I don't have problems with creating an online presence that gets on the first page, but kicking out everybody else from it is definitely not fair play.
They know that if they manage to create a good rocket, there will be a huge return on their investment. There's lots of money in LEO, especially when competition is limited.
Exactly, if they want to make robots that people feel comfortable about, they should make ones that are actually useful. I haven't heard about anybody freaking out because of a roomba or a robot lawnmower.
I think it was just simple bargaining, Facebook started with an unrealistically high price so that they don't leave any cash on the table. The end price is still higher than what those shares actually worth so I would say that the tactic was succesful.
Corporations follow the laws of capitalism, not the laws of ethics. They will never pay more than they are legally required. If you don't like it, change the laws.
Children understand death sooner than they understand sex. There's also different levels of violence and nudity, but only the dumbest hippy would call Nintendo violent.
On one hand, we have to be even more careful not to contaminate Mars. On the other hand, finding (or creating) bacteria that can survive there could be the first step of terraforming the planet.
As long as GMO are explicitly marked as such, the market will handle it fine. If it turns out to be harmful, people will not buy it. I still wish there were more excessive tests done with the effects of GMO food on humans (in fact, I think the clinical trials of GMO should be at least as strict as for pharmaceutical products), but realistically spreading in a natural habitat is a bigger threat so I'm glad that's the one that got priority, because that's the one the free market couldn't handle.

I'm pretty sure America would consider going in if China weren't actively protecting them.
Some already do. Although this is more of a hardware hack.
Or allow bad guys to know who to target if they want to steal some guns.
