I would say that seeing israeli bulldozers destroying houses in your neighbourhood would make it all the more appealing to young palestinians to 'fight for the cause'. To them, it just confirms that israel is an evil which must be destroyed with whatever means neccessary.
The only party in the conflict which has the ability to restrain itself is the israeli state. I don't condone the actions by radical palestinians, but I do understand why so many of them pick up their weapons to fight.
Not that I've actually checked, but it wouldn't surprise me if nearly all phonetically good sounding memorable names are squatted. Especially when sites with names like "flickr" got popular and domain squatters started paying attention to sites like that.
And even if you dont "need" a good name, it shouldn't be possible to make money of it this way. Its just.. wrong... in my eyes. Making money of typos of people or making money of random dictionary words without content is evil.
Its a good move, but im still waiting to see some more action against domain squatters. It is so infuriating to have a good idea for a website, only to have 99% of the possible/good domain names being taken and being part of some advertizement network. And I just refuse to pay them.
Ofcourse, in economic terms, it would probably be worth it in the long run if you have a very good idea to pay some extra for the better domain name. But its like paying for "protection" money because the alternative is worse...
Ah, but should the aim of IP protective-type mechanisms/laws be there for the sake of the net benefit of society? The argument is that the actions of free copying hurt the net profit of the artists/studios thus you "steal" their profit. Ofcourse, you are not giving them your money, which is what makes them so upset.
What *would* be better for society? will we loose artists if their work is not protected? do they need the studios to market and fund them? What is the actual effect? Would 10% of the people who download stuff buy it if they could not download it? Would we have new artists which would do new clever things if there was no piracy today? These are things which cannot be clearly measured, and the answer would vastly differ depending on who you asked. And, depending on that answer, it would lead to the conclusion that more or less protection is "better" for general society. And then again, for better or for worse, there are not many things which are done because they are "better" for society. Because, should doing things for the benefit of society be the ultimate goal?

Well, Anime is just a medium. You can expect to find very bad, very good, very weird, very boring, very exciting, very cute, very gruesome, very lovable anime. And there is no one-size-fits-all (tm).
But, if you're into movies. (I prefer series) Check out Grave of the Gireflies, Wings of Honneamise and perhaps Jin-Roh (the wolf brigade) or Akira (Personally I don't like it -that- much, but I know some people who swear by it).
In series, I would recommend: Cowboy Bebop (ofcourse), Scrapped Princess, El Hazard, Photon, Planetes, Escaflowne. I'm not sure about evangelion, it's good, but a bit over-hyped I think.
But anyway, just like with 'normal' movies and series. There are anime-movies and series for every different tastes. But I admit that most anime follows the 'action & sex & humor' strategy to attract as large a late-teen audience as possible -grin-.

I find it funny how you find hidden motives and words where there clearly are none. Yes, perhaps some Europeans might think this way, as might some Americans when Beagle failed. The way I see it this is silly and I just want more space exploration, no matter who does it. (C'mon Japan! C'mon China!) Also I believe that the people who actually work at these missions (at NASA and ESA) do feel some competitiveness, but are mature enough to just congratulate the other when a mission succeeds because the outcome of the missions is more important than who has accomplished them.

The intention was to create a framework with which you can create all other forums. The fun thing about it is that I've used it to create all kinds of different (non-forum) websites with the framework. From a photo album to a telephone-cost-administration system. In my opinion it shows how you can write a good OO system and make good use of the features a scripting language can provide.
