Why does a public high school even need your SSN? I can understand them needing the staff SSNs for payroll, but why do they need a kid's social security number?
Does anyone know? It's not like the students are paying any taxes towards social security through the high school
But I thought the SEH isn't a part of winelib because of this. It's not a question of the code already existing, it hasn't been written yet and can't be written due to this patent.
meh..it's just an overloaded server that was not set up with custom error pages. just about any webserver that gets linked on slashdot is bound to die, whether it's iis, apache, or
interesting that there are no pictures of the hood of the car which would probably be where most of the holes should be if they were firing to disable the engine...
My older brother had a problem with some government form he was signing. I can't remember if it was his social security card or some form relating to joining the army, but regardless, it wanted his signature as "first name" "middle name" "last name". They wouldn't accept it signed differently, but then they complained when the signature didn't match his other signatures.
crazy. I should be able to sign my name with a big X if I want to...none of this mandatory signature guideline b/s
It's a pain in the ass, but not very hard to write a program that records the DirectSound output.
Hell, I wrote one that lets you queue up a list of files and then the program will tell winamp to play each file and it will record the DirectSound output. It basically does what the no longer working outputstacker plugins did.
Of course the quality isn't going to be as good as some of the other services, but if you want a permanent copy of your "Napster music" instead of paying Napster $10-$15 each month for the privilege, you don't really have a choice.
If it only makes sense that the key can only be used once, why does blizzard go out of there way to explicitely state in the EULA that the physical media can be resold?
I don't know about that. If the UK did pass a law about that the EU would probably be on their case about violating Article 11 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights that all members of the EU have to agree to.
Article 11 Freedom of expression and information
1. Everyone has the right to freedom of expression. This right shall include freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers.
2. The freedom and pluralism of the media shall be respected.
Actually the Swiss probably have one of the highest guns to people ratio in Europe. They have a huge militia system and during the Cold War they had one of the largest land based armies in Europe. I think they still have a system where all men are conscripted and remain part of the army reserves until middle age.
When you die, the physical property of those letters is part of your estate that, in this case, the parents would have free access to...so it's not really the same
Do you have any idea how long it takes for software to get approved by them? Hell..the Navy isn't even upgrading to Windows 2000 until either 2006 or 2007. Most of their old subs run Windows NT and I'm sure that the other departments of the military still have legacy systems running Windows NT. I've even heard microsoft reps say that they are ending support for everyone except for the military.
then why bother posting links to any of the banks since none of them have any info
Why is there no link to Bank Of America in the summary?
Sony using Linux!?, that's completely unheard of.

either way it was never included so the grandparent post about borland and kylix is moot

it's nice that in london, it shows the tube stations right on the map.
It doesn't do this for the metro, in DC for instance. That would definitely be a useful feature to have when planning trips and the like
Hopefully there isn't a BOFH thrown in the mix. It could get ugly

For the even lazier, you can do it in 1/7th of the characters than the explanation.

Wasn't the dreamcast launched a full year before the ps2 (september 1999 vs. october 2000) and didn't they get crushed?
Being first to market isn't always good
You guys are quicker than I thought ;-) I wasn't sure if anyone would figure that out
That whole web site is hilarious. Apparently not too many people realize it's a joke..as seen here
Not quite.
