Nowadays if I want a keyboard, I have to get a Blackberry, so I'm stuck choosing between hardware that makes sense and an OS that's actually supported by more than 10 people.
What the hell are you talking about? All BlackBerry phones for the last three years run Android with BlackBerry security services. BlackBerry licensed the BlackBerry brand to TCL They manufacture the majority of BlackBerry branded devices. BlackBerry spun off their mobile device division to focus on enterprise/government/medical security services. BlackBerry Mobile is a new company controlled by TCL.
If it makes economic or functional sense to have it elsewhere then move it where it needs to go.
I doubt that either of those things will factor into the decision. The real factor is even mentioned in the summary "the politically well-positioned Marshall Space Flight Center, in Huntsville, Alabama". Any politician with a NASA facility in their constituency will be fighting for this.
Agreed. And if Tizen ever gets any traction Google might have a real competitor to Android. Almost all of Samsung's products with Smart technology now run Tizen except for their phones. With all of the sh!t moves Google is pulling these days I'm distancing myself from as much of their ecosystem as I can. I have a Wear OS watch and a Pebble 2 and the Pebble 2 is my go to. Wear OS just tries too hard to be a smaller version of Android. I thought not having an Android based wearable would be a disadvantage but I feel the opposite has been true thus far. Add to that the abysmal battery life of Wear OS devices compared to other platforms and I have a hard time seeing Wear OS as competitive.
Google dominates with Google Maps and Waze. Their own offerings are languishing on their respective platforms while Google pulls away. They are now more concerned about the long term effect of their overall business if Google monopolizes the space. So they all decide to back OpenStreetMap in hopes it can mount a challenge. We'll see. It would take a lot to get me to switch from Waze but Google's shenanigans of late have me looking.
Of the 22 states, how many of them actively prevent third party ISPs from entering their state? The reason we have no choice is most states are suing anyone who tries to enter their market. They use talking points straight from the telco lobby.
Half the performance? I built this 2x4 coat hanger antenna and get 149 channels! Most of those Walmart $10 antennas aren't worth $10. I suppose there are inexpensive quality antennas available but all the ones I saw were at least $50. RF signals don't care how much you spent just how well you positioned your antenna. I spent the money I saved on a HDHomerun Connect Quatro so now I can watch OTA anywhere.
You mean like when Ancel Keys (a psychologist) took data on diets in regions around the world and hypothesized that heart disease was caused from eating fat? The only problem was he excluded data from his research that disproved his hypothesis. Like France where an extremely high fat diet showed very low instances of heart disease. His hypothesis was never proven but it has influenced our diets for the last 60 years. I switched to a ketogenic diet last year and am the healthiest I have ever been.
And this CYA mentality leads to all kinds of overzealous directives. The company I work for does not allow mapping to network shares when on VPN. I have no tools to help someone who is unable to connect to VPN so I'm left walking them through steps over the phone. We cannot initiate or receive video conference calls through the firewall. And the list goes on. The only way to be "secure" is to never connect to a network. If the security you implement adversely affects the business' ability to get work done you are not just a cost center but a cost sink. It's a tricky position to be in for sure. I certainly have no desire to be in cyber security.
The dinosaurs said the same thing about the Ice Age and they were just as wrong. Sure it wiped the dinosaurs out but the Ice Age eventually ended didn't it?!
SWTLJ was yawn inspiring (the only reason I would watch it again would be to see Chewy fight with the birds) but it wasn't nearly as bad as SOLO. There was a good story in there but the SJW crap they shoehorned in was just too much. When I go see a feel good movie I expect to feel good watching it. There were parts of SOLO that made me cringe in my seat.
You make such an eloquent and insightful observation on electron flow and then completely nullify it with your blasphemous comment against EMACS! HERETIC!!!!
The debate on which direction electrons flow (to positive + or to negative -) is ALMOST as heated as vi vs EMACS. Now they want to inject a new vector? WW III commencing in 3, 2, 1...
Well if the situation is so bad you have major conventions canceling and citing its attendees safety as the reason I'd say it was that bad. As for why...I'd start with ~$4K mo. rent for a ~900sq ft apt. My 1,770sq ft. 3 BR 2.5 Bath home mortgage with insurance is less than half that.
they also have a responsibility to obey Federal labor laws
And they do...right down to the letter of the law. Which allows them to hire contract labor for a temporary position for a period of up to one year. So about the 350th day of their contract (which also coincides with Christmas break in many cases) the position is eliminated and the contractor let go. Seven days later a new position with the same responsibilities is created and the contractor is offered a NEW position for another 350 days. Numerous tech companies (as well as many other industries) employ this practice.
Will the DOJ be pressing charges against Sony for installing a rootkit on its customers machines?

I guess soil depletion wasn't the cause after all!

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

How about the Pilgrims of Plymouth Rock as an example?
I believe the conversation was about Australia. But nice deflection.
I knew it was high...but WOW! I was just referencing all the ones found and reported on in just the last 12 months.
How many back doors have discovered in Cisco switches and routers in the last year? If you don't know they are in double digit territory.
As long as people continue to try and get something for nothing...

Nothing like a multi-personality disorder to wake things up.

Everyone knows the password is written on the router.
While I love my Mate 9 I did have to fiddle with the battery saving settings to get the right balance for me. VLC works fine for me though.
