I'll admit I snagged a copy of Spore in advance of the USA release. Played it for a day or two, and gladly coughed up dough for a legit copy once it was available.
Illegally downloaded copies != lost sales, I'm sure I'm not the only person who did it.
I had the same experience. I think typing class must be where they send the old crones to finish out their years.
I think I ended up with a C after I convinced her I could type faster than she could... but that class ruined my typing speed for a while. I ended up reverting into a hybrid of home row and my own methods...
That's an interesting thought... I hadn't considered that. Would suck if they stop making it after n is set, though... but as long as the equipment worked, that'd be pretty cool.
I saw one of these on the shelf the other day. The price wasn't much higher than for 802.11g options.... my biggest question would be whether a firmware upgrade would necessarily be able to bring these into full 802.11n compatibility once the standard is ratified?
It would suck to end up locked into a dead-end solution like that, but if it can be patched to become standard.... I might think about trying it out.
I don't know... while they opened themselves up to legal recourse (from sketchy characters themselves), how many times have you seen/heard about Lycos in the last few years?
It reeks of publicity stunt to me, to be honest. It's bumped their public mindshare a little higher. Now they pull the risky behavior, but the effect remains... for a while, at least.
"A serious security flaw has been found. But don't worry, it's no big deal!"
It's just frustrating to hear people whine about security via lower market share, but then excuse serious flaws using that logic when it's convenient.
I don't, however, refute the point. I'm just of the camp that would prefer stories to at least feign subjectivity, and leave the opinion for the comments.
Bender: "What should we point it at first?" Fry: "I dunno. Try it on me!" *zap* "Ow! My sperm!" Bender: "Wow! Neat! Mind if I try that again?" *zap* Fry: "Huh, didn't hurt that time."
Methane doesn't smell all that great in my experience. On the bright side, all those bean dinners will be easily masked when I shake my head and glare at my laptop every time I break wind.
I received a shoulder bag from american eagle (ae.com) as a gift about a year ago. I ended up getting a 17" Powerbook that fit perfectly in it, and I don't have to look like a geek walking around town with it.
Check out ae.com > men's > belts+bags, they're inexpensive and easy to carry. The only thing they don't offer is heavy duty shock protection, but I don't go around slamming my bag into things very often so that hasn't been an issue.
I've known a number of people who consider their pets to be as close, or closer, than other family members. It came up in a discussion a while back that with all the advances in cloning- would you bring back a lost pet again, if there was a service that could do so?
All Pet Sematary images aside, it seems like if someone could prey on all the emotion behind the lost of a loved family member, people would be willing to pay a load of money to experience the joy of raising beloved Whiskers again from the beginning.

Do you have any information about the program? I've been trying to track it down and I'm having trouble...
hehe! that takes me back.

Justice is expensive these days.

Yeah, if you've got a Brookstone near you, they carry them... or search the site for "ecosphere"...

I think that was 'cause she burned out her vision in the last (or near the last) episode doing her Madame Zolta psychic trick...
All I see is "make /bin/laden executable"
I feel kind of crappy about it, but I smirked when I read this one.
Bitch. ;)
That's kind of creepy. I'd never noticed it before.

"Still, I feel safer using Firefox since malicious persons are much more unlikely to target any vulnerabilites."
Seriously.
Wow, what a ripoff. And I feel like a HUGE geek because I actually got excited reading that crap, until I got to tht end.
Well played.
Infidel! :P
Sounds like a bit of a prima donna. Something to be said for karma.....
Ooh, now that would be kind of slick.
Reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Homer and Bart build the rocket and send the hamster up, though...
Seems like the drag of the parachute might manifest a crash of its own. ;)
