"Not that I condone fascism, or any -ism for that matter. -Ism's in my opinion are not good. A person should not believe in an -ism, he should believe in himself. I quote John Lennon, 'I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me.' Good point there. After all, he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. I'd still have to bum rides off people."
No doubt. I wasn't speaking to anything except the meaning of the phrase for OP (S/he seemed to think it meant 'labor treated lovingly' or something.) Who can afford to labor at something extensively and make no money? Most people work for a paycheck, and most people don't describe their job as a "labor of love."
That's what makes it a labor of love. You're doing it because you love it -- not because of the pay or benefits. e.g., "I love making sandwiches. It doesn't pay shit, but it's a labor of love..."
Except dogs would also indicate people who had *had* weed in their luggage but no longer do. i.e., If you carry weed around in your bag all week and then flush it down the toilet, the dog is still going to smell the residual smell. They'd spend just as much time (or more) on false alarms.
Whether they get a "good deal" on the military equipment isn't the point. Does any of that unneeded equipment cost more than a camera? Then get the camera instead.
What ever happened to believing in your own idea enough to put your own money behind it? Or working hard to save money. Spending less on other stuff to pursue your dreams.
Kickstarter happened. Go back to any point in history and you will find people who would have taken free money had that been an option. Don't act like those were more virtuous times. The option to find backers/suckers (other than family) just didn't exist.
Though everyone in Chicago is used to the endless taxation (of which the red light cameras are just one example), the more recent speed cameras they installed (and continue to install) felt more like a revenue generator than the former. People could see the potential harm-reduction of red light cameras, but not so much with the speed-trap cameras. We all knew both were just new means of taxation, but the speed cameras felt more brazen.
Of course, after Daley sold the city's parking to a private company, I think everyone just became even more calloused and defeated with the endless cash-grabbing by the city.
the group that understands the interface and uses the manual, and the group who turns to members of the first group for help at the slightest frustration.
This, to me, sounds like an argument for investing in UX and a user community. Again, they should be investing in all of these things. But, if I had to pick two, I'd be a lazy bastard and let the community support my product for me. Especially if I'm unable to provide quality/updated documentation.
Ah, that's a good read. Thanks for the link -- I wasn't aware of the cash-based budgeting tactic. I'd mod you up/informative if I hadn't already participated in the thread.
You seem to think teachers have a level of autonomy that they just don't have. There are likely teachers plenty capable of such feats. "Why they can't implement a solution" involves many more variables and pressure from all sides.
I've unfortunately got one of those monopolies as my ISP (Time Warner), but they don't force their hardware on you. Bought my own Surfboard modem and my own RT-N66U router. Full control, and don't have to pay their stupid monthly leases for equipment.
I'm running Merlin's on my RT-N66U and love it. From what I've read, the Asus router's are pretty good at being un-bricked, too (though I haven't had any problem switching between firmware). A couple people mentioned the price being high, but $120 seems pretty reasonable to me (considering I'll probably keep it a few years). It's more than a TP-Link or a Buffalo will cost you, but the construction quality is much better.
And that's what they're betting on. I can pay a few pennies more a day, but why would I? Fuck Comcast. How about they give me one dollar a day for every one of their subscribers? Because it's not my money and I'm not entitled to it? Precisely.
Train will extend from downtown all the way to the beach in Santa Monica soon!
Porky's was an awesome game. Well, twelve year-old me remembers it being awesome, at least.
Hungary is a great place to live by the way - if you've got the cash to be comfortable.
That describes everywhere .

And the Nexus 5.
Plus, it makes you look like a baller.

As well it should. DVD encryption was broken 15 years ago....
How can you be free, if you don't have security? How can you be secure, if you aren't granted freedom (the definition of liberty)?
How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?
Bacon is huge. Definitely add it if you're cooking in the oven. I prefer grilling mine, though. They soak up mad grill flavor!
The rent in southern california is already too damn high. Please do not come to southern california.

Just test on the 101 in Los Angeles. You'll never hit 70MPH.

Couldn't make it to the last sentence of TFS, eh?

Not any more: this year the state is looking forward to a surplus of $4.2 billion.
