If you think you can shout down your opponents with baseless ad hominem attacks you're probably browsing/b/, not a developer oriented mailing list. In fact, I'd go as far as claiming that internet communication is _BENEFICIAL_ in that it is impersonal. as that allows people to say what they really think about an issue instead of tip-toeing around the issue. And changing your mind is easier when you're not faced with the potentially very embarrassing situation of having people gloat at you face-to-face.
As long as the software/library is written completely by yourself, you're free to pick any license -- or dual-license it.
Also, when accepting any patches require them to be under Public Domain. This leaves you free to change licensing terms in the future and if you're the one who wrote a majority of the code then most people don't care.
They want to pay you to get a closed source license to comply with their contract? Good, means free money for you and perhaps a bit of contract work fixing bugs and feature requests in the future. Go for it.
If you watched the google talk he gave, you'd know the difference between mountain and sea level launch is just 0.5 km/s. And the heavier the projectile is the less air resistance matters.
Until you have proof that there _ISN'T_ any extraterrestrial life, it is _YOU_ who are wishfully thinking.
It's a simple matter of taking what we know about the earths history and biology, then applying probability to what we know about the universe. Unless you're one of those who think modern astronomy is bunk and what we're seeing is just an illusion made by a sphere with stars painted on it... uhm...
Anyway, even when applying the most conservative of estimates we're still going to have a pretty slim chance of being the only life to be found.
You think I'm an idiot? Of course I got my stuff backed up and version controlled.
Yet how am I going to do any work without a computer... It's not like I can afford to buy a replacement nor can I afford to delay any of my stuff with even a couple of weeks.
So I'm going to the US for a IT related conference by invitation. Obviously having your laptop with you is 'mandatory', yet can I really afford the risk of losing an expensive computer that pretty much is the center piece of my thesis studies and various programming related activities?
More importantly, how does the US expect to keep its technological lead when visitors have these kinds of worries just entering the country?
When I read it I couldn't get the image out of my head of over sized penises cross dressing and doing lap dances in order to fool borderline agents in a ploy to sneak weapon-grade lawyers into the country.
Next time, I'll just read more carefully instead of making a post about it.
The 501 capsule hotel in Shinjuku is actually one of the better places to go Yakuza-tattoo spotting. Just enter the bath/sauna in the early hours of the morning and you'll be likely to see a couple.
Well, since you didn't even bother checking my/. nick against in-game characters I guess you didn't really care what 'side' I'm on.
And yes, you should just have stayed docked and figured out alternatives. Losing that kind of assets on a reckless move is never worth it. Especially when you know it has a very high risk of failing.
It's well known and not even contested that the forces bridging in to the system black-screened and never got to fight.
However, they got what they deserved. The node in question was not reinforced due to the unexpected nature of the fight (as in; the notification system was not used to put the system on a dedicated server). And jumping into large fights was well know to be bugged since the expansion and the Fleet Commander was made aware by an alliance member that the specific way in which they were going to enter the fight would trigger the bug.
They ignored all those warnings and decided to go ahead. Sources claim the intent was to crash the node and get a more even fight once it got up, multiple accounts even got banned for spamming local chat. Funny thing is the bug seems to be in the simultaneous transfer of 100+ ships into an overloaded system, and doesn't affect people warping around within a system once they are there. This being the worst possible situation for the attempted rescue of the system.
Actually, it's common knowledge amongst parents in Norway that kindergarten is the best place to build up your kids' immune system. Your kid getting sick from eating dirt or someone's snot is the reason you send your kids there.
Unobtainium? That stuff doesn't exist, so stop making such stupid jokes.
Though I'm surprised this news took so long to come out... Everyone knew about Neodymium taking over for Dysprosium ever since Larkonis fucked up and got temp-banned for exploiting insider-knowledge.
You got the Privacy Act of 1974 which limits only _GOVERNMENT_ use of personal information. In 2006 several laws were attempted passed, but got rejected cause they would increase the cost of startup companies doing business.
WTF is that? Is not the cost to society worth mentioning? The cost to the 700k people every year in the US that has their identity stolen not a part of the equation... When the control of corporate America is so lax that CC companies don't even bother to check if the SSN matches the name on the application?
This is something that has had me puzzled for quite a while now. Why does the US have this fetish with keeping the government out of their private lives, yet allow corporations free reign to use, misuse, misplace and basically be asses with the same information?
In e.g. Norway all sectors are under the same law, this including corporate, governmental and academic uses. Obviously certain organizations are allowed to store more information than others.
I'm having difficulty figuring out if you're being serious or not... That just doesn't make any sense.
If a guy of mainly scandinavian ancestry gets a kid with a japanese ancestry, they're not going to pop out a kid who looks like a somalian guy. Political correctness be damned.
Your problem is you're looking for a 'specific gene' that defines ethnicity... It's not. We're dealing with a large set of genes here, where certain collections of patterns predominate in various populations. And these collectively lead to what we see as 'racial traits'.
And most countries, particularly much of the European ones, have the advantage of having higher population density and smaller area. Even in countries like Albania (which I doubt has much for any connectivity) getting the whole country covered with modern data cellular would be much easier.
Worth mentioning is that the countries in Europe furthest ahead in cellular technology, the Scandinavian countries, have very low population density even when compared to the US. And still they have coverage in pretty much all of the country. (Including many remote mountainous regions)
You get hung over because you drank poison. The perfect hangover cure is morphine. Thread over.
Try this, and then tell me morphine is the only cure for a hangover. Seriously, drinking that stuff before you start drinking leaves you without any hangover at all the next day.
I'm making fun of Americans who think they can use racial discrimination against anyone coming to their country, yet expect people to treat them well when they travel abroad.
So let's 'strip search every american' so they get an intimate knowledge of what they're proposing.
I also think all American's (from the US) should be strip searched and left to wander around the Scandinavian winter cold a few hours just to make sure they didn't bring any Big Macs with them.
Art is sushi eaten off the naked body of a young and pretty girl.
Art is getting salarymen to pay to eat sushi off the naked body of a beautiful youth, then having a young athletic guy enter the stage.
True story.
WTF are you doing on /.? Aol.com is ==> way.
This place is for people who know more about technology than just how to double-click an icon.
Bollocks.

Stupid arguments does not make your opinion equally valid.

That's nothing.

You seem to have RL and virtual life mixed up. Try going outside your house, but be careful.. The bright fire in the sky can burn unprotected skin.

What the hell is this? You think you won't get any antibiotics in Norway when you actually need it?
That's just close-minded idiocy.

Dodged the Flaming Pants bullet? Please provide some evidence that the 'device' could actually be detonated, rather than just burn.

Fair is fair, no?
