I've played Gotham on both, and Perfect Dark, and watch War of the Worlds and the new cut of Aliens vs Preditor on them. Neither have crashed. I preordered them from Sam's, and bought the games at Best Buy.
Actually it is quite the opposite. Clearly you have never been to Quakecon. This is typical hollywood hyprocrosy and nothing else. I don't know anyone who watches the out of touch with reality and highly fictional CSI. Do you? Like all TV on the networks outside of Family Guy and Simpsons it isn't worth the hard drive space to download.
That is not the title I would use for this story. Nothing is confirmed. Nothing is close to confirmed.
While the individual listings of CPUs on Dull's site has meant nothing for years that it has happened this could be real news. The question then becomes why is this happening if indeed this story is true? Reasons could be as follows.
1. End of the year price negotiation time with Intel. 2. Intel's see, AMD is doing good, don't come down on use for monopolistic practices Mr. Government man. 3. Dull finally does listen to customers after years of saying they do but lying out their teeth.
Certainly one must wonder what exactly Dull has one their mind for a product, and clearing the server and gaming/workstation segment is where they are getting killed on performance, and performance per watt. They can Apple up their product line all they want, but with analyts on their case for a poorer than expected quarter they could legitimately be looking to save some face. Their consumer electronic attempts have largely failed, and we all remember their attempt to take over the white box market, dominated by AMD. Not too pretty a pony for them on that idea.
Some may question if AMD has enough capacity for them. Those people haven't been paying attention. AMD has a new fab coming on line. AMD has a deal with IBM and Chartered Semiconductor for additional capacity if needed. Dull will not switch their entire product line from Intel to AMD. Anyone thinking capacity is a problem, Dull included, is foolish. This is a strictly numbers bottom line game. If AMD is hurting Intel enough, and therefor Dull enough due to outright demand, and share starts slipping, and customers start saying hello to HP, Gateway, IBM, and Sun, then something has to be done if Intel can not deliver in 2006 as it currently appears.
Surely it could also be insurance for the antitrust suit for Intel. They could come to Dull and say ok. The heat is on. Put out one or two AMD product lines. Make a fuss about it in the media. Don't push them through your sales force. We won't take away your discount, or bump you down the product allocation totem pole, nor pull coop marketing dollars. Just the illusion of AMD and Dull being all buddy buddy, and we could see this happen until the case blows over.
if slashdot had a page where you could see pending submissions? The the only difference is who decides what hits the front page. Do we really want to see all of the Slashdot submissions becomes the question.
Hey Johnson, we are running out of power in our datacenter!
Ok, I'll order more HP Xeon servers. They use more power, cost more, perform worse, and have a limited upgrade path. But Intel sends me cool swag so I use them.
Johnson, your fired! We are going Opteron, and raising our capacity 30%!
Yeah, Extremetech is after all a big tech publishers attempt at a tech enthusiast site. If you are in the $250-$300 range then you should spend $33 extra bucks and go with this evga 7800GT. It is worth the extra chunk of change. Not only will it be much faster than the cards that Extremetech recommends, but it also uses less power than the 6800GT, and therefor puts off less heat. That is a no brainer in my book.
Why exactly are we posting stuff that we knew months ago? If you are smart you want the dual core Opteron 165 that runs the same MHz as the X2 3800+, but with a full 1MB cache per core, and comes in at $300.
AMD is not glibbing victory. This is from an independant research firm, and these numbers come out every month. Everyone knows they don't include Dull sales. They also don't include HP direct sales. So fucking what.
It demonstrates the poor history Europe has in managing new resources. Can't you at least log in? As an anonymous coward ironically you are not relevant.
We're going more for quiet and reliable than for blistering speed: There's no intention of playing the latest 3D games on our TV, so we kept to the low-power, low-heat X300 card. ATI's TV Wonder Elite is one of the highest-quality TV Encoder cards on the market, though it unfortunately lacks dual-tuner support.
So they use a P4 at 3.2GHz? Extremetech just built the opposite of what 90% of homebuilt PVRs out there are using.
Did Intel do a massive discount? The standard is Opteron for render farms and for good reason. Much faster, much less power, and a superior upgrade path. 150 watts for the fake dual core Xeon, or 89 for a dual core Opteron. Hmm, tough choice there. Particularly when you look at the new Spec numbers for the dual core Xeon it is a massacre with Opteron well ahead still.
Blogs are the same as all the other sites started years before them. The difference? Bloggers don't have the skills to set up a website themselves. They have to rely on a blog service. I consider the term blog to be a deragatory one. Also the idiot claiming 400,000 a year. That is from several sites. They guy also seems unable to realize this great chitika service is actually just shopping.com with xml showing data on products. We have been using click on product as revenue for over 5 years. Hardly anything new, and before Adsense was around. I'm glad this crap gets posted, but things like our 64 bit Unreal Tournament benchmarks don't. It really makes for misleading and uninteresting content.

We overclocked to 3.2GHz. Also we have links to stories on the release.

that Dull is rebadging? It has higher contrast, and hopefully will show up in the US.

Slashdot Post Fanatics Show Hallmarks of Drug Addiction!
Yes, but for some reason everything XYZ submits is posted up. They must have some sort of deal with ./

Depends on what your game is, and how serious you are about multiplayer. If you don't care, sure, buy the 6800GS. I care.
Are you a gamer? If so what do you play?

We could clearly look at the current European economy for a current example. Educate yourself why don't you?

The UK's poor management of colonial America. Add in France and Spain to the discussion list.
