actually Texas has more restrictions on gun rights than Alaska or Vermont. IIRC, in terms of "gun freedom", it's in the 80% range.

I find this law ridiculous because unlike shooting at a range, the target usually moves when you're hunting and the feedback loop described by the lawmaker more than likely won't be quick enough for a clean kill.

someone needs to start a company that strip mines and recycles what's been put into landfills. I can't remember the scientist that's been taking landfill core samples, but it's been determined that once a landfill has been buried, the decay of the origanic material slows down and stops. the guy has been pulling up 40 year old newspapers and hotdogs that are in the same condition that they were in when they were buried. I would imagine the same would be true with cooking oil.

There is a 'launchmany' curses mode for the official client that will process all the torrents in a given directory. I recall the exact name of the command at the moment, but it's slick in that it will periodically scan a directory for new torrent or that a torrent has been removed. It will display the upload/download stats for each torrent on the screen and scroll this information if you have too many torrents to display in the current terminal. The advantage of this compared to running multiple instances of the regular curses client in several different screen windows is that the upload/download rate limits are enforced for all the torrents as a whole.

This little tidbit is even better:
Consequently, the energy content of nuclear fuel released in coal combustion is more than that of the coal consumed! Clearly, coal-fired power plants are not only generating electricity but are also releasing nuclear fuels whose commercial value for electricity production by nuclear power plants is over $7 trillion, more than the U.S. national debt. This figure is based on current nuclear utility fuel costs of 7 mils per kWh, which is about half the cost for coal. Consequently, significant quantities of nuclear materials are being treated as coal waste, which might become the cleanup nightmare of the future, and their value is hardly recognized at all.
