The media could give a shit less if the libertarian party got 2% or 5% or 10%. Getting in the debates will get you nothing other than a little bit of press time and ripped apart by the idiot talking heads. Getting a percentage of the presidential election gets you NOTHING. No change, no one cares
Put 5 libertarians in House and the Senate, and then you'll raise some eyebrows. Get a few more in two years later, maybe a governor or two. Then you make a difference.
Otherwise, it is a pipe dream, and were stuck with the one party system with two names owned by one corporation or the other.
This year is not the year to vote libertarian. I saw it said no better the other night on Real Time with Bill Mahr. Voting anything other than the current two parties on the presidential election means absolutely nothing, because if you loose, you've wasted your vote.
However, voting libertarian for a Senate or House seat, or even more local government building up the third party from the ground up is the only way to go in the United States political system.
So if you want to vote libertarian, do so to fill seats in the house/senate not the presidential race. That'll never fix anything but let Bush back in office because the people more likely to vote libertarian would vote against Bush (not necessarily FOR his opponent either, but just to get him out of office)
No Doubt! It's to the point you can't buy a phone without a camera almost. We've got hardware development areas that are camera restricted and now you have to leave your phone in your desk before you can go into the lab!
What's the point in having a mobile phone then? not much.
How is that informative? Nothing but speculation as far as I can see. I've been looking for disk cabinets for month with little luck via google. Why go with a server when you could direct attach? That doesn't solve the problem at all, because 100MB or wireless to 1TB of disk isn't fun at all, I've tried it.
Direct Attach via Firewire, USB 2.0, Fibre, or SCSI is much less frustrating.
The biggest problem is still not addressed, backing it up. Because no matter what you do, you'll have a drive failure. I'm lucky and got an old DLT drive to back up my 365 GB of pictures & (legally) music collection. I say lucky because in the last month I've lost *3* 120GB HDDs. FYI the Adaptec 2400A RAID card is the biggest piece of shit on the planet. Stupid thing doesn't have any type of alarm to tell you when the drive fails, and it takes out the next drive in the chain loosing all your data.
Let's see, Hardback release costs $17.95. eBook costs $17.95.
Paper back releases costs $7.50 - $8.99, eBook costs $7.50 to $8.99
For my money, i'd like something I can hold thanks. Plus you can't read an eBook until the freaking plane takes off and is in the air or 20 - 30 min before landing.
Funny, my wife who had a hard time with Windows and getting outlook to run took 30 seconds to figure out her iMac when I got it in 2002.
She had the iPod mini for 5 minutes and was completely enthralled. She'd burned half my spool of 100 CDs once she figured out the iTunes Music Store to the tune of about $130 worth of songs within four hours...
This is coming from someone who had trouble turning on her Windows PC and only used it for virus laden email.
So maybe you ought to rethink that statement? Maybe it should be 'people set in their ways don't find it intuitive' but defintitely not the people new to computers, you know, about 80% of the population of the planet.
For a few years we stuck an old am/fm radio with a headphone jack plug into our phone system. It'd play the radio on the hold music.
Someone reported us / they figured out we'd been doing it and sued the employer. They 'offered' to settle if they were contracted to write up a commercial type thing. That was part of the legal 'settlement'. Complete gang rape RIAA style in the early 90s.
I'm addicted to the iTunes Music Store, and since I have an iPod I'm not really going to switch to OD2. Though I really respect Peter Gabriel's work and music, he needs to get OD2 and iTunes together I'd think since they only support Windows from what I can tell, and that pretty much locks me out on my desktop or server OS platform of choice.
March 2001 Classic Dumb Terminal "It's ridiculous claiming that video games influence children. For instance, if Pac-man affected kids born in the 80s, we should by how have a bunch of teenagers who run around in darkened rooms and eat pills while listening to monotonous electronic music."
While RTFA I am wondering how 200 Students could understand what it's like to be a IT Director, Linux admin, DB admin, etc. I can see how they can be an MCP considering the cert mills are out there but doesn't everything else actually need some experience, especially the IT director? Last time I checked when you're in school you're not necessarily stamped with 'you will be this' when you walk out the door, you have to earn it.
Maybe I just mis-interpreted it, but it looked like the poll was of students, not people that actually work in those environments.
I've managed 8 hours out of my gen 2 iPod a few times when flying from Raleigh, NC to San Francisco and back again. It usually dies half way through the San Fran flight on the way back to Dallas.
You must be new to the computer industry. Someone releases a new product hoping you'll buy it, not continually updating an old product in the hopes you'll never need to spend money with them again.
I speant 20 min troubleshooting my internet connection thinking something was wrong with it to be getting 503 errors allt he time. It didn't help that other sights I usualy check out were slow, must have been all the people looking for something else to do.
No, you didn't. My biggest concern with the flick was not the butchering of the I, Robot novel (how could you, it was like 8 or so stories) but that it would 'Smart Ass Will Smith vs....' like all his other movies seem to be.
Was it not smart ass will smith against the robots? Did he not play will smith but an actual character this time? That's what I'm most interested in. It sounds like he was an actor this time
That just seems a bit tinfoil hat like to me. I think some days we give too much credits to the boys in Washington. Besides, it's not in their track record to do it that way. I believe their best bet to play the game the old way would be to buy Oracle or IBM in an effort to stop them from using Linux
Funny, the synopsis that I read mentioned that it was more of a yeild rate than a cooling issue. While there was a challenge, it's not the reason for delay.
I've got two kids, but they're 2.5 and 10 months so I can't compare.
Speaking as a kid who never got a gun bought for him, it builds irresponsibility when peer pressure and your 'own' money the first opportunity you get to by a non-bullet projectile firing gun you do so, don't tell your parents, and then shoot your best friend in the face embedding a BB in his chin and breaking a tooth out of face - permanently.
If you are involved with your children, and introdcue them to a BB gun or whatever when we are in an environment that promotes 'playing' with weapons for any reason the parent needs to be involved and aware. Taking the stance of 'you can't have one' just makes the child go around the parent and learn the hard way vs. learning the right way.
I'm sorry, I think you have #1 confused with SCO...

I'm a little behind on my batman lore. What's with the monster truck batmobile in the pictures section?

Not to mention abysmal Linux support.

Yes...it's that green stuff that goes on football fields. What does that have to do with PayPal?

My Treo 300 would last a work day (6 - 9 hrs) with heavy phone use. DOn't know about the 600. But eating the battery in an hour is a bit of a stretch.

Ah, bummer, here I thought I was being original. I guess that is what I get for staying at home all the time with the family.
Isn't that a rave?
Mine's a 2G 20 gigger. I've read some complaints that the 3Gs actually had shorter life than the 2Gs, not sure what caused it.
For a while battery life sucked on the iPod I had, but then they updated something to do with the clock and it was fine after that.

I've made it to Raleigh to SFO, and Raleigh to Seattle on one charge, including the jog to the next gate.
I average about 8 hours on one battery charge.
I've managed 8 hours out of my gen 2 iPod a few times when flying from Raleigh, NC to San Francisco and back again. It usually dies half way through the San Fran flight on the way back to Dallas.
Hate it when I forget my power adapter.
Sometimes statements like these crack me up. Did she suddenly have a need for storing 5 more gig of music? ;)
