See thanks to all your guys free publicity in wanting to slam this horrible game, it has sparked an interest that has driven the game's sales rank to 5th!

Now all those people who bought this game because they wanted to see just how bad it was could have spent this money on say, something made by Looking Glass.

So why must all the topics that are deemed "relavent" be limited strictly to what tech geeks and those who think linux is the answer to all of life's mystries (the real answer is 42)?

I am not saying that i hate linux (i use it). What i am saying is that the editors should give more thought into what the readers are interested and not just what linux-geeks are interested. I am afraid to think of what has Not made it to slashdot because of the discriminatory attitude such editors as cmdrtaco seem to display as evidant in his posting.

The stock market in all its forms should be relavent. It forms the very basis of the economy and therefore are lives. Tech stocks or not!

Anyway when i got to the end I was surprised to find out that the author of the piece was none other then Michael Crichton himself. Conflict of interest perhaps?

  12. Re:Like Breaking Out of Bondage (slowly) on Chuck D Gives Props To Napster · · Score: 1

I agree with previous post on a whole, but i would like to add something.

I support mp3 trading. I have spent more money on cds since i started trading then ever before. With that said i think that we should expect more from "artists." The way i see it true musicians shouldn't be doing it for the money. Just like linux hackers don't don't expect "monetary rewards" for their deeds. I expect a true artist to want his music to be heard as much possible and not want to limit the means in which it can be heard. If mp3s offer a means of broadening the artist's audience then they should be for it.

So you are probably thinking "well full time artists need to eat!." fine they can make their money from performances, that is where the real money comes from anyways. "well they don't have someting that can be performed," fine then release a cd. If you are good, you will be supported by your fans.

I have more to say, but it isn't like anyone will get to read this as moderators never touch my posts.

First of all i was REALLY looking forward to this. I loved everyone of the books in the series, and unlike a lot of people i enjoyed the movie, dispite it's short commmings.

So when i heard that Sci-fi was making a mini series and actually going to the desert to make this thing i got very excited.

Now when you think of DUNE you probably think of dark skined fremen in stilsuits with BLUE IN BLUE eyes carrying knives made from sandworm teeth. instead those pictures show a bunch of geh looking white boys running around with their chests showing and people out in the desert without any stilsuits!

At least Kyle Maclaughlin (sp?) reminded me of Paul. The guy they are using looks completly out of place in this part.

I for one will not waste my time by trying to watch this anymore. At least now the movie will not be regarded as the worst portrayal of the dune series, because this will certainly take its place.

Now think about this for second. I don't have actual facts but just how big a portion of Ford are made up of actual engineers? or people with college degrees for that matter? Most likely a large portion of Ford's work force consists of people suited for just what they are doing... mechanical production.

If anything I see this as a way for Ford to gain relativly *cheap* publicity. Can these computers really be "high-speed?" i think at most they will probably be striped down celeron systems. Add to that Ford can now demand a higher level of increased productivity without having to pay a large force of tech guys to oversee these computers.

But most important of all Ford now has the right to look into the lives of its employees like they have never been able to do before as evident in the recent airlines incident.

I just think that if the majority of people in this technological gap that you describe, don't have computers because they do not see an immidiate need for them. Their lives are no worse without them. If they had a need they would have purchased a computer long time ago. This isn't 1996 anymore Katz.
