    I didn't say it was good, but a bad standard is still better than no standards at all. Interoperability is a result in itself.

    They know that if they manage to create a good rocket, there will be a huge return on their investment. There's lots of money in LEO, especially when competition is limited.

    The internet shouldn't be regulated by the government because it shouldn't be regulated at all. There's no point in overcomplicating that argument.

    Exactly, if they want to make robots that people feel comfortable about, they should make ones that are actually useful. I haven't heard about anybody freaking out because of a roomba or a robot lawnmower.

    I think it was just simple bargaining, Facebook started with an unrealistically high price so that they don't leave any cash on the table. The end price is still higher than what those shares actually worth so I would say that the tactic was succesful.

    Corporations follow the laws of capitalism, not the laws of ethics. They will never pay more than they are legally required. If you don't like it, change the laws.

    On one hand, we have to be even more careful not to contaminate Mars. On the other hand, finding (or creating) bacteria that can survive there could be the first step of terraforming the planet.

    As long as GMO are explicitly marked as such, the market will handle it fine. If it turns out to be harmful, people will not buy it. I still wish there were more excessive tests done with the effects of GMO food on humans (in fact, I think the clinical trials of GMO should be at least as strict as for pharmaceutical products), but realistically spreading in a natural habitat is a bigger threat so I'm glad that's the one that got priority, because that's the one the free market couldn't handle.
