Wow, I've never heard of this app...looks very intriguing! The only problem would be that most ERP systems are discreet, rather than process based...but depending on how extensible this is, or if we could pay people to get some formulation modules running or something...damn! This is interesting to me to say the least...
This unit is going to fail. It costs too much plain and simple. It looks really great and I wouldn't mind owning a neat little gaming system like that, but not for that price! Price is going to sink this thing back into the depths of obscurity.
Maya has had a PLE around for quite some time - I tried it but I could not stand the watermarking. (The version I had watermarked all of your project views!) Although if someone is seriously considering entering the industry Maya is the defacto standard in a lot of places (for movies and such anyways). For the hobbiest I can strongly recommend Cinema 4D.
The proposed levies are indeed $21 per GB, I found it on the gov't site. Apparently by selling the drives with music already on them they can get around the levy. Also consumers may order from the states (or wherever) themselves without levies - but if the drive is made in Canada then the manufacturer has the joy of charging $2100 or so on a $200 drive.
I'll admit that I'm "spouting bullshit" - because that's what this whole proposed levy is - complete and utter bullshit that could potentially kill the Canadian electronics industry.
This thing is really getting out of hand - I don't want or need this music copying "permission", but look at this bullshit:
HDD - $21 per gigabyte...WTF? That's $2100 tacked on the price of a 100GB HDD?? Guess I won't be buying HDD's in Canada - let's all look forward to a vigorous black market in HDD in Canada.
DVD-R/RW etc.. $2.27 per disc??? What a crock of shit - especially since this law doesn't give us the right to copy movies - so what is the point of this? So now when I go and make a home movie of my baby to send to relatives I get to add $2.27 to the already pricey DVD discs??
There's also fees proposed for removable storage...
This is just plain ridiculous. I mean words can't express the stupidity of these levies...
The worst is when I have to switch to IE for the (very) odd site that doesn't like Mozilla - all of a sudden all these pop-ups appear and I remember just how annoying those things were!
This media levy pisses me off to no end - I've bought 100's of CD-R's over the years and I've used exactly 3 for music - and that was just for music that I already owned.
I don't want free music, I want cheaper recordable media! I'm not sure about this $0.77 per CD though - I'm sure i've bought CD's for $0.50 before on spindles.
This levy is utter B.S. I mean why not compensate SOFTWARE publishers as well as musicians? I wonder what the ratio is of pirated music vs. pirated software - especially if you take the MSRP of software - i mean it takes a lot of music CD's to equal the cost of one copy of 3ds MAX or Photoshop.
That's interesting - so if I drop a book on the keyboard does that mean that I agree to all of their terms? Heh, or did the book just agree to their terms!
Or what if I have a child less than 18 years old and he/she clicks the keys first?
This is truly amazing! I can't imagine how many hours something like this must've took. They even used it for a TV show according to his site. I wonder what his real job is? Maybe it should be set designer...
(too bad about that website of his though, it's a shame really...)
I still can't figure out the allure of Mac's. Are these boxes significantly faster than the latest Windows XP Pro, P4 or AMD box? I wonder where one could find a sort of speed vs. price blow by blow breakdown? I'm not talking a Windows Fan Boy vs. Mac Fan Boy flame fest - just one that is as unbiased as possible!
A few years ago (okay so a lot of years ago now) when Battle Arena Toshinden, Tekken, or Soul Blade were out I would've loved to have one of these..but after years of console fighting games, I think I actually do better with a gamepad now! Sad, but true!
TimeSplitters and TimeSplitters2 on the Playstation2, I don't know why, I don't know how, but for some reason I am able to play these games with a PS2 controller...could be the Goldeneye roots of course;), but really I don't know why the rest of the game makers can't get it right.
That being said, I'd still rather have a keyboard and mouse I think.
I didn't know about half the cars before I played Gran Turismo - all of a sudden there were are these cool cars that I didn't even know existed, like the Mitsubishi GTO. I know its not an accurate representation of all aspects of a given car, but it certainly adds a cool factor to looking out for new (and used cars).
Now how about letting the game designers do some car damage!?!
I agree, DVD's are a good price these days. Some stuff comes in a bit high at $25 Cdn, but if you're patient you can get it for $20. Plus there are a crap load of older movies for anywhere from $8 to $20. Of course they can make some extra gravy selling SE versions for the hardcore fans.
I personally have no problems with DVD pricing these days either.
Ever since I saw it, when I think of roleplayers, all I can think of is that short internet video that has a bunch of characters sitting around a table (with a monster in the kitchen looking for beer or something), doing their roleplaying thing. It's just hilarious, and I really wish I could remember the link/title etc.!
I don't know about RP'ing, when I play games it's to have fun - occasionally it may involve some RP'ing - but I'm not going to be 'forced' into playing a role all the time. I know the hardcore RP'ers always have to point out that an MMORPG is, in theory a ROLE PLAYING Game (usually typed just like that), but let's face it in computer-land an RPG means you have a character(s) with stats and upgradable weapons, armour, magic/psi powers etc. That is the 'vernacular' I believe for a CRPG.
The majority is out there playing and having fun, and sometimes I can't help but resent the roleplaying types - at least the 'aggressive' ones that feel you should play 'their way'.
Yay! That's exactly right. Sometimes fanboys, especially with MMOG's it seems talk about how it's your fault for not enjoying a game and go on about how you need to work your way up to the top and then you can have fun...I want fun after the opening cut scene!

I don't think there's much of a problem - during random trawling they pulled up 3, given the size of the ocean, and the minute percentages actually checked, odds are there's tons of those buggers down there. And if we did remove the last three, well the species didn't have much hope anyways! It's not like they set out to find three endangered fish and pull them to the surface.
And I'm afraid that being pulled to the surface is a one-way trip. So once they were discovered there wasn't much to be done.
I found T3 to be a lot of fun, the crane chase and the terminator fight were great. The crane chase did a great job of a feeling of massive forces and damage. The story was okay, nothing spectacular, they did leave things open for a great T4.
I think T2 was a bit better than T3, but T3 was a great action flick IMO. So if you're into action for the sake of action, unplug your brain and enjoy the destruction!
I wonder how many console games are actually copied in North America? Especially the "current generation" of consoles - I don't think I know anyone with pirated versions of X-Box, GC, or PS2 software.
I think PC Piracy is a much bigger problem - I do know more than one person who will d/l software. And even large than that, is the borrowing/cracking of games between friends. I'm sure most purchased PC games make it onto more than one machine.

IMO there's much more interesting characters to base a game on than Nina...how about Lei?

I bet these aren't enforceable!

Anyone remember Robo Aleste for Sega CD, that has to be one of my all time favorites, along with Raiden Trad, and Thunderforce III.
How is Twisted Metal Black online anyways? I don't have the adapater as of yet, but free TMBO is certainly tempting!
Ah, but what if you keep coming back, everyday around supper, then tell your friends to come by everyday too...

Of course that investigation would be my law enforcement and not by the goons of a private company!

Hehe, all you really need was some good burning software, which was of course, pirated! :)
