There will be some warming, but not enough to cause any alarm.
Unless we reach a tipping point. in which case it doesn't matter what we do, we will all be fucked. After that the best we can do (as a species) is try ride out the storms, the droughts, and hope that some of us make it through the next phase, which is worse btw, another ice age. We may survive as a species (I think) but our civilization will be back in the dark ages.
There is no need to impose hardship on anyone when the solutions are more desirable on their own
For whom? Do you honestly think mega corporations like the petroleum / oil industry are just going to roll over and play dead because something better came along? I know it's just conspiracy theory talk, but how many people have "disappeared" when they showed up with a car that could run on water?
One of the major problems we have is population control, people keep fucking and breeding, I don't see the solution other to impose some hardships, like China did with their one child policy. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.
I bet you are one of those people who doesn't bother to recycle because "They will do it afterwards, why must I bother!". Sadly you are wrong, they don't, it goes into a landfill and gets buried. Even places that do recycling and fetch your nicely separated recyclables don't bother trying to recycle it if you haven't cleaned it properly first. They simply chuck it into the landfill.
There are better batteries which they stopped producing way back, there are apparently some companies which still produce them, but I can't seem to find a price list etc. Nickel-Iron batteries
Lots of people trying to build them in their backyards though. These would be shiit for a car or your cellphone (energy density is too low) but for energy storage for a house it seems perfect, as long as you have enough room that is. The battery life is in decades, even with constant charging and discharging.
I live in a country where there are laws against using your phone while driving (even if you are stationary) and I live in a city in that country that has passed by-laws which give them the right to confiscate your phone until you pay the fine. Still happens all the time of course, but I have lived in most major cities here and it does not happen as often where I am now. Personally my social circle is clearly a lot smaller than most people, I hate having WhatsApp etc. on my phone, but work uses it, and the wife uses it so...
When I get home at night and don't have to make sure I am available (for whatever reason) the phone goes on silent. I will catch up on all the messages the next day, if you really need to get hold of me you would have my wife's number, and she never goes anywhere without her phone (unlike me, I frequently take the dogs for a walk without my phone).
I would tell him he is a cunt and go to hell anyway, that's where all the decent musicians went. The last thing I want to do is listen to fucken gospel music for the rest of eternity. I would rather roast in hell listening to some decent music. I would also suggest you widen your horizons and go read some Greek mythology, but that won't help if you haven't read the bible from cover to cover. You have done that, haven't you? I can count on one hand the amount of people (sadly preachers too) that have actually bothered to do that. I did, when I was a believer, and then I ran out of shit to read in the library and picked up a book of mythology. The bible is a hodgepodge of different religions and beliefs, way predating christianity. Any "maker" who allows the shit to happen in the world that does happen can go fuck himself with a flag pole. Also try reading Memnoch the Devil, an interesting look at God and the Devil.
Zigackly - when I moved out of home it was to live with 3 other friends in a 2 bedroom flat, no car, no cellphone, had a landline for a bit - but people using it were not contributing enough to the bill so we canned it. I used to walk to work every morning 6.2km and back, if I was on standby and got called out I would jog to work, but then I was a lot fitter back then. Eventually bought a bicycle. Only go out a couple times a month, and then mostly to the local shit hole pub with cheap beer, and even then you get your buzz on BEFORE you go so you only drink one or two beers in the pub. Did not get my own flat until I was about 27 - and then it was a small little bachelor pad - still no car, so public transport it was because I now lived too far to walk it. My niece and nephew - both in varsity now, whining constantly about not having their own car - want money so they can "go out with my friends" etc. etc. Oh and they still live at home.
Yeah cities suck, but you can find shit there. I was living in one of our smaller coastal cities - if we wanted to go to a concert to watch an international band we had to fly to one of the bigger cities. I needed a specific audio cable - had to get it mailed from one of the larger cities - and the posting and packaging cost more than the cable. Upgraded all the families gaming PC's - was cheaper to get it from one of the larger cities. Now bear in mind I WAS living in a city, just a shitty one. Cities have their attractions, traffic is not one of them - but public transport IS.
Not sure what it's like in your country, but in mine if you earn below a given amount (not sure what it is) then you do not pay income tax. Never mind, went and looked it up, if you earn below 1.2 thousand USD a month, obviously converted from our own crappy currency, but you get the idea. If you are above that tax ranges from 18% up to 48% - some years I will get an increase and actually come home with less money because I moved into a new tax bracket.
I disagree - what's dumb is thinking we could possible endanger a planet that has been around for ages and will be around until the sun explodes. WE might not survive the centuries it will take for things to settle back down again - a lot of species will disappear etc. but the planet is going to continue on just fine. We could have a nuclear war and in a couple hundred years no one would know humans existed.
Why bother posting if you don't care about anything
Well clearly I do - since I posted it. I don't care for humans, because they are selfish and short-sighted - I also don't care for people who post inane comments that don't add value to a conversation, so much so that I have to post again to clear up your misconceptions.
Yeah, but the cost is almost double the price of an Uber ride. My wife and I went to a concert in the middle of the city, we planned to go have a couple drinks afterwards and find some dinner, usually we take turns being the designated driver but we both felt like drinking, so we took an Uber. That same day there was some violence between Uber drivers and metered taxi's, so the Uber driver didn't want to get too close to the city center (where there are a lot of metered taxis), so we got him to drop us a couple of blocks away and walked. On the way home there were even more metered taxis about so we didn't want to order an Uber in front of them and possibly get caught in the middle, so we took a metered taxi home. Same trip, double the price - and he was giving us a "special" price, so if we had been tourists who knows what the end price would have been. We also had to listen to him whining about the fact that to get back to the city center he would have no fare back - I think he was just trying to get a bigger tip or something, but you don't get that from an Uber driver.
I use Uber a lot when it's raining - I hate riding my motorbike in the rain. One trip was particularly interesting (I always chat to my Uber drivers - makes the trip seem faster) when I asked the driver how long he had been with Uber, he said almost from the start (of Uber in my country). He had been working for a metered taxi company which was approached by Uber for drivers when they were planning to launch here. Of all 30 odd drivers only 3 passed the Uber background checks. Here the violence with Uber is more about the metered taxi drivers losing rides to Uber - and they are not allowed to join.
Yeah, not quite, more like the old "treat me like a dick and I will commit violence against you" argument. Sadly played. Try READING my post and actually responding with a counter argument or a different view point. All you have posted here is "drivel", and the only reason I bother replying is that I hope you will one day grow up to realise that. If you are going to post crap, don't bother posting.
Because taxi's are more expensive (at least where I live) than owning a car, unless you work from home and hardly ever use the car. If those thousands of people who wanted to go home at home time did ride sharing that would be a quarter of the cars on the road. If the car could take more passengers than it would mean even more cars off the road. 99% of the cars on the roads when I am going to work contain ONLY a single driver with NO passengers. I'm pretty fucking sure a LOT of them are heading in the same general direction every fucking morning. Properly organised ride sharing would eliminate a lot of cars. Less cars mean we don't need 4 lanes on highways, intersections would not need stop lights, since timing each car passing through the stop lights would eradicate them. Less stopping and waiting at those same stop lights would speed up transit times, meaning the cars could make more trips and be more economical while doing it since they would not be constantly accelerating and braking to such a large degree. Something like this has been attempted before, they were called trains. But the infrastructure was large and problematic to the point where they never really filled the convenience of having your own car. After all most people don't have trains stopping at their doors, or would want it with hordes of people using it. But a self driving, ride sharing car which will pick you up in front of your point of origin and drop you in front of your destination while you read a book or waffle on slashdot is another thing entirely. How would you like reliable transit times so you don't have to factor in extra time to make an appointment, or at least not as much as is needed now, sounds bloody wonderful. On a really good day I can get to work in 20 minutes. Most days it takes twice that. 20 minutes of my life back while I read a book in the other 20 sounds bloody marvellous.
I'm not asking you to be "pleasant" since I think from your response that is beyond your damaged personality. All I was saying is you don't have to be an asshole to strangers you don't know on the phone when you feel safe that they can't reach over and give you a smack around the head. If you want to hate someone hate the people who employ them. Educate more people not to buy their products, try bringing something more positive into the world instead of just being another tool. I would also love to see you stand in someone's physical presence and be that rude, because you wouldn't do it - and I would laugh in your face, knowing full well you wouldn't do anything about that either other than slink away like the cowardly wanker that you so clearer are. I would also like to point out that not everyone has a degree or a trust fund or whatever so that they can pick and choose how they put bread on the table. Sometimes they don't have a choice. There is a very good reason most call centres are based in India. But I suppose having empathy for people stuck in a crap job because otherwise there would BE no job is way beyond you. If I had to pick if a call centre person died or you, well I know which one I would pick.
While there are people who just live off the FREE SHIT and don't actively get a job or try to get back on their feet, the vast majority are just people who have fallen on hard times. The fact the the system that supports giving out FREE SHIT has to be secured against the people abusing it by using invasive privacy techniques like biometric scans is not a fault of the system, it's a fault of the people abusing said system. Biometrics is invasive, and I don't like it. Come up with a better solution and you will have more money than you can count. In fact the real problem is that signing up for one government system to get FREE SHIT should not involve the sharing of that data with every other person on the planet. THAT IS THE PROBLEM!
A case in point, they recently installed camera's in my neighbourhood to record the number plates of those entering and exiting it, in an attempt to bring down property crime. My wife was fine with the idea, I however have an issue that whomever now has access to that database of innocent and well intentioned data knows when my wife is alone at home, and I am off to work. Who has access to that data? How secure is it? It can also be used to track police and private security patrols, if it can be linked to my vehicle registration they can decide if my vehicle is worth being stolen, and if it's a make and model with a know security vulnerability they can use that as well. All without leaving their armchairs. When is your daughter alone at home? Think about that.
So no, I don't like them collecting all this data for the simple reason that it's very very clear they cannot protect it. It CANNOT be protected, so fucking stop collecting it.
not only have I won, but they may rethink that crappy job
Perhaps, but I knew a telesales guy a couple years ago, he was doing it because he could not find any other work - seems cruel to put someone through that just because you don't approve of their job. A simple, "No thank you" - click - also works and will save YOU time.
Troll - go back to your doctor and ask for some more blood letting, and while you are there play with his nifty magical table cloth made from asbestos.
"Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time" - Winston Churchill, 11 November 1947.
If you are going to quote someone, quote them properly, with the full quote, and not some paraphrased version.
Seems yet again, one party cannot accept any responsibility for what it passes. On one side it's "blame the other guy" for what they do, and then "blame the other guy for not stopping us!".
So get rid of BOTH FUCKING PARTIES! It's a pretty shit democracy if your ONLY presidential choice is crap and crappier.
people "roaming the streets" now are NOT from activities 40 plus years ago.
So they rescinded that decision and people who are a danger to themselves and others are being kept in new shiny facilities where they can be evaluated and rehabilitated / helped? Or are both your political parties still waffling on about who is to blame for what happened 40 years ago while the problem is still roaming the streets and shooting the shit out of your schools?
Slightly off topic, but wtf - from an outsiders viewpoint there is very little difference between your 2 political parties! One likes abortion, the other doesn't. One likes guns, the other doesn't. Big woot.
What the outside world sees is that both parties like shooting the shit out of countries they have invaded illegally so they can steal their oil.
I am not American, personally I don't care, I have my own problems.
If I were American, I would be more concerned about what either is doing *right now* to fix the fucking problem. How do people who are ALREADY on watch lists and have been reported multiple times for erratic behaviour be allowed to walk into a gunshop and purchase (more) guns?
Anyway, if the populace is unarmed or not it's not going to stop the nutters from killing people, take the recent home made bomb blasts in Austin (I think) using household chemicals and a recipe he probably got from Wikipedia.
You can take away the guns - but you are not fixing the nut jobs.
Taking civilians weapons away because of these attacks is an excuse to stop you overthrowing your own oppressors, but by the time you wipe the shit out of your eyes and ears it will be too late.
I don't get it? Is calling me a commie about the worst insult you can manage? I suppose if I was a brainwashed American I might be mortally offended, but all I am really getting offended about is your lack of capitalisation. I also find it highly amusing that in your so called democracy with it's vaunted freedom of speech as soon as I say anything you don't like your response is something akin to a five year old's "you're a doodoo head". Where is the reasoned discussion? The counter argument supported by fact and eloquently worded. I think your "free world" education is somewhat lacking.
So I will try to bring this post down to a level you can understand and appreciate (although I fear it may require a frontal lobotomy and about a year's worth of sniffing glue, but here goes).
Unless we reach a tipping point. in which case it doesn't matter what we do, we will all be fucked. Fuck off, we have enough assholes here, we don't need more Americans.
Because she is hot and puts out? Not sure why otherwise.

You are only supposed to get your eyes tested every two years, and if required get the lenses changed.
You answered in a way which ignores the drastic effect humans are having on the planet
Sigh, the planet will survive and continue on, the human dandruff that runs around on the surface probably won't - but the planet will be just fine.

Yeah, and I believe them too!
