this kind of thing should void all other apple patents for a term of 10 years, this way, companies would be more careful what kind of shit they'd fling at the patent office.
I love being detached from brainwashing commercials on Netflix, and I find that not being aware of what great new shows I'm missing has reduced my tv viewing stress level., browse, pick a show, click play and relax... so much better this way. I still enjoy the morning news when I'm eating breakfast but that's free over the air.
fat is cheap, eating healthy costs more money. Food companies find more and more ways to produce 'food' cheaper and cheaper until what you get is so far from natural and healthy food that it's killing people. Try to shop for organic or only non-processed items and you'll find that your grocery bill will double. I really think we could fund universal healthcare with beer and cig taxes, as to what guideline you'd use to tax unhealthy food I have no idea.
Microsoft Windows is really so much harder to use than Ubuntu. Everything on Ubuntu just works, and you have to fuss with windows to get it to do what you want, keep it from getting a virus, hunt all over the web to get software updates.....
I think the only reason Dell does this is because Windows is setup like a toll booth where you have to pay extra to get it to do anything useful or keep it running. With the Ubuntu Boxes they don't sell any add-on software because Ubuntu already has everything it needs to work.
somehow Apple will make using Opera a royal pain, some URL handlers or something in there so that those that try Opera will eventually ditch it and think "why did I ever think it could be better than what Apple force feeds me already?"
I ran into this problem last night trying to watch Netflix on the PS3. the Netflix disc gave me a cannot connect error.... Being a slashdot reader my first though was I'd done something weird with my router ports.. So Mucked with those for awhile first making sure I hadn't done something weird. Then I noticed the system date was wrong on the PS3. I tried "Set Time via Internet" which failed, then I Set time manually and tried Neflix again and it works as normal. I'm sure the Servers figured that a 10 year old packet was "timed out" and didn't respond (or the PS3 won't respond to communication from 10 years in the future).
the only reason we're not already doing something like this is the huge infrastructure in place... the way it's always been done. instead of bailing out banks we should let them bite the dust and spend about a trillion dollars on subsidizing solar to make it cheaper than alternatives (imagine solar roof being cheaper than traditional materials for new construction) Throw down some solar roads to upgrade the grid and soon the surplus electricity would be so cheap that it would no longer make sense to drive gasoline automobiles. With cheap power, savings spill over to most every other type of industy, and we can start keeping money in this country instead of sending it to oil companies overseas.
in reality, rich oil companies control all the worlds governments, we're all doomed.

Obviously your boss isn't good at making cables. While if you lack the skill to do something like make cables with care you're going to have problems, there's no reason that you can't make your own cables and have them perform just as well as the ones made by a machine in a factory.
Applications Like Boxee are a chance for Linux to make major inroads to becoming more widespread. The convergence of TV, Movies, and Internet content represent a major shift in the way people get entertained, and when traditional broadcasting through Cable TV and Satellite providers takes a backseat to interfaces like Boxee and MythTV, here's to hoping that Linux leads the pack.
I wouldn't have been able to see so far had I not been standing on the shoulders of giants applies to stuff that doesn't work as well. Some things, Like medicine, are too important not to have companies and researchers work together on. This is just an example of how legislature is created by money. The Golden rule: those who have all the gold, make all the rules!
here's my proposed compromise: 1. scan the users search results 2. upload data to avg database 3. next user that has those urls in a search result first check with the avg database to see if those sites have been scanned in say the last hour. 4. only scan urls that haven't been checked recently
of course, then the AVG server would take the brunt of the increased bandwidth, but hey that only seems fair. OTOH, why people continue to struggle with keeping a windows box running when they could just wipe and install a nice Linux desktop....I'm so happy my Ubuntu desktop doesn't expose me to these kinds of issues.

how can he expect anyone to take him literally and not see the real plea for publicity cloaked in a poorly executed attempt at reverse psychology?
oh wait, this is for windows users who enjoy the Microsoft experience, makes perfect sense, carry on.

The less competent everyone around you becomes. Are you sure you're not just getting too smart to teach CS 1?

in the grand scheme of things, it's good that you conscientious fuckers die off after 60 or 70 years or else we'd really look like assholes.
that's so hilarious, oh god, you made me laugh so hard.....

Worked for me, didn't try any games yet though.
