You know, Doc had no troubles picking humans from the train (by breaking windows, perhaps doors? I cant remember, as I was telling the kid behind me to STFU and LTFM (listen the fine movie)).

And then Spiderman stops the train by holding in its both hands lots of spider "ropes". I noticed that Spiderman was a bit crushed (poor english, sorry) into the front of the train. In real life, I really doubt that the first few wagons wouldnt be completly screwed, considering the speed of the train and the amount of pressure Spidey gave. Oh, and how come that passengers didnt fall off their chairs/spots?

Also, isnt it going to be a pain (compatbility-wise) to be PC- and XBox-compatible *AND* changing architecture?

I've heard about Linspire (Lindows) and (IMHO)think that there more "we want to make big money."

    You're right.

I got a copy of Linspire via Bittorrent. The funny thing about it: the tracker (bittorrent 'server') was linspire.com itself! They not seem to advertise it on the website, but I got the link via suprnova.

The first thing I noticed is: there was NO development tools AT ALL in the distribution. In other words, you couldn't download some program's source and compile it. That was intentional: they wanted users to use Linspire's "click-n-run".

I think this distribution is more centered about this click-n-run service (which is not free in beer) than anything else. The only thing I found interesting is the functionning Wine app already installed.

  12. Why Anaconda? on Fedora Core Doesn't Like to Dual Boot? · · Score: 1

How come Anaconda takes charge of partition handling? I mean, I dont get why C/H/S should be of any importance for Anaconda - why dont it just copy the files (the actual install process), then calls another program (grub? lilo?) to write the actual data (CHS) in the table?

Like I said, I didn't encountered the bug; i managed my partitions in Ranish partition manager before booting on installation.

  14. Remote controls and such things.. on Home Theater Keyboards? · · Score: 1

The only thing I fear is to not have enough flexibility on remote control products offered here and there. Example: Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum's remote control. Creative's software was REALLY limited for using that remote control; I had to rely on a third-party program to have enough flexibility. For example, when using Creative software I couldnt use the numeric keys (0-9) on the RC except in Creative's media player. There was other limitations too, but i forgot.

My point is: make sure you check for some alternative software in case the one coming with your brand new remote control lacks in flexibility.

In my province (Quebec, Canada), the law says that a person may be forced to see a doctor if (s)he's dangerous (may hurt - kill) against other people or herself.

It doesnt matter is that person doesnt clean up his/her room. Doesnt matter is [s]he says anything that doesnt make sense at all. But once you're aware that person is hurting herself, seek a local lawyer if any laws like this one may force that person to see a doc.

Example, a schizo. person said to me "i was fixing those x-mas decorations on the top of the tree then **someone** came and pushed me and I fell on the ground"

other examples, from what I saw from a schizo person:

    - Cutting power cables from radios. Seems simple, but what if the cables were still plugged??
    - Cracks in the glass. One time i visited that person and I noticed there was a new crack in the glass of the window. Maybe she did it with her fist, maybe not.
    - Food: seems that alot of schizo person thinks that some food is poisonous, then remove that food from what [s]he can eat. If kept not medicated, that person will have real troubles eating.

Altho I disagree with your point. Schizophrenia can be developped on people with families not having any relations with that ill (aka hereditary), and has more chances developping on people locking themselves at home with no social life. Just like some geeks may do. So i see that "Ask slashdot" question as well-placed.

Another point, if she says something thats wrong, do NOT say she's wrong. Saying she's wrong is like saying to an alcoholic that he's alcoholic. The best you can do in this case is to ackownledge (sp?) what she said and to not pay attention to that nonsense.

  19. Got AEI, too. on Worst Explanation From Tech Support? · · Score: 1

I just wanted to point out that I also use AEI, and I had a lil' problem activating my DSL line.

Looks like they have to send the postal address (complete, w/ appartment number) to Bell when some user wants to get a DSL account. What happened in my case: I said to the sales/tech person that my address was "*** rue Beloeil". Bell refused that address, tried again, had to wait 48 to 76 hrs, refused... after some research it looks like there was a "de" missing in the adress, so it was "*** rue DE Beloeil". I dont know if you understand french or not, but "de" in an address should'nt mean too much. Thats the dumbest error I had yet.

Also, just for your information I had ~630kbps upstream with a DSLREPORTS speed test, using a standard (non-ultra) DSL account.

And for the 40gb warning, i can't confirm because i never transfer that much (and what this limit is for? download only? both?), but I gotta agree AEI or whatever ISP would start loosing money when tranfering that much.
