Parent is both informative, and uninformative at the same time. AT RELEASE, this was true. And IMHO, Blizzard struck a great balance between protecting their rights and allowing people who paid (myself included) to enjoy the game.
Unfortunately IT MOST CERTAINLY DOES NOT CONTINUE TO BEHAVE THIS WAY.
I'm annoyed at losing a feature of the game that I came to rely on. I played the campaign, and my son played as guest, and things worked out. But what really made me angry is how Blizzard handled the change. When I asked customer support what happened to the option to play as guest, They told me at first that it was still there. Then they told me "reboot your computer and it should show up". Since I was using wine, that was an easy test. Then they told me that if my son created a battle.net account of his own, I could allow him to play as guest. Then they said that all the "play as guest" content was now free. Then, on the 10th email they kind of sort of admitted that there was no more "play as guest". At no time did they answer my questions as to why it was gone or if it would ever come back.
Good thought. But sadly, this won't replace those dirty coal plants over night either. Power companies will have to make large investments to either build new plants or convert existing plants to this technology. And the only thing big companies like to spend money on is their shareholders.
They clocked the speed he was driving at because the tires were a different size? There's some mysterious huge downhill on the new jersey turnpike that caused him to hit 80 despite setting his cruise control to 54? Really? Is that the best he can come up with?
The model S may or may not be a good car. It sure seems like it's a pain to charge up on long trips. But this guy Broder sounds like he's full of it.
I used to read the AV comparisons once in a while. MS Security Essentials used to score fairly high on these tests! Back when it was one of the top rated products I installed it on the two machines that in my house that still run windows -- my wife's laptop and my son't netbook. I assumed (obviously wrongly) that the quality had been maintained.
It sounds as if your code is lacking. Specifically, you need to add some comments to explain WTF you are doing and/or why TF you did it that way. There is no excuse for anyone looking at your source code to not understand it.
Did you have to use a funky data structure because jerry's an idiot and his functions couldn't handle your original one? There's a way to explain that:
/* changing to this funky data structure because jerry's an idiot */
/*funky data structure description follows:... */
An old mentor of mine once told me "I try to comment my code as if, a year from now, an idiot may be looking at it and trying to figure out what I was thinking, because I may have to look at this code a year from now". That stuck with me. Even if you can remember all the reasons why you did things yourself, if your code doesn't have comments explaining these kinds of things clearly, be prepared to defend it over and over again every time someone looks at it.
Most businesses have now implemented stupid email "retention" policies to avoid law suits that require all email to be deleted after an insanely short time (my company has gone from 6 months to 1 month).
If only the kept that old email, and could show just ONE scanned document being emailed prior to the patent, they'd have prior art.
Acid Rain was moderated with a cap and trade, not avoided. Anyone with a swimming pool in the northeast will tell you they have to correct the ph of their pool every time it rains.
My son runs GW2 on opensuse 12.1. He has a phenom 9100 processor and a geforce 220 graphics card. He uses the latest wine and Nvidia's proprietary driver. He says a few large scenes "lag a little bit" but it doesn't stop him from playing every day. YMMV
I use a decentralized social networking tool called email
It lets me send out a message -- with pictures and all!-- to a bunch of friends. And they can all see it and comment on it and share it with other friends. Pretty cool, huh?
Still consuming 140-150 watts at peak load vs intel's ~90. Good to see the graphics numbers coming up though.
The reason I highlight power is that the integrated graphics power could be a huge advantage in a low-end laptop. As long as it doesn't kill battery life.
Could someone explain why the eastern district of Texas is friendlier than the rest of the country to these kinds of suits? Are jurors dumber there? Is is more difficult to mount a defense there?
Why don't authors, or publishers, just sell the ebooks directly to consumers? Why even bother going through distributors for something with essentially 0 distribution cost?
The play offline mode is only to continue your online campaign. It doesn't allow for guest campaigns.
That "offline" mode is different from being able to play as guest. It allows one to play one's online campaign while offline.

After all, since everything is virtual, it's impossible to tell if the game is fair!
I'm not sure legal and regulated will translate into fair, but it's gotta be closer to it than the offshore sites. Right?
It's not at all shocking that it was politically motivated. What's shocking is that they admitted it.

I'm reasonably sure that transient copies such as you describe are not considered to be infringing.
and is this site ALREADY slashdotted?
Seems like what the US needs is an alternative minimum tax for corporations doing business in the states. If I have to pay, so should they.

It's the new LEGO. Hundreds of blocks that you can assemble any way that you want with no instructions.

As soon as they hack them to enable playing call of duty all learning will stop.;
We're just smarter than you.

I mean... really? My impression is that all modern distos are pretty much a snap to install and maintain.
Buggs Bunny proved this years ago.
"You keep out of this. He doesn't have to shoot you now!"

Like all of them?
