The object is to enjoy yourself, preferably with like-minded competitors who are in it for the fun of friendly competition.

Just to play a game? Just to play a game? I guess some people just don't get the Earth-shattering importance of gaming. I have a separate ROOM for my gaming, of course I'm going to have a separate box. Which OS it runs on I don't care. When I step into that room, of utmost importance to me are ping, frame-rate, amount of beer/cokes in mini-fridge, and among the least important is what OS I'm running.

Now it would be a problem if I sat down to a nice game of Tropico or Black & White or Tribes 2 and there was no game. This might be a problem with Linux but with [that other OS] if it's out, I can get it. Therein lies the biggest problem Loki faces. Namely they must wait until it comes out for [that other OS] and then port it. There is no persuasive arguement for me to give up the chance to play current games. As a ardent gamer, even 1 month is too long for me to wait. I'm not the typical consumer, of course, but I DO spend a few hundred US$ on games monthly. Loki not only needs to get games out concurrent with their release on other OSs, but they need to offer me (representing a fanatical demographic) something more. Name one commercial quality Linux game that does not have, or came out before, a Windows counterpart (seriously, name one, I'll try it). I want Loki to succeed. Hell, I want to covert my gaming rig to a Linux gaming rig. But until I am assured of all new releases and full hardware support, the Linux box is relegated to my living room for everyday use and the occasional game of Q3 to impress friends.

So, since they are dead it is necessary to put the blame on someone else? To get that gratification that comes with punishment? It is a tragic situation but widening the net to bring more people in only spreads the misery.

I'm not sure it's greedy to seek actual damages; It's chilling that you say that greed motivates them. Dylan and Eric didn't seem to value human life at all, you seem to think that a life has no monetary value.

I listed greed as one possible factor. I think life is priceless but I'm also a realist and I know that any amount of money can't bring anyone back. And what are "actual" damages then? What is the president set? If $1 million is awarded here for a death and $200 million there does one person's life actually have 200 times more value?

Wrongful death lawsuits help insure that the survivor's mortgage gets paid, kids can go to college, plans can be carried out.

Since you're being such a pragmatist here, if this is the case, which provider here would have provided their family with $5 billion? Or even the millions already awarded? Look, the victims here are entitled to do whatever they want. My complaint isn't with any of them, more the system that we all live in where the first offers after any tragedy or even accident are not for condolences and aid but rather for lawyers and accountants.
