All you panic button hitting doomsdayers that are terrified this will ruin your precious Google search, go RTFA. It's celebrities posting videos answering the most common questions they get asked about themselves. It's canned video, not interactive and it won't answer any and every question you ask it with a celebrity. It's celebrities promoting themselves no different than they do on Twitter. This won't affect the average Google user in the slightest.
Typical conversation between Linux Desktop Support and a newly converted End-User:
LDS: Here's your shiny new Linux computer. It's much faster, much more secure and cost the company a lot less than Windows
EU: How do I get to my C: drive?
LDS: RTFM, you idiot
EU: How do I open the manual to read it?
LDS: man gedit, you idiot
EU: man what? how do I run the man command?
LDS: RTFM or man terminal, you idiot
And the Linux fanboyz wonder why Linux adoption outside of IT professionals is so low... smh
Someone that wants to vote should have to take the same civics test that someone who wants to be a citizen has to take. Most would fail and then we wouldn't wind up with another "Clinton/Trump - Who do I hate the least?" election.
This is the problem with a President going out and creating legislation through Executive Orders. The next President that comes along can just as easily undo them with the swipe of a pen. This isn't something new to Obama or Trump, it's been done by multiple Presidents. If you want a law to stay a law, have it ratified by the LEGISLATIVE branch, not the EXECUTIVE branch.
I know the majority of voters in America can't even name the 3 branches much less describe their function, but a simple civics test at the polling booth could easily weed out those that should be allowed a vote in our Democracy versus those that should be sent to an American Idol polling booth and would never know the difference.
Wish everyone understood it like this. Protecting our rights isn't about protecting only the rights of those we agree with. Everyone has the same rights. We have to specifically protect the rights of those we disagree with if we expect them to do the same once our rights are the ones being violated.
During my time at Big Blue (prior to working from home being acceptable) we tried convincing our manager to let everyone on our team to work from home with the exception of one person rotating through the team to come in and be available for things we couldn't do remotely (swap cables, rack equipment, etc.) We were told by our manager that he could go to his manager and present the idea, but that we had to keep in mind if we were saying that our job could be done from anywhere in the world that it would become obvious to upper management that it could be done from ANYWHERE in the world....
As it happened not long after I left they outsourced almost every job anyway. So kind of surprising they later allowed people to work from home and then reversed it again.
Yes, I did forget the tags in my post. Most people were able to decipher it on their own, but I see from your username you are a bass player. I should have dumbed it down some.
All my days are fun, enjoy yours as well!
According to your deity Al Gore it was supposed to have already happened. Irreversibly. Irrefutably. I moved to Colorado expecting I'd have ocean front property now based on his Inconvenient Propaganda. Yet here I am high and dry.
To quote Charles Babbage: "I am not able rightly to apprehend the kind of confusion of ideas that could provoke such a question."
By that logic you could say that the Mainstream Media no longer does any investigative journalism, they just spout off their talking points, so we might as well repeal the 1st amendment.
The 4th Amendment has been garbage ever since the Patriot Act was passed, so we might as well get rid of that one as well.
Any part of the Bill of Rights you think still applies or just so much toilet paper?
Just in case you haven't actually read it over any time recently, here you go: https://nccs.net/online-resour...
You're right, it is simple. Do nothing to resolve the underlying issue, just do something, anything, that feels good and makes it feel like you're making a difference. Think of the children!
Timothy McVeigh chose a truck, fertilizer and diesel fuel. Why is there no outcry to take those away as an option?
The Tsarnaev brothers chose pressure cookers and ball bearings. No outcry to take away that option?
Go do a Google search for mass killings that didn't involve firearms. Educate yourself on how simple it is for an evil person to kill as many people as possible using a variety of methods. We can't outlaw them all and anyone foolish enough to think outlawing a single method will stop this behavior needs to examine the facts, not the feelings.
It's worth it to keep rebuilding just to keep them from moving to Colorado. No earthquakes, hurricanes, tidal waves, quick sand. Just the occasional tornado and blizzard. Err, I mean Kansas, not Colorado. All you Californians, keep on driving till you hit Kansas. It's REALLY safe there.
But seriously, there's natural catastrophes anywhere. Colorado is considered safe for datacenters etc, but we have flooding, tornadoes, blizzards. You could make the argument that humans shouldn't build infrastructure anywhere because it's not safe.
1.) Energy... it takes a lot of energy to keep a car in the air. We already have flying cars, helicopters and planes. People don't use them because they're expensive.
2.) Maintenance... have you seen how people maintain the majority of cars on the road? How many broken down cars do you drive by each day on your commute? Imagine a non-maintained flying car crashing into a houseful of kids. Think of the children!
3.) Traffic control... airplanes and helicopters are easy to guide now because there aren't that many in the air. Once we all have flying cars, you either need to establish "lanes" like the roads we have now or have an always on, always capable collision avoidance system working in full 360 degrees in all 3 dimensions.
Until those problems are all solved ( 1. Nearly unlimited fuel source 2. Required maintenance that disables vehicle if missed 3. Guidance system with collision avoidance that's weather proof, bird proof, etc.) flying cars will remain science fiction and expensive toys for billionaires.
Google Doublespeak and you'll see that just because someone keeps calling something by a different name over and over not every thinking person has to accept the new name and blindly start calling it by that.
I question your knowledge of weapons as a self-proclaimed owner of multiple firearms. There's no such thing as an "assault rifle." The AR on the big, bad, scary black rifle stands for Armalite Rifle, not Assault Rifle. And my 30-06 hunting rifle has a longer range and greater stopping and penetrating power than my AR-15. Should the 30-06 be reclassified as an Assault Rifle or is it safe because it's painted with camouflage pattern rather than black?
Think of the children! We need laws and fines and prison time! Senate hearings, 5 new government agencies for oversight, anything to avoid any personal responsibility!
I think the guys at space.com are probably a more reliable source than anyone at NASA. Not like NASA has any rocket scientists left to get this sort of information from. =-)
^^ This....
Winning!
Methinks you don't understand sarcasm.... There really should be a font for that.
Why bother linking individual events to global warming when everything that happens is directly related to global warming?
Q: What do you call a Native American outhouse with a buried sewer line connected directly to a waste facility?
A: PPTP

Are the Darwin Awards still around?

Thank you for proving my point. Step into this photo booth over here and tell the camera what you think about the judges this year.

Even the most extreme models predicted a sea level rise that would produce that particular real estate in Colorado.
The English language is a difficult one. Thank you for agreeing with me in your post, even though it makes you look as dumb as a box of rocks.
