Iron's makers claim to block the Chrome privacy issues without sacrificing speed. I've been using it since a windows upgrade killed Firefox on all my machines.
Iron seems to work fine, but I'm not privacy savvy enough to claim it solves the issues raised here.
Hillary Clinton has done more for New York in the few years she's had than most New York senators do in a lifetime.
As a lifelong New Yorker and registered Democrat, I have to say that's the silliest thing I have ever read. Schumer and Moynihan - real f'ing New Yorkers I might add - did way WAY more for the Empire State than the carpetbagging little harridan could ever aspire to. Even her most ardent supporters here acknowledge her blindingly obvious use of our junior senator's office as a mere stepping stone.
I despise that first class passengers get to deboard before everyone else.
That actually depends on the specific aircraft and where you land. Often the jetway is attached behind first class, at the front of economy, so the
folks in row one get off about the same time as those in row 16.
As for buying time, I can think of few things more valuable and worth paying for.
Is good scientific journalism possible? Of course.
Is there a *market* for good scientific journalism? I don't think so, based on a few decades of observing the journalism
market and the public's interest in the topic.
This will be extremely useful in proving political corruption. Examining all calls between K Street, Capitol Hill, and the White House should provide enough information to put quite a number of politicians in jail.
Nope. They'll all be covered by "attorney - client" protection.
You'd think, with all the smart people working for newspapers...
I spent a chunk of my life working in the newspaper industry, and it is by far the field with the greatest divergence between IQ and self-image I've ever seen.
I got my 2 kids their own computers when they each turned four; old enough to sit still and operate a mouse.
Careful selection of programs and websites means they are entertained while learning, and a side benefit is that "television" is not a part of their worlds.
I *am* getting my panix.com mail by going to mail.panix.NET, and using their web-based mail client.
By way of background, I've been a Panix user for more than a decade. They are classy, intelligent people, which sets them apart from most folks in their line of work.
Wall Street has been recording all phone calls to trading desks for years.
With data storage costs falling, and idiots being stampeded into surrendering privacy because of "terror", it's a no-brainer that this practice will spread.
Look for clever "hacks" to undermine this to crop up in the years ahead.
If you do not have children, it is literally impossible to grasp how unsettling it is to
see prOn images unexpectedly flashed before their eyes.
I am a VERY liberal middle-aged guy who abhors censorship when it comes to folks choosing what they wish to see or read.
But when it comes to young children, who have no mental toolkit for evaluating HOt RuSSian BABEz or Ho's N Horses, the dangers of misunderstanding, and the disturbing notions that can take root in their, literally, virgin consciousness, are too awful to contemplate, let alone sanction.
I have no magic bullet solution. But I do know that toleration of this is unacceptable.
The two "money center" bank sites I use ONLY work with IE already.
Moz, Phoenix/Firebird, Opera? Fuggedaboutit.
One bright spot: If Europe and other foreign nations continue to break toward open source, the big banks will have no choice but to allow non-IE interfaces.
They're common in NYC already

Will the White House hold a press conference if Obama switches to Firefox from IE?
My pre-teen kids LOVE Galaxy Zoo...they feel they're really helping push out the boundaries of knowledge, and I get lots of teachable moments.

I wish it weren't so.
It will come up every year, and every year Redmond will have to shower cash on just enough local grifters to keep open docs on the back burner.
The AG here is new and a voracious publicity hound. That's why he's been so busy.
...and do what you want with everyone else.
If they'd elected that former Clinton Administration official this wouldn't have happened. Oh, wait....
Nope. They'll all be covered by "attorney - client" protection.
That is true.
Just for the record, the "representative" pushing this is a Democrat.
One classic politician rationale for extending the tax base is "consistency".
How about a nice level taxation on software (and much else) of, say, ZERO.
That's consistent.

I'm a Congressman. Mind tricks don't work on me. Only money.
Bloomberg data/news/analytics is the Street's core app, and it ONLY runs on Wintel or Solaris.
I've even tried running it on a Mac via Virtual PC. No dice.
Tech support for non-MSFT platforms is literally non-existent in finance. Vendors act like you have herpes if you even MENTION non-MSFT platforms.
I just spent months wrestling with this, and I had to submit to assimilation.

Every drop of water in that picture is salty. It's all Atlantic Ocean water. The Hudson is tidal as
far north as Troy. I am a lifelong NYer, BTW.

I assume this "news" is related to the recent burst of press surrounding Opera 7, so I should be happy this software is getting recognition.
