  1. It's the people, not the software on New OSS Doomed In Enterprise? · · Score: 1

In managing processes it's all about the people, not the software. Each company has their own workflow. No generic software can ever fit that. Software can only provide the framework. Each company must customize their own workflow and processes into their systems. That's why IT departments use so many of their resources just on this one problem. Within an IT department many companies have a team dedicated just to customizing systems for IT workflow. Most of the others are working on the business workflow. That's what custom corporate software has always been about.

So in conclusion, this article is useless. Businesses (especially financial where I have my background) have been doing this for over a decade. Open source software is a perfect fit because it's customizable, standards compliant, and open. Case closed.

  15. Both a blessing and a nuisance on OSx86 Cracked Again · · Score: 1

Is this a blessing for Apple, or simply a nuisance?

Publicly a nuisance, privately a blessing. Apple would never admit it, but if a fair number of hobbyists get this on their PC hardware it'll probably be good underground promotion leading to more hardware sales. A few of those hobbyists will certainly consider Apple's own hardware when it's time to upgrade since they'll already be happy with the software. Plus word of mouth never hurts. When a kid playing around with OS X on his PC shows it to dad Apple may get another sale.

  16. Re:What's MS's deal? on Microsoft to Replace Blackberry? · · Score: 2, Interesting

Yes, but Microsoft's business strategy can't last forever. We all know that only two software products financially support the rest of the company. Their stock has been stagnant for a long time. Eventually they'll be spread so thin that they'll have to go through a major overhaul. Their only hope for growth in the short term is large sales of Windows and Office in developing nations.

Microsoft's late to the game as usual. The idea is so obvious is should have come out many years ago. But Microsoft can never sit back. They can't stand to let any segment of the computer market go untouched. But rather than innovate they don't think of what customers want most until some other company has already filled the void successfully. This will definitely be another second-rate product losing revenue. That definitely won't help their stagnant stock price either.
