Get the Asus Zenbook. Better specs than a Macbook Air, at the same price and with a bit better build quality, to boot. Otherwise, ThinkPad ultrabook. Aluminum's the worst material to use in a laptop, anyway.
I guess they're kind of in an Apple-type situation: their marketshare isn't fantastic, but they dominate the mindshare in that field. I had always just assumed Xbox was the majority. You know what they say about assuming, though.
Bullshit. Glasses with HUDs are the first step to contact-lens screens, then embedded retina displays (TM). They're definitely part of the future. They're pretty primitive forms of human augmentation, but I'm sure the consumer would love being able to do what his smartphone does without taking it out of his pocket (Project Glass) or have a full Virtual-Reality display in a pair of spectacles. People started using soft-keyboards, though they were lauded as stupid, and told it would never catch on. However, the majority of smartphones today use software keyboards, because the consumer decided it was willing to put up with typing on glass to have a keyboard that literally disappeared with screen real estate in its place. I think people will do the same with wearable computing like Project Glass and the Xbox Glasses.
By the by, Google showed that Project Glass doesn't even have to be accompanied by any form of glasses.
Read the 2015 entry-- the wifi model is in 2014, and the 4G model in 2015. I can only assume they think it's going to take a lot of manpower to make AR glasses that have good battery life and cellular connectivity, so they're concentrating on wifi-only at first.
By the way, the powerpoint says nothing about it being exclusively connected to the Xbox "720". It could still be connected to mobile devices; we just don't know yet.
It seems like the full-vision glasses idea might not work, though. They've generally been bulkier than the sliver of projection glass that shows up in Project Glass. Plus, Google has an advantage: their services are pretty tight-knit, especially after the G+ merge they did. It will be interesting to see what consumers choose: the lighter, more stylish option with All Things Google, or the full-vision AR-VR glasses, with connectivity to their console.
Actually, these documents are years old-- before Project Glass was ever revealed. You should RTFPowerpoint before thinking this is some kind of knee-jerk reaction to Google.
The parent was acting as if he was confused and thought that Windows RT was a different OS with a different interface, hence the "newfangled interface specifically for tablets" line. I was bringing to his attention that it's the same interface on different architectures.
Why is everyone mad about sexy women (and, strangely, not upset about sexy men in media), these days? It's as if all of these "third-wave feminists", who give feminists a bad name, decided that anybody being sexy is an acknowledgement that there is kind of standard of attractiveness for the majority of the population. Oh wait, there is, and there's nothing wrong with that. Leveraging sex appeal to sell products isn't sexist, it's just a little silly. You're overreacting, most of you.
The Penis joke was silly, but nothing to get your drawstrings in a bunch over.
Moderated troll, just because someone doesn't like ripoff prices and aluminum, the worst metal to use in a laptop casing besides tin? I'll stick with my magnesium alloy.
Sentient machine-based lifeforms don't have to be the only machines, just a few of them. You can have advanced AI machinery, or machinery with no AI at all that doesn't need the same protection that sentient forms do.

We can do our best to create a neural network or other type of network that accomplishes the same level of consciousness but in a different way.
The OS won't play DVDs in Media Center-- because it's not included. MS said that they were confident that the PC DVD-playing software market was sufficiently full. Windows 8 will still play DVDs with third-party-software. There's no reason to have such an inflammatory article.
... they need to stop thinking in a round-trip paradigm. We would be able to get a lot more accomplished, a lot quicker, if we drew upon the pool of astronauts and possible-astronauts who are willing to do a long-term mission in the name of science. Pour as much money as they can into psychological screenings and legal documents making sure that they are absolutely not liable, and send them off. The real reason we've stayed on Earth and its orbiting bodies is that we've concentrated too much on packing enough fuel with them for a round-trip, and not enough on finding ways to allow Humans to live indefinitely in enclosed Martian settlements. The current model of "go to star, get data, come home, instant hero" is just not feasible for meaningful space travel beyond what we have today.
This article should be titled "Why is the Middle East a Good Place for Female Tech Entrepreneurs?", instead of the current title. The current one suggests that there would be an immediate answer.

Huh, I didn't know that.

Yeah, it's definitely mockups for where they want to go, not a hard lineup of their projects.
Bullshit.

It's not necessarily tethered to a console, just wifi-only in 2014. As they said, they think they'll have the tech to do it 4G/Wifi in 2015.

It basically is Windows 8; it's just named so that they can differentiate between the two builds.
Oh the horror. You need to pay 7 dollars to have one more TV. I understand this must be the proverbial straw.
And one more TV, and one more TV, and one more TV. Rounds out to about 28 USD, in my caculatron.
To make money, like everyone else who develops (for a living).

At least we still have Crazy Ira and The Douche, right?
Right?
Is that not the point of Class-Action Lawsuits, or at least their broadcast point? To provide restitution to the consumer.
Just use the recovery partition or whatever Windows calls it, to restore your comp to factory settings.

That's a bad idea. Just buy a Thinkpad, way better build quality than that cheap aluminum crap.

Probably because it was assumed that a Windows RT tablet would be full-Windows, for whatever reason. It might cause some confusion.

I mean to say, "having females specifically", I hate left-behind editing errors.
