This is stupid. Haven't you guys ever hear of Occam's Razor. Generally the simplest solution is the correct one.
FreeBSD can run Linux binaries. If SCO needed a Linux Compatibility Layer or whatever, why would they illegally copy code from the Linux kernel when they could just lift whatever they wanted from the FreeBSD sources?
Oh wait, what was I thinking? This is Slashdot - Conspiracy Theories for Nerds. Bill Gates probably broke into Linus' home himself and stole the source code for SCO.
They send me error messages with notes saying the bug happens "about once per 700,000 IPs". I have no idea what these guys are up to, but some have been sending me this kind of mail for years.
Hmmm - I can't help but think that maybe you shouldn't have mentioned that. Statements like that are exactly the kind of thing that people wanting to make security tools illegal are going to look for.
How much fun is it to be in the middle of a big data entry project, in the 'zone' and you get disturbed by a gigantic monkey with no 'off' button that wants to eat/nap/take your money?
People will watch it in the cinema among their friends family no matter how easy it is to get at divx copy.
Fuck that. Nothing ruins a movie for me more than the social aspect of it. I don't know about you guys, but I about pull a Lawrence Fishbourne every time somebody's cell phone goes off or they can't shut the hell up.
For me anyway, the only reason I still go to the movies is because I don't have a 52" widescreen HDTV. I would be SO happy to never go to a theater again.
The Antropomorphic principle is the name given by a tendency by us humans to believe that our situation is unique.
You spelled anthropomorphic wrong. However, had you spelled it correctly you still would have been wrong because anthropomorphism is the tendency to assign human characteristics to non-human items.
I think you misunderstood the parent poster. His question was whether or not you are allowed to use a "device" in house that somebody else has patented.
For example, could I build and operate my own flash memory device even though other companies may hold various patents on the process?
I'm not sure Apple should be rushing that Windows iTunes interface. Hell, they've had 7 years (?) for QuickTime for Windows and it still looks like ass.
It boggles my mind how a company that is so revered for it's UI design capabilities can turn out such a stinking heap of shit when it comes to x86 development.

This does the same thing for Sendmail. [Full disclosure: I'm the author.]
WidgetWorks pays up, lawyer now has hot tub full of Benjamins.
Why does he only let people named Benjamin in his hot tub?
I just sent him $50 - that's the least I can do.
Nah, the least you could do is not send him anything. Like me.
but if SCO wins we might all be using BSD!
Feh - it's going to take a hell of a lot more than a civil suit in a U.S. court to make the world stop using ANY open source software.
Okay BSA, here's a tip:
When the fruit of your efforts is less than the margin of error, it's time to rethink your strategy.
We *HAVE* the technology to do all this, why the hell are hardware manufacturers kicking their damn heals so much?
You keep using that phrase, I do not think it means what you think it means.
"You can bring your baby or toddler to work, so long as it can talk, feed itself and stick effortlessly to the ceiling like a spider."
Hi Timothy, we'd like to make you an honorary member of our organization - PIFCA (People Incapable of Forming Cogent Analogies).
You belong with us like a marmot is comfortable with peanut butter.
What the fuck is a shaby?
Be wary however, I registered as a North Korean military R&D official under high salary.
You jerk - you probably just started WWIII.
I'm amused mostly. I find humans highly entertaining.
Whoa - is this guy a fucking android?!?

You should try the new GPL'd clone of TiVo called GnuVo. It's pretty nice, except it won't let you watch any shows about capitalism.
How much fun is it to be in the middle of a big data entry project, in the 'zone' and you get disturbed by a gigantic monkey with no 'off' button that wants to eat/nap/take your money?
Oh, so you've met my brother-in-law then?
I don't want emails about printer toner, or bigger schlongs.
I thought I was getting 50 spam messages a day before I found out that it was just my wife trying to get me a bigger dingus.
Is it so wrong, after paying $30 total to see it in theatres, to download a low quality telesync just to double check your facts for arguements sake?
Yes. It is wrong that you are that much of a dork.
People will watch it in the cinema among their friends family no matter how easy it is to get at divx copy.

You must not have been around any women at a shoe sale or when another woman is hitting on her guy.
Of course not, this is Slashdot. He'd probably be lucky to be around any woman at all.
but I haven't had any complaints from people having to respond to a message bounced back to them for authentication.
Hmmm, nobody has emailed you complaining that your email authentication software is too difficult? Sounds like a success story to me.
You need USB under water?
"He's asking anyone who sees the Segway or knows where it might be to call Kent police at 911."
Wow - what a coincidence. My local emergency number is 911 too.

Perhaps you mean't the anthropic principle?

Where are you buying lawn-gnome-sized anal beads?
