Apple isn't really a techie phone. It's strength is in it's simplicity, not its ability to customize and hack. I think most would-be pirates would look elsewhere.

  2. I wish developers concentrated more on playability than graphics these days like they used to. I don't care how realistic a game is if the gameplay is crap, yet I know where most developers spend most of their money.

I also know why, it's much easier to sell a game that has amazing graphics- even if they end result is something that offers little entertainment in the long run.

All consoles are "good enough" to play great games with good graphics.

I quite agree. The original Freeciv game is at par w/ Civ 3: we are now at Civ 6.

In some ways that might not be a bad thing. I haven't tried Civ6 yet, I'm waiting for the inevitable gold version at 1/4 the cost and loaded with all the expansions.

Some of the "middle civs" maybe 2, but definitely 3, and 4, were amongst the best for playability and enjoyment. 5 was visually stunning, and no counter that UI has improved over time; but I feel playability peaked at 3, or 4 (with all expansions). 5 wasn't even playable until the 2nd expansion came out. It was a hideous joke at launch.

I haven't played 6 yet, but I get the impression it's been dummy-proofed with the console market in mind, rather that a traditional civ game. I will buy it, I've played all the others, I'll just wait a little bit for the expansions.

Freeciv being at a Civ 3 level might be perfect for those of us who care more about the game than the graphics. More about the fun than the User Interface.

This would have broad appeal across a wide range of people. R&D costs spread across the whole of humanity means the pill should be fairly inexpensive, especially when you consider economies of scale. (plus politics will make this important to get to the people).

I legitimately felt better at 30 than I did at 20 because I lived a healthier lifestyle. Unfortunately by 35 started getting arthritis and various joint pains and it quickly got worse year by year, by 37 there was not a day I didn't have pain somewhere.. I suspect I'm going to be a mess by 50.

Age reversing pills won't grow back cartilage either, so I'm screwed even if they come out with age reversing pills unless they find a cure for arthritis or I become a cyborg.

If overpopulation was a big enough problem, I think we'd put more scientific emphasis into making self-sustaining other-world colonies.

In all likelihood though we would never reach an unsustainable population even if you doubled the population on earth. In Africa alone there is enough arable land to feed 12billion people with current technology. (the problem is getting the money for distribution and modern farming there).

Other resources, such as water might become problematic. So we would need expensive desalinization plants and pipelines. Oil might be an issue, and would force us to diversify energy production. We can fit a lot more people on this planet and get it to all work... It might make standard of living go down in general across the world- but we can certainly keep expanding until we have the technology to colonise the solar system.

Too bad, I'm going to tell you all about Snapchat anyway. Snapchat is a chatroom for talking about the classic children's card game "snap". The game of snap is making somewhat of a resurgence in the 21st century.

Instagram is a scientific community based on finding ways to weigh things instantly in grams. As you can imagine, this is a purely European endeavor. There is a less communist version on the web known as Instaounce.

Facebook, unlike what you might expect, is not a book of faces, infact, it's a place to discuss maintaining "Face". It was first founded by Sumurai's centruries ago when books were still used, hence the name. Nowadays it takes place mostly on computers and papyrus.

I'd use Amazon more if they filtered out the "for-pay" stuff and had a UI similar to Netflix. I hate Amazon's UI. I think they probably have a larger library of free stuff (worth watching), but their UI is so bad I'd pick Netflix over Amazon if I could only have one.

In the UK it might be a while because a lot fewer people own a gun and those that do are less inclined to break firearms laws. There is also a lot more acceptance of surveillance (something some people in the US will accuse Amazon of if they fly over their land, especially if camera equipped).

Here in the US, more guns, more people willing to fire guns... yeah... it won't take long before someone claims it is invading their sky rights and shooting it down over privacy rights (or some teens just doing it for a lark).
