" Thats like saying the real crime of the war on drugs is that the IRS hasn't dragged in all of these drug kingpins for not paying taxes." -- that's what got Al Capone....so maybe the IRS should give it a shot.
Windows has actually done that to me before...with the video card driver -- it kicked me back to 640x480 16 color and said the same basic thing....it shocked the hell out of me.
it was a nvidia card with a dying fan and heating issues...
1% of the time, my windows side crashes due to software.
the remainder of the time, it's something on its way out (e.g. it crashes, I reboot it, and lo and behold bios screens now look funny with odd colors and symbols -- this leads to [censored] & $$).
There's no way schmucks like you are ever going to hear my music unless I "sell my soul" to the record industry, because I don't have hundreds of thousands of dollars to spend on marketing and promotion.
What about that story on free hosting for media for life by the Internet Archive people? Upload there, change slashdot homepage....instant promotion.
unfair advantage? wtf? the decisions were already made. how could knowing that help them...except maybe in finding housing in boston?
you all are completely wrong. this is no worse than looking to the left or the right as you walk down a sidewalk -- and happening to notice your acceptance letter sitting there. guessing URLs is the digital equivalent of looking around as you walk....nothing more. if someone happens to leave a window open or make an easily guessed URL to sensitive information, it's their own damn fault if you glance in.
I've got a PowerBook and a PC...and I'm thinking of building a machine to become a permanent Linux box -- if I moved my TV tuner over, could I watch TV on my gaming PC and/or my PBG4?
Can you have network playback? I can have one PC in a corner with a few TB of drive space and n TV tuners...and have n small, cheap, quiet PCs feeding signals out (or more if some happen to be watching archived shows).
I'm sick and tired of the people who think that the NT kernel is the issue...that's the one thing Microsoft should *not* get rid of. It's everything on top that needs to go, but all that crap would have to come along to any emulation layer.
I don't know when I realized this, but the human mind is like the internet. everything you could ever want to know is probably in there, but you need google to find it all and every search eventually leads to something sex-related.
I got a Transit when I got my PBG4...and except for a couple of buggy driver things (make sure you have digital out checked in the preference pane before trying to use it with Apple's DVD player -- or else, you k-oops.), it rocks.
i must confess...www.gateworld.net has all that nicely documented -- someone there took the time to type a transcript of the episode...all I did was scroll down =P
but on the other hand, the mere fact that I knew which episode to read says something anyway =P
but what about someone with cable and vonage?
actually, it's a contradiction. "only a Sith deals in absolutes" is an absolute :P

equal or greater power than the mini, integrated monitor, and a built-in "UPS" -- aka laptop battery
From Fox's website:
"8. Can I get tapes of FOX Network Primetime Shows sent to me?
ANSWER:
The FOX Network does not provide nor sell videos of any of shows, specials or movies that air on the Network.
Our recommendation is to ask co-workers, friends, family and neighbors for anyone who may have taped off-the-air the show you are looking for.
"
would someone explain how the fuck they can essentially condone this via analog forms, but not via digital forms? the law makes no distinction...

if you use nvidia gear, yes, it actually does.
in other words, imagine a 24-port network switch! :P
sounds like some ideas for extensions for openmosix

I thought the things ran at full-tilt if the OS didn't slow them down...and so Linux G5s were just noisy as hell.
What's the status of a MythTV Win32 frontend?
