If so, I'll get a bulk order together to save on international shipping etc etc. Drop me a line at richardagreen@gmail.com (yay I get to test the spam filter as well) and put something like "Yes - definitely", "Maybe - depending on the price you get", or "probably not, but keep me posted" in the subject line and I'll add up the number of interested parties after 48 hours and see if it's worth buying in bulk.
Ok... Golden rule no. 1. Software shouldn't make hardware crash... but that's what that testing site did to my router !! FWIW, it's a draytek Vigor2200 USB running the v2.3.1 webcam firmware with the stingray modem.. Hell, I may even bother to write to those Draytek people and tell 'em to look at what that java app is doing to see how good their support is !
what compatability issues did you come across ? I have a Dell 5150 and want to know what %age of things work from the off without a great deal of tinkering.
For all those interested in the MD5 signing of a message and how "impossible" it is - take a look at www.cryptool.org and the demonstration under "Individ. Procedures" -> "Attack on the hash value of a signature". You may be (unpleasently) surprised about how easy it is to match two completely different documents to have the same MD5.
I'm starting a small business based in London (that's England) in retail (predominantly web based, but partly mail order) and have had exactly the same thought.... I could offer a service where, if enough people displayed an interest to contact the manufacturer directly and order a batch - sorting out the VAT / import duty as well. Obviously, in this case "interest" means paying a deposit, but if some of these toys can only be shipped in and the risk of holding an inventory is offset by the deposits paid, then what do I have to loose ? Any other comments ??
But I've been round Boba Fett's house (which is in Tooting Bec - London ) and he's a nice chap. I went to uni with his son and never once did he try to throw me down that pit of zarlack of whatever its called. In fact, did you know that Boba Fett is actually Cliff Richard's ginger mate in Summer Holiday ? Well check it out in imdb if you didnt.
Look at the mail.yahoo.com login page. It generates a unique rsa key for each login - effectively enciphering all net traffic for the login sequence (via a touch of javascript). It also "free" as well, if you follow the links.
What web services do you use for looking up UPCs ? I thought about doing something similar but couldn't be bothered unless I could find a db with all that stuff on....
Ok chaps. I'm sorry for this, but I have to rant about a time 13 years ago... I was downloading something via kermit at the college computer lab. It had pretty much got there (at the piss poor rate janet [ remember that ? ] use to work at when I really needed a drink. I left a nice note saying "downloading - pls leave" whilst I went for a coffee ( we are talking well before multi tasking pcs here chaps ) anyway, got back and someone else was on the pc. Obviously I thought that the file had downloaded and that he had just started doing his own stuff.. Imagine my surprise when I asked him where on the c: drive my file was and he said "oh sorry I just rebooted it as no one was using it". From that point on... and maybe this is why I hate users / loosers as much as I do now... I knew that you should never trust anybody near a keyboard... esp. people who have no friggin clue what they are doing. Oh yes and this was the time when you use to "book" out computers.
Ok sorry for the rant. Even more sorry for anybody who has got to this point and am still reading. But after 13 years, I really needed to get this off my chest about the only bad experience of kermit I ever had.
not that I'm comparing and iPod to the above, but I'm sure you could somehow mangle those reasons to argue against anything that costs more than dree-fiddy.
Can someone please give me an friggin idiots step by step guide to get VLC running so I can stream one file from one machine to another... When I say idiot guide, I mean "put xyz in field abc" coz I just can't get it to work:-(
I've used this company strikalite and they've always been able to supply decent, branded or non-branded, high capacaity NiMHs. Very friendly service as well.
I once posted to what was known as "the thread of death", which was a big hoohah about this kind of thing. It became very obvious very quickly that someone was moderating every post down to -1 with unlimited mod points - even though at the time the FAQ stated that this would never have happened. Eventually, someone fessed up that the eds did have unlimited mod points and that they were just trying to keep the flow on topic - but my card was marked with "Do not allow to mod again" and since that day I never have..... Let's see how long this post lasts as well, eh ??
If that doesn't work, then make sure you firewall yourself against those attacks. Probably best not to do it via the console, but telnet in via another machine. Watch out though - if (s)he's sharp (s)he'll probably block that firewall the moment you can those network connections - I'm afraid you may have to rebuild your machine if (s)he's that far entrenched

This reminds me of MS's "bet you can't crash our new Win2k server" competition....

Does it go 2.10 or 2.X ? Coz that looks like it's not as good as 2.2 ...
Ok - half of this question is tongue-in-cheek but I am pseudo serious
