quiet job at microsoft making solid applications and OS's for us all.
In other Olympic news, it was found that 2 time defending quake champion CowboyNeal was found to have 10 times the allowed dosage of caffiene in his system.
His gold medal status is pending until further review.
I was gonna say that this makes me wish the US had a state sponsored news web site, but then I got that really creepy feeling and decided that it might not be that good of an idea. What with the DMCA and all.....
No no, don't turn back your clocks. They guy on pbs.org says that those IIS servers are causing all this problem! No, for the love of all that is good journalism, don't turn back your clocks!
If the company that had him arrested suddenly finds that he didn't do anything wrong, I would imagine that the charges could be dropped, and he could go free.
I know this was just a 'see what I can do' type of thing. Kind of like porting linux to the kitchen stove. It doesn't do a whole lot, except show how ingenious people are. But why not take this a little further?
I know I'll get flamed for this, but why not create a port of the kernel merged with a gui? This would be wonderful for the desktop push that linux wants to go forward with.
I have done a little reading on this subject, and studied it a little in college. I always understood that because the temperature of the oceans controlled the temperature of the world more so than the land. And this was the problem. That global warming would lead to global cooling.
That when the temperatures reached a certain point (global, not local) that the ice caps would begin to melt, and this would cool the oceans, causing the global temperature to drop, causing something akin to an Ice Age.
Linux on the desktop suffers from lack of speed and stability. I have tried to use KDE 2.x on my desktops, and have given up because of the slowness and unresponsiveness. Sometimes the desktop locks up to the point that I have to reboot.
What I would like to see, is a desktop that is as full featured as KDE, but faster, and more effecient. Stability is a must. This will also help corperations and home users to want to move to linux. They can enjoy the end user experience.
What is the Kompany doing to improve speed and responsiveness to this desktop environment? Is speed and stability a top priority? I'll be honest, it doesn't look that way from an end users perspective.
I run ATT@Home in my home, and linux is my firewall/router for my home network. I don't seem to recall any 'special software' in order to run it. Of course I only get external equipment (cable hardware) so nothing goes in the box unless I put it there.
what's worse then that, is I always remembered watching the show, but never knew the name! So the looks I got were probably far worse than yours!
Whooohoooo!
Will someone explain to me why Microsoft is shitting bricks over OSS? I mean, Windows (all versions) still command 90% of the desktop. If he is bitching about the server room, then maybe he should release a reliable server at a reasonable price. What, can't do that cause of money constraints? Hmmm, seems to work just fine for Sun and RedHat.

Bush, I have one thing to say to you:
This is Eric Gnu.

If compaq needs advice on where to go now, they can always ask Be Inc. They know a thing or two about focus shifts.
