"Yeah. Too bad, though, since dropping gravity bombs from planes had its heyday during 1935 to 1955."
There have been more (tonnage) dropped since 1955 than in the 2 decades you mentioned. (And thas even discounting JDAM's and laser guided gravity bombs. Of course nearly all of it was dropped by US or 'Allied' planes.
"Nobody's tried doing that for a long long time."
Not against the US navy, since it has always had air superiority since after the Vietnam war. However The Royal Navy suffered many hits during tthe Falklands war in 82. Only one warship was sunk by an exocet missile.
"What you do is stand off 20 miles and shoot a missile at the ship"
Hopefully the laser can hit the missile too. But I doubt anyone could get within 20 miles of a carrier battlegroup if it was in open water.
I guess he didn't patent it, probably becuase he didn't have the slightest idea how it could work. (I am refering to the feature that lets you swordfight with them, and also block incoming laser blasts.
Anyway the most he can claim ownership to is the name.
Say did he ever sue Ronald Reagan over the Star Wars strategic defense initiative?
wouldn't it work better with cold (or at least room temperature) water? After all there is a lot more water around at ambient temperature. And if the ambient temperature gets to 60c then global warming has gone too far, and the planet is uninhabitable (by humans anyway.
I think most helium is produced by stellar fusion of hydrogen. (May have been a previous star that went supernova and seeded the nebula that created the sun and the planets billions of years ago.
So we still have PCI Express for video cards, but whats going to be the replacement bus for other cards (sound cards, wireless network cards, additional Hard drive interfaces, extra USB ports, and custom stuff?
This method does make sense when you are voting for the members of an elected body , like a city council or school board (or a parliament). Suppose there are 10 positions to be filled, and a couple dozen candiates then you get 10 votes, which you could spread out over a number of candidates, or just one if thats the only one you like. The top 10 vote getters get seats on the council.
It does not make sense if you are voting for just one position (like the president of the USA.) If you are splitting your votes there, then essentially you are cancelling yourself out.
I don't speak German or read German newspapers, but from my knowledge of english-language newspapers, Headlines are raely sentences, and often don' make sense.. Often they are written to be a clever play on words. I suspect tht there is a headline writting class in journalism schools.
Anyway since headlines are a very short summary of an event, and a lot of events are similar to past events. (eg man drowns in flodded river) I don't think they could be copyrighted.

Perhaps if you were coming from another star, after beimg accelerated to a few percent of c by giant lasers.
"assuming a fully spherical distribution..."
But of course its not emitted in all directions. Its a very narrow beam coming out of the pole of a black hole.
"I've got accidental gun deaths at 10% of homicides, not 1% ? "
If its accidental, shouldn't it be manslaughter?
Shouldn't we be building breeder reactors that make Plutonium? It might help with global warming by retiring some caol fired power plants.
I would have thought a British Petroleum gallon was about 4.53 Litres
Don't you need Douglas-Martin sunpower screens to power the thing

Isn't their name for their own country "Hellas"
And 10^27 isn't that impressive. Its much smaller than a Googol

Anybody remember a TV show called Automan. He had a car that did 90 degree turns "like pacman" but it was hard on the human occupant...
I doubt that the gentleman in question was having children 300 years ago or so when the calendar changed.
Anyway I thought that (in the general population) there is a higher probability of a child being conceived being a boy.

Why not refer to it as "The Supreme Court"

the only cars around 200 years ago (1810) were steam powered. I think the first ICE cars came out in the 1880's
