    What can I buy with bitcoins? Food, housing, software anything? For the articles it looks like you can trade US dollars for bitcoins and bitcoins for us dollars. And that the $7.70 you put in two days ago is worth $7.10 today.

    Microsoft now gives RSUs since as you point out the stock gain is not great anymore. They made the change in 2003. RSUs are basically outright grants of stock that are available for you to sell after some vesting period.

    It will be interesting to see if. Verizon opens up the possibility of getting aps for the android phones without going through Verizon. If they do then perhaps Apple will have to change their ways. If Verizon continues to lock down aps then there is very little pressure for Apple to make things easier.

    There is a lot of energy that goes into making a new computer. You need to factor that in before you can decide if you are really saving energy.

    Optical mice do not have anything like a camera. They have a light sensor, not an array of light sensors that cameras have.

    It is also lax security on the banks side. The bank is not properly verifying that the transactions really come from the businesses. It is much like identity theft. The person didn't steal my identity they got around the bank or credit card companies poor security to trick the bank. They took nothing from me they tricked the bank into giving them my money.

    No the pro install nightly backup tools on the laptops. At least they do on mine.The backup software then uses heuristic algorithms to start the backups when the laptop is being used for meeting presentations in front of many people.

    1 terra byte drives cost around $100. That is 10 cents a gig at retail. So they cost less than 10 cents a gig to manufacture.

    Are you saying that the thin sheet metal is providing the strength of the car? I was always under the impression that the frame was providing that rigidity of the car.

    DC power has many advantages over AC. Lower peak voltages for the same power delivered. No reactive losses. You don't need to synchronize generators feeding the system.

    AC power has one HUGE advantage and maybe other smaller ones. You can cheaply and easily step the voltage up and down. Stepping A DC voltage up and down is much more complex. DC to DC converters are getting cheaper and better to the point that people are proposing and building high voltage DC power distribution systems.

    You obviously never took Chem 1A with Professor Pines. The man blew something up or set something on fire during every lecture (on purpose). If I hadn't already known I wanted to be a structural engineer, he'd have convinced me to major in chemistry. A brilliant man. Makes me sad when I hear about everyone out there who struggles with freshman chem because it doesn't engage them correctly.
    Is he still teaching that course? I took that course 20 years ago.

    You do not have to install the software to buy one track at a time. You do to get the album discount though.

    Amazon in the US has it for $23 with a claim that the list price is $35. Amazon in Canada has it for $22 Canadian. HMV seems to be a total ripoff. They are lowering there prices because everybody has caught on that they are really high.

    Also, I don't see any organization choosing a pricier, harder-to-repair/upgrade, easier-to-steal/lose/break solution to put on employees' desks. Sure, your average home user will move towards laptops because they want to carry it into the living room/kitchen/yard or on vacation, and don't play high-end games on it. I don't see organizations changing to laptops any more than they already are doing.
    Actually I see many organizations doing exactly that. Where I work there are not a lot of new desktops for offices we are getting laptops with docking stations. Labs and such get desktops.

    TCP does not have anything at all to do with the Shannon Limit. The Shannon limit lets you know how fast it is possible to send the bits with a given error rate over a finite bandwidth channel in the presence of noise. It does not have anything to say about higher level protocols.

    What are you doing on Etrade that requires IE? I have used etrade for years with firefox. I have not had problems.
