It would be really easy for the real G hackers to bootfuck the FBI, IRS by writing viruses that target specific systems. Hell, I could do it if I wasn't so lazy.

Everyone knows the mega-capitalists of the late 1800s and early 1900s (J.P. Morgan, Rockefellers, That German banker family) gave Lenin and Trotsky $10 million in gold to seize power in Russia. Inf fact, the Rockefellers oil fields (Standard Oil) in Russia were never nationalized!
Now having control of the U.S. and a fake Superpower, they then implemented tax-free foundations, to protect their massive wealth, and the income tax, to prevent any others from obtaining massive amounts of wealth.
So they proceed to milk and rape us for a century or so. Little things like us giving millions in "non-lethal aid" (fucking truck tires!) to the U.S.S.R. DURING the Vietnam war! These supplies were then brought into northern Vietnam and used against our own troops. It is plainly obvious to anyone with a brain that we have propped Russia up for the past 40 years, all the while claiming to fear them. They's still starve without us.
The fucking Russians still sweep the streets with brooms made of sticks. Can't operate complex machinery like Pasteurization machines. Yet, they developed atomic weapons in parallel with us? Only by our providing the blueprints and technologies.
Bilderburger Group? Wake up, you dumb fucking Slashdotters. Some of you have mad skills, and you're chowned like the rest of us. 39% tax bracket? 50% tax on corporations? Uttery fucking owned by the state. Ayn Rand was right, most of you are mindless drones.

American tobacco contains ionizing radiation. Mandated by law! The fertilizers are radioactive by-products. Look it up, polonium-190? Even imported tobacco is from the U.S. (Drum, Samson). Lead in cigarettes? Why?

Keep feeding the parasitical Freemason, Rockefeller world government, run by the moron son of a megaspook. I'll keep smoking dope, coding, and playing music. You can keep the funny money.

Let them move to Open Source. Then wipe them the fuck out.

  10. Overkill for current consoles/television on Sony's Monster Graphics Chip · · Score: 1

Throwing mad polygons is nice, but much of the processing in raytracing is done with the CPU, not the graphics chip. Yeah, real-time raytracing would be nice. I've seen it done on a stock Amiga 500, to some degree. But there's not a lot more we can do with television resolution beyond that. Physics and detailed simulations will become important soon, until we all have HDTVs.

752 x 480 is about it, or is it? Focus has a new chip set for scaling down 1024 x 768 PC output to TV resolution while keeping detail and clarity. (Press Release). From what I can see, Sony is planning on using this chipset. Combine the three, and you have the makings of a nice rumor: Playstation 3 running BeOS, with web connectivity. Then there is the Nintendo/Be rumour camp...

The basic idea is that if BeOS is ported to such consoles, they instantly become programmable in OO C++/OpenGL. No learning curve for developers, and no hurdles to porting apps.

Be, Inc. just announced CJK character set in only 1 meg of flash ram via Bitstream. This of course includes right to left functionality, if I'm not mistaken. Hebrew is just a character set away (and a lot smaller in file size). This is the sort of thing that will be crucial in the IA market, so you Linux boys had better get on it. You don't have a good old Poppa JLG to buy you the pricey solutions...

Linux needs solutions that avoid duplication of effort, I think.

Actually, if you think about it, it would make a LOT of sense for the PS2's net capabilites to come from BeIA, just like the Evilla. One support system instead of two, etc. I really don't see Sony creating two separate infrastructures that do the same thing. In other words, the BeOS/PS2 announcement is probably a few months away, at most.

  13. Re:Uh, actually on Is Mac OS X Threatening Linux? · · Score: 1

By shakey, I think he meant 'crappy', not 'unstable'. The installations I've toyed with were very unpleasant from an end-user perspective. The response time could be measured in seconds. StarOffice should get an icon or a menu entry somewhere, after installation. Devices are incredibly difficult to set up. To me, Linux is the proverbial dog riding the bicycle, interesting because it exists, not that it's particularly good (ON THE DESKTOP). BeOS, on the other hand, is rather like the Heart of Gold, still idling in the garage.

There are a number of folxen at Be, Inc. that support the Free Software movement. Indeed, OpenTracker and another site provide the source for the main portions of BeOS, the Tracker and Deskbar.
While improvements have made it back to the source tree at Be, it has amounted to at most a few weeks of work. It's not like BeOS is bug-ridden. It's probably been rewritten 6 times by now. The coming BeOS upgrade is not hyped, not even real in the minds of some people, but it will be a complete desktop solution, with greatly improved connectivity and stunning OpenGL performance.

On the other hand, the true promise of BeOS is becoming apparent in the form of apps like Inferno (image editor that allows for any of the painting tools to be replaced), PersonalStudio from Adamation (DV Editing for $49), and even a Japanese DV app that no one in the U.S. knows how to use, yet.

Be, Inc. is really starting to kick ass in new markets in all sorts of places. Rather than fostering animosity between Gnu/Linux/BSD etc users and the very Amiga-scene-like BeOS crowd, I'd like to see more multi-platform releases. Neverwinter Nights (?) is going to be the first multi-platform game, if it's delivered, making up somewhat for the disappointing yanking of Black and White out of our clutches.

Anyway, I'm going to pricewatch for an external modem. BeOS full-time, here I come.
