It's very difficult to properly treat someone who is delusional. In most of the US, patients cannot be forced into treatment unless they are actively suicidal or homicidal. In my experience, it's not that doctors turn them away, it's that they refuse to accept what's really going on and leave on their own.
Hmm good call - Whilst being somewhat ethically reprehensible (Paging Dr. House!) I wonder wether this might not be a good place for palcebo's combines with whatever drugs help ?
Actually I quite like that idea, of course Moregellons may simple be on the up due to the "me-too" effect. The delusions are capable of being spread some external factor could explain it (could also be chemically induced ?).
Hmm, hey this could be a cool little story line for ReGenesis - someone call NorBac =)
..One way or another. Ok, so I laughed at the "Grow your own sweater" comment =) but let's face it Only two options here - it's fake an in their heads or it's real and it's a problem. In the latter case, there are a LOT of strange diseases out there, we have procedures and people to investigate this and so they should. In the former case they still need help, though arguably of a psychiatric nature.
The healthcare professionals (Doctors/etc) should really not be turning these people away quite so easily imho. Yep we have a lot of 'crazy people' out there but it probably doesn't help having them sit in the corner of their houses spraying themselves with Raid/Baygon.
"The NW-HD1's primary format is Sony's own ATRAC 3 Plus - other formats are converted to that mode when they're transferred over to the player."
Afaik that is the same format as they use in their newer Minidisc's - and it's a BIG mistake in my opinion and not just because it needs to do on-the-fly conversions.
Simplicity would be nice.
The 'NetMD' minidiscs sucked because nothing but realplayer (still haven't forgiven them) could sync with them.. I have a feeling this won't be much different (ok I conceed nothing but iTunes syncs with the iPod out of the box - but at least it handles things in standard mp3/4 rather than realaudio)
I think I have met him once at a RedHat presentation in Sydney - he wasn't terrribly open source centric back then either.
I think it's probabaly a fallacy to think that the RedHat managers are open source evangelists - they are more "executives" than evangelists.
Even the current local RedHat CEO doesn't come across as your typical oss advocate. They are more business driven (perhaps unfortunately - perhaps not, depends on your view).
Right To be honest I can't clearly tell you why I like enterprise more than the other star trek 'flavors'
I too dislike that theme song, but let's be serious, a theme song does not make or break the episode =)
for me there is something about the character that keeps me wanting to see the next episode. Scott Bakula probably wouldn't have been my choice for leading man but in my opinion he is not the worst captain we have seen
for me the order of Star Trek series from best to worst is:
I am not convinced that adding a full size or even a compact keyboard to a home theater system is a great idea
Depending on your funds, it may be much smarter to investigate the use of a wireless pocket PC or similar device used in conjunction with automation software like girder to control your system. The upshot of this is that you can display information about the current media elements on the your control device. A truly smart remote control and with 802.11 the range would exceed your typical TV to sofa distance as well.
Please don't bring him back - don't get me wrong, Kirk was good in the original enterprise but for show that is seeking new funding to survive past the next half of season four and is competing with all those zillion reality shows - the last thing we need is Shatner giving yet another re-rendition of a character that he theoretically should be too old to play.
Enterprise is my favorite star trek franchise series don't mess it up please !
If it's live action anime you want - that one is a musty watch as well. There is some pretty slick CG work in there. If you watch the specials you'll see some of the really hard (and painful) work the actors had to go though!
It seems wherever you go these days we're taking photos of it - these days usually in digital. Having become the (proud) owner of a Canon 300D 6MP camera in the last few days I am amazed that in the good old days of the 8086, where Wordperfect 4.2 and DOS 3.0 didn't quite full a 10MB drive - today that same drive would hold only ~ 3 JPG photos from the camera...
and then there is the old saying that junk *will* fill the space provided.
I don't think that they can improve on the original. For exactly the same reason we still watch ST TOS - we love the style of the original stuff - I'd say you couldn't remake it if you tried.
Having said that I am all for the project - and I will be taking my towel (just in case).
I agree - When viewed on the angle of banning software in itself - That sort of thing sets those tiny little alarm bells ringing in the back of the cavernous space dubbed, somewhat grandiously, "my brain".
But for the life of me I cannot see anything positive "email harvesting or list-generating software" could be used for. But maybe that is just me.
The itsy had one of those a while back one of those Compaq/HP research PDA's that features the "rock'n'scroll" control. Much the same and now quite old.
He is living in NORWAY.. from memory the tempertaures during the most parts of the year were cold enough to avoind needing a beer cooler. In fact in winter you might have some troubles getting your beer out of the can in the first place.. short of a small hammer.
Then again no-one has ever accused a norwegian of being unable to get beer from a can =).. (Note: I am norwegian..)
The deal really is about Hughes whose main product is DirectTV - but I think they also have some stakes in the wireless data sector. Let's hope he brings some of that back with him to Australia.
It's Linux based - and they guy in the article is right it does occasionally get some false positives - curiously the smh site is one of the ones it gets =).
Mind you I much prefer we do the filtering rather that the gov'ment.

think of the irony considering what happened to that server after it's been posted here...
Now that is definitely a bad idea.. now TuxRacer... I'd throw on a Penguin costume and slide down the hill towards some well placed herrings... Sounds like my average weekend really. (well ok.. the Herring could bugger off..)

The Feynman ones are great! Get "six easy pieces" and/or "Lectures on Physics"

A brilliant piece of work, and an even more amazing soundtrack. PI.

Hmm... I still think we should be hiding the home computing (a la 'Trek), not turn them into clocks =).
Still it's on the right way. Call me when the whole thing is turned into a picture frame
very interesting - I am wondering how did you determine (and what are) the "commands" the section B lists ? .. did you disassemble the code ?
Hmm I won't bother to post this on core =) hehe it is mightily funny though ..
