Microsoft makes products that are like a screwdriver. It just happens to be one of those screwy star-shaped ones that nobody has.
If phillips had his way, it would be against the law to reverse engineer the X shaped screw, and you'd have to pay for his proprietary driver. They just didn't think to buy enough politicians to pass the MCSDA. (Mechanical Century Screw Driver Act)
bullshit! fuck you and your zealot distro. I've been feeding my family gentoo for six months, fucker. Listen asshole, my car runs, pollution free, on gentoo and my home is heated same. As soon as it finishes compiling my rocket, Gentoo is going to take me to mars so you and your faggot ass free only distro can enjoy this miserable blue rock until the sun explodes douchebag. You'll be dead someday, but gentoo promises to finally fulfill the dream of eternal life, retard. Right now, while I'm typing this, gentoo is turning lead into gold...
shit. etc-update just overwrote all my config files. I'll be back in week or two, asshole. Then you'll be sorry.
I hate to say this because I've been a naysayer for a long time, but winex/cedega is kicking serious ass these days. Halflife 2 and FarCry are cases in point. With native ports of Doom3 and UT2k4 this is a hard argument for FPS fans at least.

Celtx is pretty great, but it has a few major issues. In particular, lack of spellcheck and you can't see page numbers/breaks until you export to pdf.
Everybody is repeating the same nugget of obvious information that the article was based on. A piece of information that everybody here knows. This is a nothing conversation about the painfully obvious that's not going anywhere fast.
That's not true. The loki installer is totally happy to install apps into your home folder. You can do the same thing with firefox/moz extensions (hmmm?). The problem is that most linux devs, for security and philisophical reasons, build for multi user systems, and varying levels of permissions and shared libraries.
All that shit is solved real easy with big fat static-linked binaries that you unzip into your home folder.
In 1996 you got your choice of office suites; lotus, microsoft or corel free with a new PC. I don't think any of those suites, at that time, cost more than 75 bucks retail. Now there is only office for 300 dollars, and you get MS(doesn't)works free w/ a new pc.
I think the cost lowering is a side-effect of desperately trying to stay in business which only lasts a year or two before competing products are gone and then the MS product increases in price to compensate. On the other hand, OOo is free and MS can't compete with that except on quality and reliability. (that last sentence might accidentally be a joke)
These farmers should take a lesson from South American coca farmers who have created a large-scale informal distributed selective-breeding program that has, over the last couple of years developed round-up resistant coca without the aid of genetic engineering. There was a wired article a couple of months back that I'm too tired to track.
Are you kidding me?!?!? Call Dell tech support and tell them that you've 'changed' your system. No matter what the problem they will have you blamed your meddling for it and gotten you off the phone in 10 seconds.
The claims they make in their advertising, and the way they manage tech calls definitely entitle Dell and the other big resellers to a steaming slice of blame pie.
Finally, an opportunity to get my knitting show aired. If anyone from G4 is reading this; it's a show about knitting... FOR GAMERS. The needles are sharp, and so is the humor. This is a match made in heaven. G4 CONTACT ME!!! I've got other shows too that'll be perfect for the gamers; including an English Lit project that... it's just a fit. I know it.
It's true. As long as there are tracker sites to shut down, and webmasters to sue, johnny-12-year-old can download the latest snoop without fear of losing his college fund.
I believe that Bittorrent is faster because it links the speed of your download to how much you're uploading in the much vaunted tit-for-tat system. Too many Kazaa users turn of uploading which crushes the network whereas BT punishes you for so-doing... At least that's how the official client works. Some of the more pirate friendly clients might have 'solved' this problem, I don't know.
In fact, the beauty of the situation lies in their lame 'open box' policy. They usually won't let you return the product for a refund because it's open, but they'll let you exchange it. Why not have some fun bringing back a terminator boxed set every day. They're all going to be defective, and this way you can force Best Buy, or wherever, to damage out the entire inventory. If a few people do it, it WILL send a message and fast.
way to treat your god damned audience. why bdo they make these shows at all? how many times do you miss the end of your favorite program before you give up and watch something else?
Finally a spare couple of hours and now I've got to wait twenty minutes to download a feature I don't want.

I, for one, hope that they go the tomato route when engineering the super turkeys. It's my dream to find giant perfectly formed turkeys that can last forever on the shelves and look amazing on the table but taste... aw who cares just look at it.
This plan seems like a really good idea. Why hasn't anyone else... never mind.

Or will they foul themselves with what they pick up?
As Will injected the black ichor into the robot brain, I realized how much I would prefer the robot brain over 'The Administration'.

Labor shortage? How about outsourcing (insourcing?) some of those jobs to Detroit where there are surplus autoworkers?

Yes and we're all hoping that it PMP slaps the iPod, and that we won't have to put our sweet asses on the corner to afford one.

If those authentication servers get clogged up on tuesday there will be hell to pay. Hell.
If only they could have made the sailbarge scene dirtier....mmmmmmm....
Yes it is. Years, lawsuits and probably a few bad elections from now this e-voting crap will absolutely work.
