  2. Probably the most sane candidate out there on Darth Vader Runs For President of Ukraine · · Score: 2

This may sound funny, but I'm serious, compared to current candidate line-up - Darth is the most sane of them all, compared to Yarosh, Timoshenko and Poroshenko he is much less extreme. If I had Ukrainian citizenship - I would definitely vote for him versus other right and ultra-right candidates.

Try Xubuntu with XFCE - a good balance of simplicity, usability and configurability for the GUI while exactly the same back end as with Ubuntu.

  4. Re:Learn a UNIX on Getting Beyond the Helldesk · · Score: 1

I fully agree with "Learn a UNIX" advice. Here in MA there seem to be a shortage of qualified UNIX admins even nowadays.

I've been trying to hire 3 Senior UNIX/Linux admins (long term contract) for last 2 months and I had to go through 72 (yes, 72) candidates that I phone screened before locating qualified individuals - and that's only the ones who passed simpler phone pre-screening. We needed someone who knows Solaris/Veritas/Linux well so that made it more difficult - but still, good experienced UNIX admins are definitely in demand.

If you have RHCE certification - that is always a big plus, 5 hours of hands on test do tend to identify who can make things work quickly and who can't. Solaris certs are also a plus, though not as valuable as RHCE IMO. And of course experience is above all important for everything.

So if UNIX is something you like to work on - it is easy to start on your own and work your way up step by step.

I've been running a workstation with 3 displays in Ubuntu (Kubuntu) starting with Hoary (5.04) without any issues, fully accelerated. I have two Nvidia cards with same chipset (Quadro) - AGP and PCI and use Xinerama to control display positioning. With 2 displays you should be able to use either nVidia native twinview or Xinerama, whatever works better in your case. Check for twinview option in your xorg.conf which you can configure manually, and I believe Gutsy GUI utility can be used to configure dual-displays as well.

I switched all my domains from GoDaddy a couple of month ago to namecheap.com. I got fed up by GoDayddy's consistent abuses of their power and ridiculous website design/functionality. I really like my new registrar - similar domain pricing and free WhoisGuard for a year, better management tools and website that doesn't hurt my eyes and make me wanna through up.

Up to 50" get LCD - no reflection/burn-in. New LCDs have a wide viewing angle and if you do some research you can find really good ones pretty inexpensive (42" under $1500, 37" under $1,000). If you need more then 50" you'll probably be better off with a midrange projector.

Almost no comments with 3-4-5 ratings, if I set threshold to 1 - shows only messages with 1 rating, "display highest scores 1st" doesn't work, browsing at threshold 1 shows for example 40 messeges at 2+, but if I switch to 2 - it shows 0.

This is a really bad decision for democracy in Australia. It all starts with censorship, then violation of human rights follows, etc, etc. In the 30th nazi started with burning books they didn't agree with, everyone knows what came after that. I hope that enough people will protest this law and have it overturned. And I hope no other country follows Australian example.
