Open Source will thrive as long as people contribute for the right reasons: to help others, to improve and share their talents with the world and to offer free solutions that people would otherwise have to pay for. It's about advancing the intelligence and efficiency of the human race.
P.S. What Open Source isn't about is money (although it can be a happy bi-product with the right business model).
By nearly any account, I was a steller contributor.
Blow your horn a little louder, because I don't think you've started an avalanche in the Swedish Alps yet.
Yet again, even though these roles were done at the request of management, I never felt that my contributions in these special projects was appreciated in any way, shape, or form. May have just been my department though.
You're paid to do a job, and do it well. That's part and parcel of employment with any company. Why expect a pat on the back for simply meeting your obligations?
Microsoft is a place of work like anywhere else, not a nursery for geeks.
Truly innovative. I like how Nintendo held back on this amazing controller until after XBox and PS2 have commited to their "retro" designs (Sony have a good controller, they wouldn't change anyway).
Aww man. All the things you can do with that controller (the video explores some of the possibilities): "Luke, whose your daddy now?!"
I'll bet the ad would be mildly amusing for a 14 year old boy, but it really is unoriginal. I've seen that marketing angle taken many, many times (and it's usually w/ technology too).
...there doesn't seem to be a shortage of millionaires wanting to go to space..
I think you're right on the money (pun reluctantly intended) regarding the privatization of space projects, but no shortage of millionaires wanting to go into space? That's a bit of a stretch. For many with the moola, it's just a fleeing fancy. With the exorbitant price tag, exhaustive briefings and physical conditioning required even before they step onto a rocket, speak nothing of the safety risks, it's little wonder anyone would bother.
I don't discount the theory of Darwinism and evolution. I think it could well be a/the mechanism by which God prepared the world. Scripture says "Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground" (Gen 2:7) and I believe this, but perhaps Neanderthal and Cromagnon man were alpha and beta versions explicitly developed to work out any kinks?
Ditto for dinosaurs. Could these Pterosaurs for example be a kind of test run which was ended by the ice age (and a clean room reengineering created the animal kingdom we know today)?
I don't have a tv, nor do I want one, but every now and then I want to flake out to some non-interactive entertainment. Here are the sites I've found for free tv and video on the web (that I can remember at 1:48 a.m.)
I should add everything here is "family friendly", as far as I'm aware: no porn, uberviolence or gratuitous advertising (if I've somehow overlooked something, I apologise).
Yes, that Chinese writer will be seperated from his wife and children for 10 years, tortured and forced into hard labour, but let's take a moment and think about Yahoo and how big the Chinese market is! All that money's at stake...
Yahoo owners are in danger of "gaining the whole world, but losing their own souls" (Mark 8:36)
I particularly agree with rule #1: Find the right director. When I heard Sam Raimi was doing Spider-Man, I knew he was the right guy for the job. He should also get the Dr. Strange film if he's not too busy with S-M#3. However, Raimi would not be right for, say, Captain America. I would give that project to Wes Craven since it seems he's stretching out into action/suspense territory.
Ah... I could go on for days on this one. Any suggestions anyone?
"Mod me down" posts always seem to get modded up. Is this some kinda reverse psychology or something?
Justification or excuse?

pornography pervades the Internet and drives the adoption of new technologies
(I thought pc games did). Even so, it doesn't justify it's existance. Pornography is addictive, it distorts the viewers perception of reality, destroys families and eats away at the very core of our society because it dehumanizes people.
"And again, verily I say unto you, O inhabitants of the earth: I the Lord am willing to make these things known unto all flesh;
"For I am no respecter of persons, and will that all men shall know that the day speedily cometh; the hour is not yet, but is nigh at hand, when peace shall be taken from the earth, and the devil shall have power over his own dominion.
"And also the Lord shall have power over his saints, and shall reign in their midst, and shall come down in judgment upon... the world" (D&C 1:34-36).
God is not a respecter of persons, but He will bless and protect those who believe on His name and love Him.
As for His second coming, Jesus Christ has said in Matt. 24:6-7:
"Ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
"For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places."
Killer post gonzo. However, I use AllofMP3.com and I can download music in any format I want, including mp3. And the songs cost around a dime!
Disclosure: I'm from Canada and downloading music from p2p apps or AllofMP3 is not illegal (although the RIAA is working to change the law). In the U.S., I understand this is different.
Well, of course withdrawing water will give you headaches, drowsiness and even hallucinations. So let's cut down on that as well.
I think the word your looking for is "dehydration", which caffeine can actually do because it's a diuretic (which makes you urinate more frequently than you usually need to).

Your blanket statement is ignorant and wrong.
It said it's only open to U.S. citizens
Why not borrow from Raid bug spray?
"Kills Dell Dead."
and here's some others:
"Dell. Makes a better fertiliser"
"Sun spanks the competition"
"Sun powns noobs"

News for Nerds. Stuff of absolutely no consequence whatsoever.

I'll add http://www.japander.com/ (celebs do commercials and make asses of themselves in Japan), http://www.gametrailers.com/ and http://www.quicktime.com/ (for the movie trailers) but the list is still far from complete.
Alot of these sites are unfortunately not linux friendly (only sites compatible with mplayer and realplayer work on linux to my knowledge).

I'm hoping Mr.Stan Lee will take a few moments and read this recent article at Salon entitled:
How to make a superhero movie that doesn't suck

I'll go you one better: Ranxerox vs Lobo?
Unfortunately, the violence would be so much and so intense, it would make Quentin Tarantino squeemish. Not for me.
Just tell me who wins.

The problem isn't overpopulation, it's population distribution ...and the fact it's nearing the end of the world.

Has this not happened? Is this not happening?
It's called the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. It's been prophesied in the Bible, the Book of Mormon and by prophets and apostles old and new.
The entire city of New Orleans has been destroyed. Wiped out. This is an act of God, just as the Tsunami was in Asia.
