Yes, tragic losses or maybe comic ones.. the appstore is full of apps and games that had about 2-5 fulltime employees at one time with $30000/year rate. Then the app went on sale and was making like 1 sale per week on $2 app and then the biz went bellyup. Loses could be in thousands of dollars in paid wages, paid Apple crap, paid biz overhead etc.
Love it! Great to see this movement toward user designed hardware and also a pioneer of open source to be carrying the torch here. Please make a paid version alternative for iPad/Android so I can purchase it (I reed all my books and magazines on the iPad now). I think Adobe has some easy publishing software for iPad, so it should be painless to convert those PDFs and publish them via AppStore. Also the website needs some work, the open hardware logo looks very decent and to the point!
Then you perhaps should pay a visit to your nearest rehab center. Marijuana together with alcohol and tobacco should be freely sold, no problem, but as a poison, with clear skull and bones labeling and without any fancy logos etc. If you want those toxic substances in your system then you are a fool.
As the unlimited power is at our disposal (CO2 free), the Cold Fusion test wildly discussed yesterday is declared "success" (by Rossi), it has made Wired frontpage in the UK already. Scam artist or a messiah?
There are two types of programming languages. Those created to solve an urgent need, to make things possible, better, cleared and more robust. And then there are the other type of languages, those that were created to promote the author, to gain recognition, to sell his books, manuals and help him attain better employment or academic position, Wikipedia entry etc. These junk languages usually sport some gimmicks like mascots, academic syntax (bad/random syntax), performance issues and intended incompatibilities. Successfull creators of these are often seen as 'evangelists' at certain corporations.
Pardon my technical ignorance, but why would Google with the all the unlimited resources in the world opt to rip-off Linux and Java? Some non-techie judge like me could have a similar view, in my book it is the same as if Harley-Davidson bikes equipped unlicensed motors from Kawasaki in their motorbikes, weird, non-sensical and wrong at the same time.
Even Carmack said he will NOT develop for WP7 due to MS imposing some weird and seamingly stupid restrictions on programming the device. Seeing this other devs stay away and stick with trusty platforms like iPhone and Android. Meego was actually very good, it is a real shame Nokia is abandoning it.
Most 3D and fast moving games like racing do not benefit much from 1080p, often they even blur the screen (motion blur) like in MotorStorm, not to speak about internal upscaling.. High number of people even have a hard time to see any big difference between std. and HD res. hence Nintendo is still selling Wii to all those FullHD equipped customers.
Wii-U is being released mainly to catch the FullHD 1920x1080 resolution that the old Wii (PAL/NTSC only) has been lacking. The next generation of consoles will arrive with the next display resolution uptick, to fill those 3K-4K resolution screens, at least 2-5 years into the future from now (2011). Today PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii-U are all happy filling the current 1080p diplays, there is no real need for anything better.
China has no floating currency, they are literally printing money and subside heavily their manufacturers to undercut western producers. Those Germans see that right, China's goal is to establish themselves here and to eliminate our locals, this is not about making a profit. Get a clue.

and more copies of OS could be sold, Gates knows this, the sales of Windows per country are function of population size.
This is all about the Armstrong/Aldrin Moon moment, reach somewhere where nobody else ever wandered.
Same with the those prime number hunters, or those who are finding exoplanets etc., you can get it named after yourself (not in this case obviously), but you can get yourself a Wikipedia entry, get your effort immortalized, so still very worthy!
They should give a million to each developer to actually pay any attention to their wonderful barred system. Do they finally support native languages or Java there? Anybody?

Corporations? What about the little guy? Those small businesses and indies that have their stuff on those thieves bazaar sites? Who will help them?

interesting video about the subject by CBS

this is very related, it is the same phenomenon (LENR)
Has anybody benchmarked ARM vs Intel already? I mean in some standard test like SuperPI? How do these cores compare speed/Watt?
If it is easily replicable and not patented yet? Why publish? He might just be trying to avoid being a second Tesla.
CBS 60 Seconds take on this (below), military is working on it too. Maybe he really has found something, not fusion, they are calling it LENR.

The smart-phone scene has been a little boring of late..

LOL! yeah, and the ISS is causing all the hurricane storms of late
> Still think the gases are so bad
These radioactive "gases" like Radon are indeed worse, are you lucky and out of the 'zone'?

You can easily "burn" your OpenRISC CPU into a blank FPGA chip.

is that a new codeword for closed-source?
> Where's RMS?
Such a brazen GPL betrayal... RMS should sacrifice himself on a stake of Androids in the Googleplex backyard!

That iPad vs Vita comparison of yours is like comparing Ford Transit to Porsche 911. Each has its uses and users..
