I think most people just realize PINs are more hassle than they're worth. Having to enter them all the time while in public with people and CCTV cameras everywhere it's not exactly a secret number anymore.
Police almost never stop crimes directly. They mostly just document them after the fact. If you want to have security you really need to take measures into your own hands.
People do in fact grow food without the use of any sort of pesticides, but typically only on very small scales for obvious reasons. You're right that organic definitely does not mean free of pesticides, but there are different standards and certifications for it too. I've been meaning to look into the differences in these certifications, but I haven't managed to get around to it yet. This is an area where we definitely need to raise the bar so we can figure out what really matters.

A quick search reveals payroll can be handled with a 4 step process. Seems pretty simple to me. If it's actually a problem for you it really shouldn't require much additional code to implement something.
I seriously doubt anyone thinks it will be better in every way. I don't like the idea that most Americans are afraid to go to the doctor because of money. What if they had some seriously dangerous contagious infection, etc? Not taking care of all people in our borders on a basic level is a serious threat to public health.

It's not just the mufflers either. The engine compartment itself on pretty much any vehicle made in the past decade tends to be pretty well insulated. Many times people have been standing right next to my car (which isn't even new) in a quiet area and didn't realize it was running. Your best bet for hearing any vehicle in recent years is the road noise from the tires. If they're going too slow for that, then your eyes (or those of your guide dog/etc) should be more than sufficient!
For me it's not about fear, it's about identifying real issues and actually doing something about them instead of playing the blame game and demonizing stuff, etc. We're supposed to be the best, not just getting by! We can do so much better if we just stop all the pretending that we've got things figured out. If we did, we would at the very least have some clear solutions to many of the problems and be working towards them. I just want a nation I can be proud of. Right now this is a nation where ignorance and fear are running rampant and it's significantly hindering our progress.
Given that "an astounding 2,300 Americans are reported missing every day, including both adults and children" (truTV), it seems to me any number of agencies could easily pull this off at will. Not saying they do, but, how would we know?
It also apparently can't be used effectively at all by some people. I've tried all different dosages and timings, and never could find the "sweet spot" for me. My guess is it's more useful for jet lag than anything else given my experiences.

Linus chose the right license, which he combined with a good attitude, approach, and energy to create a strong community.
I couldn't agree more! Many times people have said they couldn't even tell my car was running. Lots of semi-recent vehicles are the same way. These days the road noise from the tires is generally louder than the sound coming from the engine (in most situations where pedestrians would be involved). I'm really getting tired of hearing how electric cars are somehow dangerous in this respect. All electric vehicles I've seen make a pretty distinct electric whine sound too, but maybe I'm just more sensitive to high pitched noises than most people.
Not trying to be an ass, but since when does anything work for everyone? I understand the FDA has a purpose, but it seems like they should be able to do a lot better of a job given their budget.
You both have valid points. I do think it's worth noting that a lot of people who watch Mythbusters now think they know a lot more than they actually do. It's been a long time since I've watched it, but they probably really should emphasize more that what they're doing is more entertainment than it is science.
