    According to the article, they're working with Canadian bees. So---so long as the bees are kept away from the hockey games and alcohol---nothing will go wrong!

    I second this idea. Not only are you supporting a locally owned business, but they're also supporting other locally owned businesses. And as a member, you can often get good rates for loans. Also, they're not responsible for all the financial woes in the USA. Well, OK, that last part is speculation, but it does sound good...

    Actually, no. The e-paper itself is NOT translucent or transparent. E-paper is a reflective medium. It's the top electrode on the e-paper, being made of CNTs and acting as a replacement for traditional ITO, that is translucent. However, ITO is very transparent, whereas CNTs are not. Notice the display in the article is rather dark.

    Also, ITO is not flexible, while CNTs are. That's why CNTs are being used to replace ITO in e-paper, which is meant to be flexible. At least, in principle.

    You must have a credit card on file to use their "buy it now" feature. No you don't. I use that feature often enough and have no CC on file with eBay.

    As far as your #4a goes, RouteSlip or Bikely are great for showing elevation information for routes. They're great for biking!

    Two thumbs up for the Chemex. I've been using one for about four years and love the coffee it brews. Very smooth flavor. My second choice is a Bialetti stove-top bomb. Those are also nice, but make a much stronger brew.

    Instead of a DSLR, you can make a pinhole camera out of a toilet paper tube and make even more interesting pictures! Or you can make it out of a shoebox or whatever else you have on hand. The images are often amazing, too.

    Actually, if you use the "prosper" LaTeX style (built on top of the "seminar" style), you can make the cool transitions with a PDF slide show. http://prosper.sourceforge.net/ would be the first place to look. It's quite a robust package, IMO.
