Found in the google cache: 20 Years Later Space Shuttle Columbia is Better and Safer
So with all these reports of a possibly ageing shuttle fleet (problems before the launch of the Columbia; possible damage during its launch), what's the use of endangering humans in "manned space exploration"? We could do it with smarter robotics...
Why risk precious lives if we could do it simply using better technology. IMO manned space exploration is a relic from the Cold War.
I hope the NASA really learnt from Feynman's words.
If you have come from Windows, then you'll probably feel more comfortable with KDE3. I'm a developer, so I'm prejudiced: you must be really really really self-confident to decide to write a web browser like Konqueror from scratch. I don't see anything like that in the GNOME world. (And even gtkhtml was a C port of the KDE khtml library...)
I like KDE too, however it doesn't have the flexible panels of GNOME. I don't care about using multiple desktops. I want cool panels.

Dude, you shouldn't update your server box with new linux releases. Stick with one trued and tried kernel version.
And believe me, for a server you don't need XFree 4.1.0 or emu10k.
Are you talking about the development process behind KDE? In that case you're right! :-)
there will be an open source project called emu86xzilla hosted at emu86xzilla.org?
And open source users who think they have a clue about user interfaces. That's why most open source applications have so many options.

the decision of linus to not accept the NUMA patches right away was correct. we now have a patch that doesn't affect non-NUMA archs...
Jamie misinterpreting an RFC and getting flamed; I think he misses programming.
Sure, here are the first signs. Hard to believe? Even Bob X. Cringely says "Even today, you can still get to a C: prompt under Windows XP, which means a disk operating system is hiding there no matter what Microsoft wants us to believe." I don't know what he means with this, but it has DOS in it.
If everyone leaves their windows open, what's the chance that a burglar picks your house?
Isn't this going to scare away users?
AMI?
For XFree86 there is Tiny-X.
When reading this article I noticed it had the ATI Radeon 9700 ad banner
Feature rich and user friendlyness are orthogonal.
A drop of tourism? Should we be worried about that?
Perhaps using technology found at the Roswell crash site?

Probably because of DRM.
If you have your own server, look for a Apache / PHP solution. Plenty of them.
You remember 16 bit protected mode, and having far callable functions and the mantra: set DS right!? Ugly.
Newbie did this:
/* 8 + 3 + '.' + '0' is 13 */
char buf[13];
strncpy(buf, "long-file-name.ext", sizeof buf);
and wrongly assuming that strncpy() would null terminate the string.
I hit newbie with K&R.

What about a Hollywood remake of My Dinner With Andre , with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone (as Andre; talkative for a change)?
