yeah so that the competition can decide what markets are served? USPS is a great example. If we freed the postal mechanism from the government, plenty of people would be without service because it wouldnt be cost efficient. though I do agree that the government often times is highly wasteful, it need not be. You're complaining about the attributes of OUR government, not about what a government COULD be.

your friends turn you into gangbangers. DUH.

but maybe you don't like to hear that, so maybe its about how the streets feel dangerous, and television makes the streets feel dangerous. probably about how television, movies, and games make it "seem cool to be in a gang." It might have something to do with very little adult guidance. It might have to do with being poor, living in the ghetto, and having nothing and nothing to do. it might be that a gang provides you with the family you never had. it might be that you can't make decisions correctly and need help.

all of these reasons support "Garbage in Garbage Out" but also show that music is far from the only or most important factor. The parent's parent fails to realize that people might be attracted to the music precisely because they are illiterate or already have fantasies of rape, murder, or general mayhem. It's quite possible that the music represents and outlet, not an input

Sorry dood. LOTS of people CAN hear a REAL difference between typical consumer gear and high end audio.

Sure a lot of high end stuff (esp super high end) is hard to distinguish, but high end vs consumer IS an audible difference for a not-insignificant percentage of the population.

Especially when it comes to imaging. This is something that can be easily demonstratd with some high quality recording. Particularly Focal demo cd's. There are songs that have things, for example, liek the lead singer slight off center, and have the cymbals imaged higher (physically). On consumer gear this will sound like the singer is in the center and at the same height as the symbals. Play the same track back on a better setup (same environment) and you will hear what the recording actually contains.

well maybe you won't, but I will, and so will many of my friends.

a lot of the benefit of high end audio comes from training yourself to recognize such subtleties. Its akin to a jeweler and a consumer. The consumer buys a poor quality stone and is happy, but the jeweler comes along, and through his training, is able to recognize the defects.

Maybe those defects dont matter to you, and thats fine, but for me it does matter :)

8800GTX doesnt use G92 proc, only the 8800GT and 8800GTS 512mb do (at least from 8000 series).

790i has a great memory controller with supremely low latencies and supports ESA. It does have actual real differences over the 680i. DDR3 isnt exactly Ho-hum since it IS the future...when that arrives is a good question but it's hard to argue with the bandwidth and latencies that you can get from ddr3

    "why not do it yourself?"

perhaps because the government is in the best position to most effectively do something about it?

also, the mandate for the government to solve problems, typically comes FROM THE VOTERS, via the election process.
Sure back in the 1700's the government didnt have a mandate concerning retirement, but through the "will of the voters" the mandate was made.

the response I would give you is "i am doing something, myself, about it by voting for things that will effect this change"

Half life is not on mac because Valve thinks that there should be few platforms that they have to develop on.
Im sure the typical, "there isnt any money in porting/making games for mac," had something to do with it, but the fine folks at Valve seem to think that multiple platforms are a waste, which is motivated by their bottom line. They want to convince the market that we need PC/Xbox only; this can easily be seen by the horrible travesty which is Orange Box for PS3.
