I agree with the article. I've felt this way for about the last 3-4 years. When Team Fortress 2 came out, and it ended up being just a remake of TFC after so long in development, I finally had enough. Valve should have been *owned* by journalists for taking so long to produce what was basically a remake. But no, all of the reviews praised it and Valve. The same thing happened with the last two Mega Man games. They were the *exact* same thing as all the other core Mega Man games - no one really pointed this out as far as I could tell and both of them got good reviews. To be honest, people should be ashamed of themselves for failing to innovate, even if the end product is less than stellar. Hell, even Fiddler's Green had a good multiplayer game.
Wow, I remember reading something about a similar technique once. In an old text file written by some 80s hacker group. Or maybe it was that awful "Secrets of a Super Hacker" book. Either way, this HAS to be one of the oldest techniques known to anyone.
I for one welcome our new overlords and wish to extend a heart-felt greeting to Lord Xenu!
BTW, anyone who tries to prove me wrong that aliens haven't visited us is *CLEARLY* part of a government cover up. You may have fooled the world into thinking that Australia exists but you can't fool the world into thinking that aliens haven't visited us!
A sociologist's purpose is to analyze, explain, predict, interpret, etc. *social phenomenon.* I guess I could consider myself a sociologist, but even I know what a sociologist's role is in the world. Trying to solve technical problems such as the ones discussed is not what a sociologist should do. Professionally anyway.
Basically, a sociologist is better at explaining what *is* rather than what *should be* and should stick with that.
Don't know if anyone posted this, but I recall the gold box collection of Forgotten Realms games back in the day (it had Secret of the Silver Blade, Curse of the Azure Bonds, and one other I can't recall) that I had bought used at a computer show.
But Azure Bonds and the other had a paper decoder ring that had you a series of different runes on the top ring and their equivalent in English. Seemed pretty kewl and added to the atmosphere of the game (though it could have gotten tedious, but I wouldn't know as I was 10 at the time and those games were fricken difficult).
The best was Secret of the Silver Blade, where it would have you look up a word on X page, paragraph X, line X. Of course, it would always ask me to goto a page that wasn't in the book, so I never really got to play the game. But I doubt it would've been a different experience.
Yes, individuals in ANY growing economy will be better off in absolute terms. Compare, for instance, a Russian worker in Czarist Russia to Russia in the 1980s. But in relative terms, it does not work that way. As a ratio (or a percentage), the average capitalist will STILL make more money than the the average worker.
Staying with the general consensus that this show will be hacked up, I agree that it'll be hacked up. That's why I've always been against NGE being shown on cable TV.
I wonder if they'll get The End of Evangelion, thougn...

DL'ing it now via BT. I wonder what it looks like.
How is this different from, say, other sciences that claim to explain why people make irrational decisions?

All irony aside, of course.

Damn those games were hard.

The news article does not mention anything about the student being deported.
Isn't this list old? I remember seeing it a few months ago, maybe even a year ago.

I remember reading a while ago that Raven got a license to use the Doom3 engine for Quake4.
Only thing I have to say is: and so, the bar has been raised.
