Only it perpetually loses money, and advertises in the Tour de France -- a sport in which very few Americans have even the slightest interest in -- yet manages to stay in business.
In the US, DVDs were made relatively inexpensive by sony and other companies to gain market share. Thats what is responsible for the VHS being pretty much extinct within the span of a couple of years.
I'd wager that in other countries, DVDs are still a relative luxury. So even if you earn a respectable living, you might opt for a download.
In 1992 in Poland, I did now know anyone who actually owned music CDs, though I did see them on store shelves. In the states, they were probably a commodity by then.
I think spammers would adjust to that rather quickly by making multiple simultaneous SMTP connections. And if an ISP set up scripts to accept only X number of connections from the same IP, spammers could still connect to different SMTP hosts and end up sending out the same amount of mail.
All available for your download in substantially subpar quality ripped by a 13 year old, while you download for 3 hours from someone's dialup line. Say good bye to a large part of your day.
You mean like many South American and African countries destroyed by the IMF/WTO (of which the US is a dominant member) who enforced upon them rules for steering funding away from social programs like education and welfare to agriculture and manufacturing enhancing processes like irrigation and purchase of genetically modified seeds from western corporations? The same countries who have steered 5 times more funds to western members of the WTO than they received back?
I burn mp3 albums to CDRs as data. After burning an album, I append a "!" to the directory name to signify that its been burned.
What I love about iTunes is that even though the album was in my play list, and the location pretty much changed with the renaming, iTunes somehow finds the new location, seemlessly and plays the songs as if nothing happened. And you don't even know that it had to do anything special, which I assume it had to since the path is in effect different.
*better* is a very subjective adjective. For me personally, a console is good for a quick, 5 minute stint with an arcade racer, or a platformer. I no longer have interest in RPGs because it's all pretty much been done before. Same old fantasy story of a bunch of kids fighting a seemingly insurmountable foe. Whatever. Not to mention battles after 3 seconds of movement.
On the PC side I have games that I've spent lots of time playing. And I mean lots. I've played Grand prix Legends since 1998. I've played all Thief games since the first one came out in the mid-to-late nineties.
Both games have additional levels, cars, tracks, mods, tires, textures, engine sounds, weapons released which I can try out in a heart beat.
Personally, I consider the PC a better gaming solution. And since most of gaming is going on on Windows, the original troll-rated post advocating installing Windows is not that far off the target. The vast selection is on the Windows side, and buying XP is simply the cost of the admission ticket.
I think that people who would stop at a certain level, and instead focus on activities rewarding in other ways than money are the more frugal and humble ones. The ones you never read about in Forbes, or watch on tv. The ones that never see a limit are the money-, power-hungry and attention-starved monsters that will do anything to prove they are better than you.
I hate to be an English nazi here, but if everyone uses "of" instead of "have", soon enough this incorrect form will enter the proper lexicon and at that point, I'll probably pull all my hair out. And the world doesn't need another bald white guy.
Nothing else gives me more douche chills than seeing every other guy (and most young women) in the city (Manhattan) with those white ear buds and cables.
Microsoft (NYSE: MSFT) announced today a joint partnership with Ferrari to help the Italian concern in its 2005 bid for the World Constructor's Championship.
It is interesting that the newsbot looks so much like Google's news page that it even sports the "(beta)" disclaimer.
Has miscrosoft ever released public products or services that were labeled beta? From my memory, everything they produced was the most complete, functional, secure and final solution around.
Speaking of Solaris, has anyone ever gotten it to install under VPC 6.0 or 6.1? Whenever I try it tells me it doesnt support the detected 486 processor.

"yeah, if you're stupid you should use Windows, but if you really want to understand computers you should use Linux"
The dead are going after the living!
I'll buy one when they support *.ogg

Obesity is fast becoming a big problem in China right now. Probably due to the McDonald's restaurants and KMarts setting up shop there.
